  • Everything he plays is excellent. Love it!

  • This is my favourite performance of this piece. Excellent. 10 out of 5.

  • Perfect.... what more can I say?

  • This performance is just perfect. Nobody could play it better and nobody ever has. Thank you, Mr. Lenner!

  • @fredericko9 Maybe Beethoven himself mate...

  • Edward Lenner is /the/ most underrated pianist I've heard on youtube. Simply wonderful playing.

  • I love the volume control. I agree, world class.

  • that was a world class performance.

  • Good. Very good.

  • Perfect!

  • highschool 1st grade piece.

  • show a video of you playing it then mate

  • i love this sound

  • DanielBeetsma you really have no idea what you're talking about. That was great tempi at intro! Not slow at all.

  • holy shnikeys you r tottay awesome

  • u r tottaly awesome . dood you could play for a livin one day

  • dood that was awesome

  • Superb - reminds me of a recording by Dubravka Tomsic; you've made it your own tho' .

  • you have perfect finger movements

  • I'm not worthy!

  • The technical requirement of hte Waldstein Piano Sonata surpass any czerny's piano exercises. If you think you can master the Czerny Op 740 you are only at the tip of this Piano Sonata !

  • Great performance. Love the theme from 1:26~1:40 (and its repetitions / evolutions afterwards)

  • sounds better than other recordings!

  • perfectly articulated, on beat, and great interpreation, emotion, tempo was not rushed as well. great!

  • It's a little cold... No?... It's very exact, but too dry I think. Good job anyway.

  • awesome performance! the opening theme always reminds me of the neverending story for some reason.

  • Super, époustouflant, toutes mes félicitations ! Mais vous pourriez peut-être prendre un peu plus de temps dans le "choral".

  • That was great. I'm trying to learn this one but just in the beginning stages. You seem to have a built-in metronome in your head. Anyhow, great job!

  • beutiful interpretation. I love this sonata. You play it superb

  • smithsherman makes some telling points. In terms of interpretation, I would say idiosyncracies or a more liberal interpretation of the piece shouldn't be supressed. You're a clinical technician but there's a bit of the sterile coming through here. I would love to hear more of your stuff. You are incredibly talented. Reach for some depth of contrast. Dramatize those pianos and fortes and linger on the phrasing. I can imagine you play Bach with some dexterity.

  • if you cant do better shut up...i hate people like you

  • Read his whole comment: he said "Youare incredibly talented". Sirrom thinks this guy is a genius, and is giving him pointers on how to be even better. No problem with that.

  • i hate people like you who think people have to be better to criticize on someone. Criticism is criticism, no matter how good you are or if you are better than the person. Unless your saying positive criticism is bad too?

  • Nice.. you play very fluently...

  • Everyone is talking about the Barenboim interpretation, is there a video of him playing on youtube (playing Waldstein i mean)? Great video by the way.

  • Lovely. My favorite sonata is definetly this one.

  • Wonderful. You started playing and never stopped, and all of your notes were so clean and even, which is a sign of excellent technique. I can always compare this piece(and Bach's "Solfeggietto") to trains that never stop to rest and just keep going. Beautiful.

  • Dear Ed,LVB is on to something here.Acquire the

Bärenboim and use it as a compedium on interpretive

strategies that can turn Beethoven from a vital

disturbing fantastical thing to such a benignely

refined creme-puff lullaby, that even the most

inveterate sleep-apniasts will finally get some

    rest.Your Friend,Smith

  • You are an awesome kid! I LOVE your playing!

    FIVE STARS, favored, and SUBSCRIBED!

    LOVE it!

Keep up the excellent work! I love that kids still love the classic.

    (^o^)

    (> <)

    hugz!

  • OwarrO, are you Eduard Lenner? Anyway, nice playing.

Have you seen Daniel Barenboim's master class on the

Waldstein? It is a wealth of great information that you may want to see on DVD! It's worth every penny!

  • great job, i didn't like it as much until i heard this

  • Wow ! This Sonata is SOOO beautiful and you have done a very precise work on it. Your musical involvment is quite perfect, your technique is well employed. It's so clean !!

    Bravo bravo !

  • What I liked most in your playing was a tendency

towards tongue and cheek. The structure was at times

almost subtle and almost not predictable.I wish

that you would build on these characteristics

and make your Beethoven experience a delightfully

    unpredictable,unmechanical,rhetorically inventive

experience.Don't look to your contemporaries for

    inspiration in this,though!

  • Bravo dude. That was excellant. It was nice that you didn't play it too fast.

  • brilliant.

  • I like it fast good job dude must of worked very hard 5 stars

  • just awesome, so flawless played

  • fantastic interpretation. I love this Sonata, it is one of my favorites

  • perfect

  • :-) Thanks for the recording... enjoyed it much.

  • awesome! this is one of my favorite songs ever! i like to call them songs just to piss of the people who get mad.

great technique. it sounds so clean. nice voicing and coloring too. and you have a really great touch. it's so light and playful during the right parts. good job. and you play the really melodic part with the chords so nicely!

  • very well played!

maybe a little bit opening in crescendos but overall is very clear and solidly played, I think the tempo is fine, it does not need to be faster...

  • sounds nice. i'll learn that

  • Not as fast!? Any faster and it would be a stream of white noise. I prefer this performance to Gilel's.

  • Very nice, although the repeated chords @ the start and elsewhere in the piece seemed too slow to me: i heard repetition instead of a mystery. I am not a piano teacher, but since the speed you have chosen seems to fit your style very well in the rest of the piece, perhaps you should sustain those repeated chords (c+ and later f+) a little more; or make them grow, to get rid of the chop-chop-chop feeling. U're a very good player.

  • Very nice. I think your performance may not 'seem' as fast as others because you maintain clarity at all times-clarity of notes and clarity of phrase.

I would suggest experimenting with your posture. Try sitting further from the keyboard so that you can lean in and get more weight into your hands. Also your shoulders slouch a bit. Try a more upright posture and deep breaths, without tensing up.

    Overall, very nice.

  • thought it was a good steady tempo not too fast, not too slow. Fantastic technique. I'm learning the piece now and it's dang hard specially some of those trills/oscillating passages. Your tone in some of the slower passages was beautiful would have been better live - is that a steinway you're playing on?

  • great job!

your technique is awsome the only thing is that the song is acually alot faster then you play it. but its still amazing. :)

  • It's a piece, and there's NO way this would sound better faster. It will lose its musical sense. I've heard it played faster, and it sounds pretty ridiculous. This tempo is pretty good.

Anyway. Great performance :) How old are you?

  • ironmaiden4580,

Oh, so you are a scholar on Beethoven tempi?

Many pianist's play it at this tempo. Just because

you may have heard pianist's play it faster doesn't

mean anything. By the way, its not a song. A song has lyrics.

  • Listen to Arrau's version... ;)

  • i like Arrau's playing, this is pretty good also :)

  • ??? show me a recording that is "a lot faster" please O_o

  • really good!

    wonderful!

    exellent!
