Blaming your self means a lack of confidence? To me it seems the opposite. If you can say "hey it was my fault i know i screwed up" you will have to much confidence that you actually accept that the world is not against you, and that you can come back stronger next time. Blaming the world seems more like trying to avoid the reality,
@tquest1 don't forget that they have 8,135nm of torque but their 730hp v8 road going cousin has around 3500nm of torque, they were indeed 3x heavier than normal sport car
they are limited to 160km/h by electronic.. also the sounds from tires and engines ect isnt real.. its all studio sound and doesnt even come close to the real sound of these things
sorry i meant the regulations force them to be limited to 160km/h for safety.. those monsters could easy be alot faster than that but that would need alot more safety things on the track
Yeah right, because you need very big and 2 expensive brakes to stop 5500kg from 160km/h to lower speeds, think about 200km/h or greater, brakes would be explode.
What he says about a smooth driving technique is absolutely true even in driving normal trucks. You learn to flow with the sometimes immense weights involved rather than fighting with them. For those of us who drive on the road, there is also the added factor of fuel consumption, so smoothness and smart use of weight is essential.
The engines are limited to 12 liters (usually 6 cyls as V or I formation) producing between 1200- 1600 bhp also with 5000 - 6500 Nm. They generates huge amount of torque at very low RPM so 5 secs to 100km/h or 10 secs to 160km/h is pretty fast considering it's 5 tones trucks, and they are also constructed for high acceleration, rather than top speed (about 230-240+km/h)
holy crap! are they on the ring? curling is a sport that involves a lethargic rock and you control it simply with a bunch of cheap ass brooms. but that doesnt stop it from being something hard enough to be worthy of being an olympic sport. enduros are like golf. smaller autocrosses are like cricket. its really cool to see that something so big and lumbering become something so gracefull in the righ hands. and that somebody makes money off of it.
@niklasmich no, he really does mean mph ...these things are seriously quick and I remember seeing one beat a Sapphire Cosworth from a standing start into the first corner at Silverstone.
@ExUSSailor Hum hum, actually there is some truck series in USA ;) Only problems, they are regional and marginal series... And, more often than anything else, they are on oval which is not bad, but road racing is not bad to...
@therrydicule Well, I will have to keep my eyes open. I live on the East Coast, and haven't seen any yet. Personally, I'm not too crazy about oval track racing. I find road racing much more exciting.
@ExUSSailor The problem is to develop these series... This is not easy: when it come to any racing series, you have to deal with a lot of problems: business problem, internal politics (teams, drivers, security official, track owner), external politics (city gov't, ecologic, sound), economics, para-judiciary (a rules book, driving license), assurance, accounting, measurement...
I would like to have the Super Truck from France (1400 hp/4800kg + tubular chassis) but I can't do that by myself.
@therrydicule No doubt. But, we didn't even have a road course in my area until a few years ago. Now, there's 2 within a 2 hour drive. And the older of the 2 hosts several AMA, SCCA, and even a Volkswagen TDI series event.
@ExUSSailor We had (may still have) our own.....When I was a kid, my grandparents took my cousins and I every year to see big rigs race at Pocono. It wasn't as popular here.....but we used even bigger trucks than these. It was quite badass imo. They were forced to start racing on dirt tracks because they ripped the shit out of the asphalt. Just try to picture Mack, International, Peterbuilt, etc trucks, souped up in racing trim going all out at Pocono.
Im deffinately want one of this trucks in my dream garage!) Just imagine face of some 911 driver that was overtaked by lorry somewhere at Nring xD ofc u need to disable limiter.
@Ilovetypography , no but the have very little tread , i was at the ring when this was filmed , we was racing a class d ERF B seris with a 14 litre big cam cummins with 900hp, we had friestone tires on then we but continental race tyres on this took 14 secs a lap of the time
God, I wosh this show would go back on the air. As a kid I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Too bad that narrator passed away, because I think that gravely voice made it even cooler.

"once a race driver starts blaming himself he's nearly finished, he's lost his confidence" ... What a bs. Without "blaming yourself" you can't recognize your mistakes, which is the first step on the road of preventing them from happening in the future.
yeah or if there were elfs flying around the truck while it was driving or dragons lying on the roof of the truck while it was driving and spitting fire!!
the driver steve parrish is a former motorcycle racer. There is a truck racing game called super trucks. If you have questions about truck racing, ask me. I am a big fan of this series.
As he said, the wings are to keep the formula's to the track, because they are very light and travel very fast. These things weigh, as said, over 5 tonnes and travel - compared to formula 1's - very slow.
I think NASCAR should add a truck racing series and I don't mean like the craftsman truck series, I mean like big rig kinda deal. But the races would have to be as long as the tires hold out cause it be kinda boring to have like a 4 minute pit stop in between.Yeah I can see it now haha The Freightliner Truck Racing series hahah I'd watch that.
what's the difference between cars going fast on ovals and truck?? none, because they never break much going into corners and since the banking helps combat the sideways G-forces where's the engineering skill in that?
in these truck races just braking a 5 ton truck requires serious brakes and water cooling in addition, not to mention driving one in a flat long unbanked curve is a hell of a lot harder than going on a banked oval round and round
Its not so much about the engineering skill as you say it is. Is more the excitement people would get out of watching that. If you want to watch fighter jets on wheels you watch F1 or the Le Mans series. But Nascar, is more about what people can do to car to make it go faster using suspension, roll bar, camber and air pressure adjustment, or else the car goes so fast that it becomes uncontrollable, but you already knew that right? Besides the ovals aren't completely flat so the car bounces
and if you have that bouncing its pretty dangerous, because you'll flip the car like nothing. Either way I was just saying that about a Nascar big rig series, so that it reaches wider audiences in America. idk how it is in Europe, but we have to pay extra to see F1, Touring Championships, while we get Nascar and Indy on national TV. Racing has always been about making a spectacle for the masses and having different. ways to entertain people is where the real technology is at
It also makes it more competitive. Like some of the cup races, where all the car are identical, it makes the drivers skill a deciding factor not the machines performance. And as stated already, when big trucks and speed are added together certain safety factors MUST be implemented.
Hey, the man with the CEPSA truck is the 2-times european truck champion, Antonio Albacete (Spain)
He started as a touring car driver in the Spanish touring car championsh but, when the championship disappeared, he became a truck driver (he doesn't like GTs or open wheels)
One more thing, after the "Parrish era", a Finland driver (the one with the CAT) won a few champs, then Albacete came and now, the reigning champ is a driver from Czech Republic driving a '08 Buggyra (Albacete finished 2nd with a '07 MAN TGA)
Races were normally held in secondary circuits (Jarama, Zolder, Most, etc) but now they are held in the best circuits (Montmelo, Nürburgring, Paul Ricard, Le Mans and more)
God your an idiot. Twelve hundred is just another way to say one thousand two hundred, it flows a little easier during conversation. A lot of people say it that way. Teachers say it that way for Christs sake. Stop trying to sound intelligent, you've already failed miserably at it.

I think NASCAR should add a truck racing series and I don't mean like the craftsman truck series, I mean like big rig kinda deal. But the races would have to be as long as the tires hold out cause it be kinda boring to have like a 4 minute pit stop in between.Yeah I can see it now haha The Freightliner Truck Racing series hahah I'd watch that.

what's the differences between a peter built baby and a one that's not peter built?
The baby that's not peter built comes from a test tube

what's the difference between cars going fast on ovals and truck?? none, because they never break much going into corners and since the banking helps combat the sideways G-forces where's the engineering skill in that?
in these truck races just braking a 5 ton truck requires serious brakes and water cooling in addition, not to mention driving one in a flat long unbanked curve is a hell of a lot harder than going on a banked oval round and round

Fezz050 2 years ago
and if you have that bouncing its pretty dangerous, because you'll flip the car like nothing.

How da hell do you set a "MAXIMUM" speed for a "RACE"?? safety? rofl speed at your own risk...
dahkillahmac 3 years ago
it`s for the safety of the crowd not the drivers. the barriers can`t stop a 5 ton truck at over 100 mph

Wow!
But when he say "twelve hundred and fifthy"
what he means???
twelve hundred don't exist!
It's amazing that he can handle gears.
hummm, after the first what comes? the four or the twelve?
One hundred and twenty = 120
One thousand and two hundred= 1200
Twelve thousand= 12000
Now repeat.
Dante1969 3 years ago
God your an idiot. Twelve hundred is just another way to say one thousand two hundred, it flows a little easier during conversation. A lot of people say it that way. Teachers say it that way for Christs sake. Stop trying to sound intelligent, you've already failed miserably at it.
