In shows like this it is common that bands don't play/sing live. There are exceptions, but there certainly is no band/artist out there that never mimed. And mostly it's not the artist's choice. The producers of the shows want it that way.

How often do I see fans saying here something like "oh no, my favourite band never mimes or never lip synces, they would never do this". It's just not true. So what!

The bad thing is if something is presented as live and actually isn't.

I know it's common in these shows, but I don't think that makes sense. Why can't it be live? And bands always DO have a choice: not to appear on such a show. Nirvana were once 'forced' to mime, but they didn't want to do so, so they didn't even pretend to be playing while the music was running... They were just randomly fooling with their guitars... I kind of like that statement....

I can see why bands do mime, though... If they want to be on such a show to get publicity...

3. Appearances in such shows often aren't live, no matter if the artist would be able to do a good live performance.
