Great video, great song and great editing. I had the privilege of seeing them in New Zealand and performing One Tree Hill....but not before a visit to the One Tree Hill park that same day.
This is a special song for me and for the band. Thank you very much for putting this video together.
We were there this night.. and just were floored when they did an impromptu peformance of One Tree Hill. It was imperfect and flawed and spontaneous and fantastic. Probably my favorite and most memorable song of the entire evening. We were singing our hearts out along with Bono and 80,000 other U2 fans. Just utterly unforgettable moment.
Thanks for posting... I have played this over and over about every other day for weeks now. Thank you, Mek, for you video editing skillz!
@juutuubify For U2, "crap" and "great" are not mutually exclusive. You should see an interview with David Guggenheim that Bono and The Edge did recently after the premier of the From The Sky Down documentary...Bono talks about how they used to be crap and great at the same time, but now they're headed more toward a place where they're only good, and that they need to go back to being crap and great. I was giving them a a subtle compliment. I don't mind them being human beings once in a while!
This is hilarious...this U2 in crap mode...Edge can't figure out what he's doing at the beginning, probably can't hear himself, shouts "SOUND!" at one point and his guitar tech Dallas is out on stage tinkering through a large portion of the song. Meanwhile, you have Bono, the poetic genius of this song in the first place, singing it like it's karaoke, standing in one place and looking down at his little monitor for each upcoming line. Mistakes are funny but I wish Bono would learn his lyrics.
@historybuff09 I would'nt call it crap.Sure it was out of blue and clearly they were sluggish in the beginning but they gelled pretty quickly. What do you expect from the show that has programmed to a detail.Sure it takes the techs a little time to get the sounds running.Moments like this make them the band they are. They are willing to step out of their comfort zone. Awesome!
@historybuff09 I would'nt call this crap . Bono not knowing the lyrics just proves he's human after all . What bothers me most is they played this in Chicago . They always get the best setlist there, unreal . I've seen so many shows, but never heard this live . The song has nothing to do with chicago, yet they played it a few times on the tour, including chicago . Anyway, I think it's a great performance and it shows the human class of the band . ILM of Greg Carrol, never forgotten .. !
and the day begs the night for Mercy Love.. she runs like a river to the sea, tears like a river to the sea...poets speak their hearts..we run like a river to the sea, tears like a river to the sea and when it's raining, raining heart, when it's raining she holds your heart..oh great river, oh great sea..I love you Bono, I love U2
U2 clearly have not rehearsed this song... But this makes it so much more interesting to watch compare to the songs that are on the default setlist... Bono seems pissed off about something at the beginning of the song... He say something like "oh, for f**k sakes" if you listen closely at around 0.17
That moment in time was so special... made the drive across the country worth every minute, every mile... to be there for this one song. Thanks to the guys from Ireland! :)
Amazing they played this on the 360° tour . I've been to so many shows but never seen this played live . Thanks to Mek's quality video upload, it is like I'm there, amazing ! Thanks Mek !

@getalife75 Edge said it. I think because he can't listen the guitar on his IEM.
Infect after he said "sound":)
