  • who is joe shouting at 2:42?

  • @sirdan180 probably some guy lit up a joint, and security or police tried to arrest them and the singer intervened. I saw this live at a 311 show at house of blues in orlando like 10 years ago. Was great some guy toked up, and lead singer of 311 said to him stop dont arrest him stop...and they stopped.

  • @sirdan180 He's shouting at the security and telling him to put a fan back into the crowd. The security must have been trying to throw the fan out. TRUE PUNK !!!

  • Joe Strummer...a great and a good man. We´ll see us in Glory.

  • awesome!!! i love this song and performance. 1:24 the finger :D

  • None cooler than Joe Strummer!!! Thanks for posting!

  • Joe Strummer was a musical god -- strait up awesome, no pretense, no BS. So glad I was able to see him, even if was only once. (It was at the old 9:30 Club in DC during the Earthquake Weather tour... In '90, I think.)

  • This man was a force of nature. No pretence, no bullshit, and not hidebound by fashion or celebrity. I was lucky to have met him a couple of times. He had SOUL.

  • @brack909 man, you are very lucky, you meet oone of the best musicians of 20th century

  • With all proper deference to the many great bands of the world, The Clash was the hands down the greatest band of all-time, and London Calling is the greatest album ever made.

  • "Film that you cunt film that!" Haha so right Joe stupid security! Never lost it still couldn't bare to see fans getting beaten up by security!!!

  • You're too fucking keen mate!

  • What a legend only if he was still alive at least we still have mick jones tho

    Leave the fucking guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    RIP joe, greetings from Brasil!

  • leave the fucking guy alone!

Awesome Joe!The world need more men like him!

  • In many ways, the Mescaleros were better than The Clash. When I saw them they were late, and apologized, hassled the security, and every third song was a clash song. Greatest live performance ever.

  • Miss you Joe. :(

  • He is THE MAN, he is THE MUSIC, he is THE LYRICS, he is ALIVE in everyone of us!!!

Please JOE if there is a paradise, in the life after death, tell to the Boss that we need you back!!!

  • i was at this show, and this remains the single greatest moment of my concert-going life. i love this man.

  • @BokononDisciple maybe you can clear up the situation with what was happening at the front when he starts shouting??

  • @nasratfatty from my memory, Joe was shouting at one of the bouncers because he was manhandling a fan that was either trying to get on stage or crowdsurfing. Joe FTW!

  • @BokononDisciple haha definitley, you can see the anger in his eyes and hear it in his voice, i love how he stuck up for the fans against those meathead bouncers you see so often! cheers.

  • @nasratfatty I've seen the unedited clip, the bouncers are preventing the fans from crowd surfing. Joe has a conversation with the bouncer in question, and tells the crowd they can't surf because of legal liabilities...says something like "they don't want you to brain yourself"

  • no this isn't music..music?

    this is more,it's magic.

  • what a fucking beatiful voice

  • porco dio!!!!!!

    non ho parole

  • king of fucking everything

  • lol its hilarious near the end when hes yelling at the guy to leave him alone and then he just stands there for about 3 min haha

  • enorme!!!

  • one and only.. rip joe...

  • "oi mr keen! you're too fucking keen, mate! "

    love it! :P

    excellent!

  • Great version!

    Greetings from Italy!

  • @tenidor GREETINGS FROM AMERICA!!!

  • Fantastic!!

I love the way he starts shouting "F**cking leave him alone"

    LEGEND!

  • how much you are missed..

  • This guy could run circles around guys half his age - even when he was almost a 50 y/o. Don't believe it? Watch some of the new groups covering clash songs. They have half the energy & half the talent.

  • @wirebead shit, you're so f*ckin' right

  • @wirebead If they had half the talent, they'd be famous...they don't have 100th the talent.

  • thank you so much joe!!!

  • 2:21

  • @PunkAndFun Amen!

  • Amen?Why?

  • it's crazy to think that someone in their middle ages could be just as exciting and energetic and meaningful as they were in their youth. I think the world basically lost one of the greatest thinkers and musicians of all time, and i don't say any of that lightly.

  • I don't think his age is very remarkable. Bob Dylan, Johhny Cash, Leonard Cohen, Jimmy Cliff, Bukka White, and of course Mick Jones -- these are but a few examples of artists that show us that "old young, age doesn't carry weight, it doesn't matter in the end".

It's a ridiculous notion that you're worthless after you turn 30. After all, with age comes experience and wisdom, which is highly evident in Joe Strummer's case.

  • I was just getting at is that by around 50 a lot of rock (punk included) musicians get kind of lazy on stage and unenergetic. I'm not gonna name names or nothing but Strummer definately had a lot of energy and ambition on stage. Also, I was getting at his age because it seems as most people get older they lose a lot of important views they had in youth. Strummer still sang those Clash tunes cos they were relevant and he meant them. But you gotta a lot of good points too.

  • what a guy what a band and what a track awesome

  • Brilliant!!!

  • 1952-dec.22,2002...we miss you joe! r.i.p.

  • what is the meaning of " it weighs is 1500 tons??

Love the clash, my favorite band ever

  • wow i could watch this all day long

  • That is the true spirit of punk. R.I.P. Joe.

  • Brilliant, thanks buddy

  • im now 57 but this song changed my life in 78, id been a punk since 76(pistols at notre dame) and my values are the same even now.2009...if it aint punk its shit!

  • Well, i can't agree. there's other music then punk that is good (in my opinion) and also punk isn't just about the music, it's so much more. and if u never listen to other music then punk, well no then it's just gonna be punk :p

No input no Output - Joe Strummer

  • Clash owns, video owns and Joe Strummer definitely owns

  • Happy Birthday Joe

thank you joe strummer! you will never be forgotten! Your music made you immortal!

guys, never stop to listen to him and to the clash! thank you!

  • everytime I hear this I get goosebumps! A gentleman indeed this man, God bless Joe Strummer!

  • just once i wish i could've seen this song live sung by joe, but no =(. i will have to hope for the second best thing, a freak jonsey/simo/headon reunion will have to do!

  • i was at this show at roseland

    it was a great moment....felt like a clash show for a brief moment...joe r.i.p.

it was great when he stopped singing and the crowd kicked in with the lyrics this definitely was not staged joe strummer is up there with bob dylan greatest song writer of my generation

  • This video is fucking fantastic. I saw the clash 3 times and the Mescs twice. I never met Joe, but he was more of a father than my real father through my whole teenage years. God bless you Joe !

  • Same here my friend

  • I love this video. been listening to it for days and on and on. :)

  • im only fifteen, but i've been an enormous clash fan all my life. i was only nine when Joe died, and it always bothers me that i could never see him live. i never met him but i miss him.

  • dude same here i wished he was alive.

  • I feel the same exact way. I'm 14 and I've been a clash fan all my life.

I wish there were more artists like him. He was so honest and true to his fans, I learned so much just by listening to his songs.I would have killed to have met him.

  • @joeduncan08 i was 4 when joe died but whteva joe and the clash have been my favorite for all my life and now i'm 12 all my friends listen to rap or pop but none of them will listen to some real music and this is as REAL as REAL music gets

  • @joeduncan08 I'm just 15 aswell and I feel just the same. Though I've just listen to them for like 2 years.

  • I never knew I could love someone I never met so much.

    I miss you Joe...

    We all do...

    Rest in peace friend

  • i know what you mean, i love him so much, and it doesnt matter that i never met him or like anything

  • i fuckin love this song!!!

  • "Leave the fucking guy alone, Oi film that ya cunt!"

This is why he's one of my heroes :)

He should have been made King of England

    RIP Joe ya legend!

  • Oi! leave the fucking guy alone!!

  • ...wicked song. Out of ten I'd give it twenty five!!!!

  • Absolutely incredible video

And as for the crowd surfer, bouncer thing. I don't see how or why it would be staged, and besides quite a few bands have had to tell off bouncers.

  • Yeah of course it was, bands do this stuff all the time its a common stunt !

I have seen the Clash in their day and they were superb !

  • this was not a stunt...i know the bouncer

  • I don´t think so. Joe has had a history of telling of bouncers, often stopping in the middle of a song to stop a fight.

I don´t see why he would suddenly start staging these things, there are enough of them as it is.

  • LEGEND, never saw the Clash, would sell my house for a fiver to buy a ticket to have seen them once, just once! saw the mescaleros 3 times, the mans awesome!!

  • just thinking of how good the clash was, that was a musical peak in history, in my opinion. nobody will EVER be able to bring the hapiness and joy to me like Joe does. hes just a legend, rest in peace.

  • I don't think it was staged from the get go, but Joe was brilliant to incorporate that happening so perfectely to the song the way he did...

    That performance is borderline unbeliavable...

  • that wasnt staged, are you mental!

  • i.

    miss.

    joe.

    so.

    much.

the world was such a cooler place with him in it.

  • Julien Temple thought Strummer was a 'mockney'. there is no way that he has any right to do a biog of the man. don letts, but not temple. he didn't quite get it, and is clearly just cashing in......

  • Joe Strummer..RIP

    Great Showman..Luv It

  • Great performance!

  • i saw the clash loads of times in the 70's and very early 80's, they were just a brilliant band to see live, and you went home and played every one of their lp's til you got sick of it, then by that time another tour was being organised and the cycle continued for ever... that was the days

  • What a cheeky legend of a guy.

How many lead men say " Fuck This" to, arguably, his best song in order to give a secruity an earload for cussing a crowdsurfer.

Joe Strummer is my absolute fave.

  • omfg, chills

  • I second that "OMFG"

And I don't do that often

  • I third that! Shit, that performance completely blew my mind, love every bit of it, thanks for uploading this, Aristotlekh!
