I advise against feeding frogs for the simple reason that they are so stressed of late. Many kinds under threat worldwide.Goldfish are nutritionally horrible and a vector for disease: why would you put anything that came out of those filthy feeder goldfish tanks in with a prized fish. Feed pellets, frozen foods, and if you want to feed live fish, raise some feeder guppies or platies yourself. Seriously: I know of many instances where the feeder fish brought some loathsome parasite or disease.
.. However, a frog of that size has already been alive for some time. Beetles have a much easier time of breeding and live much shorter lives overall. Why not feed pellets more often? (I only say this because you brought up 'saving lives')
@ibexien If you understand about Oscar fish, you will know that they eat live food in the wild. I also feed it pellets very often and it will also eat. However, most pellets are also made from live prawns/fish. At the end make no different.
@Ceroman321 Baby Oscar better put in small tank alone, will be bully by other bigger fishes. Feed pellets will do. Must train it to eat dry pellets first. When grow bigger than mix other live food with pellets.
what size tank should i get, i was gonna get a tiger oscar fish at petco the other day, but instead i got 2 earth eaters in a 10 gallon. when i get my 40 gallon, should i put a tiger oscar fish guppie in the ten gallon?
@montiago123 My Oscar will eat anything (dry pellets/live food) anytime. Some fish (carnivorous) in nature will eat other fishes so I don't go against the nature.
@GIBSONGASPER123 And in the wild Fish often catch parasites, that doesnt make it healthy. Feeding live increases your chance of your fish getting parasites. Its your fish your choices, but to base your statement off "Its what they do in nature" and act like thats going to protect them it wont.
@hejas76 Yes, I shared your view. maybe I used to eat frog meat and feed frog to Oscar and Arowana. Please allow me to be a frog in my next life so that I can feed myself to those smart fishes.
It's illegal in Australia and the US to use vertabrates as live food. (For those of you asking where to get them) Frozen ones that are killed humanely are the way to go or insects (invertabrates) who can't feel pain.
I just bought an tiger oscar fish tat is alil bigger than yours that hasn't been eating for a whole week now. We have him in a 50 gallon tank. Before i bought the oscar, it was eating fine at the pet store but now it not even eating at all. Do you guys know what's wrong with it?
Sir. I must say. That is one healthy Oscar. Unbelievable in size. One question mine is about 2.5 inches and I have had it for 2 days. I'm not sure why but it wont eat any of the tiny guppies i got for it. Or the pellets made for it. I'm quite positive that it has nothing wrong internally or externally. What should I do?
@CombativeAirsoftFan oscars can be picky eaters...try not feeding it for a day then it will realize that it will have to eat not matter what you give it
O man your tiger is about 2in bigger then mine and I never thout about feeding him frogs happy days to come for samson lol next time try a mouse my guy loves them
i have 2 oscars ones a bit smaller than the other but they seem to get on quite well i haven't fed them frogs or anything like that (well i've fed them mealworms) but do you think i should feed them somthing bigger? also what was that in the bottom of the tank at 0:48 it looked like a turtle or somthing ...and it moves?? nice fish by the way
@TurboJet45 From what I know Oscar fish are territory fish, you can put more fishes in the tank to make it confuse about it territory but never put less than 5 (depend on your tank's size). In the wild, big fish eat small fish. so don't worry about can feed something bigger or not. Your Oscar will assess by itself. o:48 terrapin (put inside just to make video, not suitable to put in in fish tank as it need both water and land to rest)
@GIBSONGASPER123 Yeah, that's true. I wasn't saying anything against what you choose to feed. I was just using the goldfish example to point something out to mangomartin10.
LOL @ the description: If I give my Oscar superworms,I need to give 5 to 6 each time(i.e:killed 5 to 6 life). To reduce the killing rate to living things,I feed my fish with small frog.(one per day)
those are some beautifule tiger oscars . i have 2 tiger oscars and there small about 3 or 4 inches long. i keep them in my small 10 gallon tank then release them in my larger 60 gallon tank to swim with my larger 9 inch oscars . how long do you think i have till they should be released into my larger tank so they wont be eaten by my larger oscars ?
@DeerHunter5150 I had a foot oscar along with 2 4-6 inch oscars and they were fine. I had a large tank with hiding areas so even if the large one starts bullying the young ones they area to swim away and hide. Oscars are not really aggressive fish they just love to eat.

@GIBSONGASPER123 gr8 i have 2 oscar but is only 2 years and 2 or 3 weeks i think but i feed them growing , normal food , frozen , live .
filter is clearing evry single dirt evrything as i would like to leave the tank clean not even a insect there.but gr8 job man i sometimes feed my oscar frogs but 3 max same as u
@sothgunfil The turtle will eat the Oscar's 'left over' at the bottom of the tank. You know Oscar fish are messy eater, so the job of the turtle is to clean my tank.
@dcor808 We don't calculate the tank by galon so I can't anwser your question. For 90cm x 45cm (i.e: 3feet x 1.5 feet) can only keep one adult Oscar about 28cm. Of course depending on the size of the fish. (you can keep 20 over baby Oscars)
@dcor808 to answer your question, At first two, but oscars can grow pretty fast. A full grown oscar would need the entire 55 gallon for himself to be completely void of any problems. They might fight the others if the space becomes too congested. But 2 should be fine.
hey i have an albino and tiger oscar both of them i bought three months ago. They are about 8 inches long.Everthing was fine but from the last two days tiger oscar became too agressive, it bang on the glass, try to eat snails and brawling with albino. And my poor albino is very scared of him.I tried to control his temper by putting a net and scaring him but that doesn't works. The moment i step out of sight, he try to do some really agressive feats. Please help me to solve the problem.Tank is 55gall

@GIBSONGASPER123 Wow a 3 ft tank for an oscar...............you suck, and im surprised you didnt eat your frog and/or your fish for that matter!!!!!
DerangedDrew 1 year ago
@DerangedDrew I only eat big bull frogs. Small frogs are for my Oscar fish. I love fish but also like to eat fish.

My father had one that was about 5cm long and he through a south west african freshwater frog in and the frog was about the same size, the fish held on to its one leg for about an hour before letting go, and he had one about 20cm big that ate 20 mosqueto fish in roughly five minutes

hi what size of tank do i need for a pair?
lfclikewalfc 1 year ago
@lfclikewalfc for Oscar fish, you better keep one or keep more than 6. Never keep 2,3 or 4. They will fight. Just like luo Han fish and arowana.
