I used to have the game... until my brother broke it, but I'm planning on buying it again... soon. Love the music, I wish every game had music a lot like the Age of Empires series. Thumbs up if you agree. =)

ok people, How about Ensemble studios crank back up. Remake AOE 1 with all the same programming and concepts and such just with 3d models and the amazingness of today's technologies. However if they do this and they then mess with these glorious soundtrack I will have to go Photon man spam on their ass.

@Avatar230594 No. That would ruin what this game is, a piece of art. Just because technology has moved forward does not mean you go back to classics and try to re-do them, has the Mona Lisa been repainted? No. Has the Colloseum been rebuilt? No. There are reasons for this. We cannot taint that which is so already incredible with what we have now otherwise it loses its lustre.

Wow my last comment was 4 months ago..... anyways yes they should definately ramke this with no units removed but more types of them such as Javelinmen, added techs - none removed. more building choice (maybe the territory system in EE2) and the same soundtrack, more pop capacity, better graphics but units look similar.... I just want gthis remade God-Damnit! :)

@cataphract333 sweet, id like the same mechanics/engine, more units and something to solve the gold problem "when it runs out" I was thinking a trade system like in AOK or AOE3, but i think thats a bit cookie cutter. They should make a way to "mine" random areas for indefinite gold.

@aggbala It just wouldn't be the same, to be honest. AoE2 was one of the first PC games I owned. When the 'Ensemble Studios' logo came in with then amazing flashy effects I knew that these guys were something special.

Robot Entertainment is the successor to ES, and it's a private company. They're website is robotentertainment, google it. You should go on and tell them what you want. They might be working on it right now, we know they have two projects in the works.

One (or two) might be announced at E3 this year, or Leipzig.

@Avatar230594 I know far too complicated. the engine worked well for AOM but that was a new series and subsequently nothing was changed. however the maps on AOM WERENT FUCKING CIRCLE, WHY IS IT CIRCLE??!?!??!?!? That did annoy me quite alot :P

@rtzurtzufghjfghj A few reasons. One being that the map was round. That was horrible, the whole concept of the cards and your home city had it's ups and downs. I didn't like the campaign. The trade routes thing was alright. However in conclusion it broke alot of the traditions that which the first two had.

My reasons are just that I love only fights with bows, swords and so like in AOE 1&2 and not with these boring guns. And wars in our world up to 1700(?) were also "not epic" if you know what I say. Wars with guns aren't epic in my opinion. The whole game AOE3 doesn't make me feel like I am a king who want to a much greater kingdom and millitary than my enemys.^^

I mean sure, the time period in III was a natural progression from II + exp (and let's not forget you can get guns at the end of II too) but the whole setting with colonialism hasn't ever interested me a damned bit, and yeah guns are boring at least in RTS I think.

Another thing is that warfare approaching modern times has become increasingly UN-conventional, which doesn't work that good for the conventional style of AoE. It's all tactics nowadays

@eplemannen i prefer aoe2. with upgraded graphics. that would be awesome. i wish aoe3 didnt take away from the epicness with all the limitations and smaller maps, and the fact you can only have 2 teams in a game... :(
