I dont know what everyone is complaining about; I think this car is beautiful. Cup holders, radio and A/C are all FREE options just so you all know. I've been reading a few of the comments and LOL @ the lotus suggestion. Those cars look like chinese ladybugs, but I guess for only, "$6000 in the US," lol please. I agree, I'm not too excited about the 'door handles' either but it's hardly a deal breaker...

A removable hard-top is just what this cars need though.

What's the point of this car?

The only selling point of the Boxster is, that it's a luxurious roadster.

If you want a stripped down roadster, a Lotus Elise SC is 400kg lighter, faster and significantly cheaper ($6000 in the USA, 12000€ in Germany - funny how the Boxster is that much more expensive in it's country of origin)

And the Lotus comes with cupholders and a radio :)

The Boxster Spyder is only here for marketing purposes.

I guess you either get this car or you don't. It's not for long trips, it's not for daily use. This is a car for having fun and driving fast. For 60 grand you are getting a bargain sports car. The top isn't even worth mentioning. It's there for when you accidentally get stuck in the rain.

This car makes absolutely no sense, but I'm sure it'll sell well to people with more money than brains. If you're looking for raw performance this isn't the brand to goto, and if you're willing to pay a premium for a faster vehicle you should be looking at a 911 anyways. Removing all the niceties turns this car from a pussy getting cruiser into a "track car". Why not buy an EvoX at that point?

A gutted imprezza gc8 with an sti motor weighs 2300lbs for example, even with an full interior that's 2600lbs and still 200 less than this car.

For that price it should have carbon fiber body panels, not aluminum. No stereo needed, you should listen to the engine and tires. No AC needed, the top should be down unless it's cold, then you use the heater. Doorstraps are a nice touch to show off the weight savings.
