  • Well professor the data specks for it's self

  • imagine armor lock in real life!!

  • Armor lock nerf coming soon : D

  • this video makes me hate armor lock even more. but the one thing i cant stand is that it will make vehicles explode if you try to splatter someone with AL. as if making you invincible isnt enough....

  • So.......don't get close to people in armor lock......wait until that short second is over then shoot. Simple, problem solved, stop bitching.

  • @2Lazy4aRealName Stop bitching about bitchers.

  • @mepain1 Back at 'cha

  • @2Lazy4aRealName In those 4 seconds or so, enemy players are likely to converge on you, and you can easily be killed, saving the nooby armor locker who should have been killed then and there. Shields also regenerate in AL, so it's not as simple as waiting and shooting. In that time, the Armor locker also has an opportunity to plan his or her next move, such as hiding behind cover, or throwing a nade. We shouldn't have to adapt to a loadout that slows down the game.

  • @snailzillascreator If you don't like a slow fps, than halo probably isn't your game. It takes 5 headshots to kill a person with the dmr, I'd call that pretty slow. Halo is all about strategy, if you want a fast fps, play cod. I end this conversation.

  • @2Lazy4aRealName I love Halo, I enjoy it immensely. It isn't really slow paced, it just takes patience and skill. Armor lock interrupts gameplay like a slap to the face, and that's definitely not a good thing.

  • 55 people are AL noobs:D

  • @David91823 Spoken like a true noob

    lol

  • Thanks for the video, very informative. I thought there was something fishy going on. =p Thanks also to introducing some simple counters for this "frosting" =]

  • When you're up behind someone in armor lock there is no point in trying to assassinate them as they are well able to turn the 180 degree turn and hit your first. FUCK YOU ARMOR LOCK AND FUCK YOU USERS OF ARMOR LOCK. I wish i just knew some of you in person. Best believe i'd fuck someone up for pissing my bi polar ass off. On top of that the part of LA that i'm from isn't very very nice AT ALL. And no one in my part of town is a bitch. So trust me when i say i'd fuck someone up.

  • thats why i only play squad and arena now!

  • 2:42 "de-icing"? You should say defrosting, right? No big deal

I officially hate AL even more now

  • Comment removed

  • that was when reach was first released. with all the title updates im sure thats completely changed now

  • @fidelis65 There never were any.

  • Never noticed these problems. Still don't.

  • Tell me that's no Over powered!

Nades, sniper, melee. Were all stoped by Al!

    D=

  • Who says he Didn't modify damage? That Sniper Headshot did damage to his Shield Still.. Immune to headshots and Damage modifier would cause that. So he's not "Invulnerable" this video was made by Someone that hates AL. That is all. He claims frosting doesn't appear on "Half-Length" and then has to take an additional shot on a No Shield target to headshot him? yea.. seems like damage is tweaked. Now way to know fer sure. BUT I will indeed test this with a Second controller. No damage tweaks

  • @WilliamLytle57 No, all this happens to me in multiplayer games without damage modifiers. This is just a very well made video. Simple as that. Shows so many of the issues with AL.

  • @WilliamLytle57 High-damage weapons (especially those with splash damage), can damage an AL user through frost. The rockets and plasma grenades both damaged him, with the rockets being a kill, so it's not unreasonable that the sniper damage would be minuscule though still apparent.

  • Adapt

  • @cbohus

Suck a cock? Testers and developers should quality test their games.

  • @cbohus Yah, you will definitely need to learn to play the game without Armor Lock, lol.

Look, the video shows so many issues about Armor Lock. Proves them. Explains them. If you like Armor Lock, fine. But it is incredibly broken and needs to be fixed, or else everyone will consider AL users to be unskillful, noobish, etc.

  • I pray someone important from Bungie or 343 will see this.

  • Reach Sucks.

  • Seriously just get rid if AL already like fawk!! It slows gameplay period!! Nuff said!!!

  • Excellent video. It's amazing to me that this happens even on a local host-- it's about ten times worse with the slightest amount of latency with an internet connection. I've actually had it where someone was one-shot, armor locks, and then proceeds to run and shoot at me while still completely frosted. I put about 4 more DMR shots into the head of someone who should have been one-shot, only to be killed by this walking, shooting armor locker. Ridiculous.

  • Play the MLG playlist. No double melee and no Armor Lock. Problem solved.

  • Also, if you shoot them every so often(not a lot) while they're in AL, it will keep their shields from recharging.

  • It's honestly not that hard to combat someone using Armour Lock. All you have to do is either go away, and find another kill. If you are wanting to kill them, toss a grenade at their feet when they exit, or when it's about to wear off, and have your weapons reloaded. Aim for their head with your weapon, and you should be fine.

  • Ok look, I'll explain frosting, it was put there so that people would not be insta-killed when they came out of AL, it gives them a chance to get back into battle instead of: "hey I'm ba-*headshot*.

See what I'm trying to get across?

  • @ShadowwPhoenixx Yes, frosting is ridiculous babysitting for people who've already gone with the most easy-to-use and most powerful AA.

  • oh course bungie wont even comment on this when the evidence is right fucking there.

  • SCIENCE!

  • your a faggot and you should die !

  • @doomedskater7

Grow up. Oh, and it's You're*, not Your. You used the wrong version. ;D

  • excellent vid

  • with the sniper rifle, you simply wasted a shot by shooting to early. just shoot him a second later. i remember when I was playing Team Slayer on Boardwalk. I say a guy go into armor lock across the map. As soon as he came out and his head popped up, i sniped him. big deal

  • @tacospartan

you are a dumb bitch, armor is for faggots and you are defending it.

  • aw, cry me a river

  • @tacospartan the chance of this happening online is too rare. Almost always there is frosting.

  • ok, but again, you only wasted one shot. big deal.

  • @tacospartan One shot makes the difference.

  • What is the map O.O it looks cool!

  • Wasn't this fixed already?

  • @xSolarFlare15x There hasn't been an update to Reach other than playlist updates.

  • @xSolarFlare15x No. Bungie hasn't even acknowledged the problem.

  • If you take out health along with the shields of your opponent, the regeneration system would regain health bars first before shields. Since you lose health along with the shields 90% of the time, there are still no shields after armor lock leaving a moderately coordinated opponent an easy headshot.

  • @xSolarFlare15x I don't believe losing health has any impact on shield recharge time, unless you took damage a short time after your shields were lost, which would reset the timer to when your shields recharge.

  • I love this vid!

  • me and my team are armor lock pros you can check out Team Lock Up on facebook and also check out XxTeamLockUpxX channel!

  • AL needs a patch like my jeans...IMMEDIATELY

  • Armor Lock does seem to be over powered... but as we can see, if they were caught out in the open, they would still get owned. 2 seconds isn't enough to get to cover on some maps...

  • @superblahmanofdoom most maps have indoor areas. Armor lockers live there.

  • i love rockets :]

  • I love Reach, and have no problem with AL, but I must say that these inconsistencies reflect poorly on Bungie.

  • GET OVER YOURSELVES, IF U CANT KILL A AL USER, YOU DONT BELONG HERE, WAIT FOR THE AL GUY TO NERLY RUN OUT, AND THROW A FREAKING GRENADE, ITS THAT F**KING SIMPLE. ANYONE WHO DOESNT UNDERSTAND SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS THAT, GTFO OF REACHS MULTIPLAYER AND GO BACK TO COD!!!!!

  • @ShadowwPhoenixx you sir, did not understand what you just saw.

  • I guess all I can say is... so what? All it proves is that a person who uses Armor Lock isn't fully out of Armor Lock until the animation is complete. (as in, they're standing fully erect, with their weapon in it's neutral position) <_<

    *ahem*

Anywho, what this has truly proven, is that an Armor Locked player has a split second "cooldown" on their invincibility after coming out of armor lock, during the time it takes the player's avatar to ready his/her weapon.

    So... no surprises here?

  • @Skillet98

In that cooldown time though they can still shoot and melee though whilst they are invincible.

  • @Skillet98 it is to the social community of reach, not the competitive community however.

  • Armor Lock would be very useful in our daily lives. Just imagine someone throwing a rock at you, but WAIT! What is this? Deflected! Yup. Seriously though, AL is radical. :D

    (m)s

  • Being invincible is stupid, in every single way.

  • try not standing next to him

  • You write as if this is some sort of important report, you sound like a twat.

  • You have proved that there is no frosting effect. In all these instances, when you shoot your opponents there gun isn't all the way up, so they can't shoot. It wouldn't be fair if they couldn't shoot, but you could kill them.

  • Now, on the non-full AL use... That's obvious. You timed when the full use would pop out. The non-full use was a surprise to you so there was a delay in your reactions. This gives that frost enough time to die out and you kill.

The fact still remains. Armor Lock is a bitch's way of playing. It's unskillful, and down right stupid they actually put it in multi-player. It's fine for Co-Op and Firefight, but it does NOT belong in Multi.

  • When it comes to the sword, assassination, beat down, it's all a matter of damage output from the weapons and their variable damage. The frosting has stopped me from killing with any of those three on a secure connection. There is no definitive damage on Reach like in other Halo's. It's stupid and unprofessional of Bungie to not have perfected the weapons or at least released a patch to fix some things.

  • armor lock only does that if you time it just right, because your sheild will recharge after like 4-6 seconds, but that is on the same xbox so it could have something to do with that. and dude body shot dont do as much as a head shot, hints the 4 body shots 1 head shot. again your on the same xbox so there is no lag or connection lag so you cant really prove your point until you prove it on live, sorry.

  • On the sniper, the frosting effect is clearly there, but there's a counter for this... you're timing when AL releases and shooting immediately. You don't do that. You have to time it right. I've never had an instance where I've not killed an AL user when they pop out of it with the sniper to the head.

  • On the DMR one, the frosting effect blocks your shot on the first hit out of 3 coming out of AL. Armor Lock lasts 5 seconds. Spartan's shields start to generate at 5 seconds, so your second hit was blocked by the recharging shield, and the last one took him down. The frosting does exist, but so does residual shield.

  • did the sniper rifle do damage or did it just stop the player's shield from recharging?

  • Good video! Now I know exactly what to do when I'm in a position with an armor lock user. Thanks!

  • So this video is showing frosting, but no warm-up? You are not invisible until your fist touches the ground. That leaves you completely immobile and vulnerable for the same amount of time as the frosting lasts.

  • @OniLink147 you're never invisible because it's armor lock you dumb fuck

  • @HarryTmitch Way to be a douche and throw a shit fit over a typo. I meant to say invincible.

  • @OniLink147 Fuck you, you fucking illiterate twat

  • Hey aren't you that person that got crushed by a flying pig in halo 3?

  • @TheSonicWarrior The only thing fail is Halo Reach, I constantly get paired with low level players who've probably never gone positive once. I'm lucky if i get one team mate who went positive, that's why they need to put in skill/rank based matchmaking.

Having bad team mates makes the game crap, its not fun to see yourself going positive but still losing the game because your team are going -12, -10, -8, -7 and so on.

  • @CrawlingIntoDarkness Seriously? I was a 12 skill in Team Slayer in halo 3 and i consistantly got paired up with people my rank on my team and high levels in the other. Skill/Rank based matchmaking never worked in halo 3 and it deserves no place in reach. NOR DOES MLG

  • @TheSonicWarrior Anyone who goes negative deserves no place in Reach, they wreck the game for everyone.

MLG's decent, sometimes you get paired with players with actual skill.

  • @CrawlingIntoDarkness You're being over dramatic. So what if they go negetive? That either means they just got the game and are new to Halo in general or they ARE good just having a bad day. I go negetive at least 3 or 5 games a day, and I don't get all mad. IMO MLG is just a playlist of over competetive 13 year olds who haven't seen the sunshine in at least 12 years.

  • @CrawlingIntoDarkness "Anyone who goes negative deserves no place in Reach."

    LOGIC FAIL!

You do realize that for there to be a winner someone will go negative right? Or were you too busy playing video games to pay attention in Math class?

  • @touchoffinland I meant going negative as in bad players, you being one of them.

Your logic fails aswell. Math class didn't teach winning or losing, obviously if you went you'd know that.

  • @CrawlingIntoDarkness Yes, I understand that you believe when someone has a negative K/D in a game that makes them bad. However, you can't say that my logic fails because I pointed out that it was statistically impossible for everyone to have a positive or neutral K/D with a definitive winner, thereby making it necessary for people with a negative spread to be in the game. Learn the meaning of the word logic, apply it and get back to me if you think you want to try and debate with the big dogs.

  • All armor abilities should be removed & they should make matchmaking skill/level based again.

  • @CrawlingIntoDarkness So you want a complete remake of halo 3?...fail

  • n00bs, learn to play.

  • Funny. After watching this video, it makes me wonder even more what the complainers of AL are talking about. Sure, they're invunerable, but they still die in the end. You might waste 1 or 2 bullets of a high ammo weapon (like the DMR, with 75 total rounds fully loaded), but they will die.

  • @Hdinoify - You're not thinking about it in the correct context. 2 bullets is a lot when it only takes 5 to kill someone, it's 40% of the battle. So the AL user has a 40% advantage over the non AL user.

  • Comment removed

  • @Alkahsu

True, you make a good point. But there is more than one way to kill someone. If you are low on ammo, try using a grenade as demonstrated in the video.

  • What map is that?

  • I'm not seeing frosting. Time it. Spartan shields recharge after 5 seconds of being depleted. Armor Lock LASTS nearly 5 seconds. Since there's not a definitive time from the last hit the person took, until the user comes out of AL, shield generation will happen while in AL. The frosting effect doesn't exist. It's the natural shield generation and the fact that damage doesn't "bleed through" players in Reach as it did in some cases in Halo 3.

  • @NazoZero Why doesn't a snipr to the head kill them then?

  • good job bungie.

  • at least now i will know why i didn't kill them with a dmr...

  • Well-Friggin-Done.

    Thumbs up for knowledge.

  • They are trying to mislead by saying that the armor-locked player get better shields after armor-locking. You still have enhanced shields for about 1 second after coming out of armor-lock then it totally disappears and in that 1 second you cant move or attack either. So the producers are just trying to trick you into thinking you always have better shields after being in armor lock by shooting at that person straight after they come out of armor lock.

  • @JPEXALTRA1 no, you can move in that one second. did you not see him melee RIGHT after coming out of armour lock?

  • @lordnimr0d Then you are playing against disorganized teams who don't know what they are doing. Just because they never happen to you doesn't mean they don't happen.

  • @lordnimr0d You're Cool i really mean this

  • so i need to walk around with plasma pistol and rockets to fight armor lockers?

  • This just shows how Armor lock is broken. Honestly, I don't mind AL being in the game, it just needs to be tweaked to make it a bit more balanced.

-Get rid of the full charge "frosting" as shown in this video, it gives users the ability to attack while still invulnerable.

-Get rid of Sticky grenade shedding, it makes the Plasma's absolutely useless, and no threat to users of AL (Especially in Elite Slayer)

  • @Delta1382

-Take away the ability to turn around while armor locked, when you pop out you should still be facing the same way you were before, get's rid of backwards melees.

-There should be a time period between uses and it should also last a bit longer even if it's just one click of the button, so no quick little melee blocks (Honestly the most frustrating about AL, you punch a guy in the face, but he armor locks and pops back out before you even pull your arm back and he hits you

  • b.net was heerr!

  • It's just so damn disappointing that in spite of all the improvements made in Halo Reach compared to 3 they had to lower the skill gap so much by adding AL, weakening normal weapons and overpowering power weapons.

  • @uninterestingentity

I use AL to block the grenade spammers and nubs who run up and double-melee. If you think i'm a noob for using AL to cockblock the no-skill, nade-spamming, double-meleeing nubs, then oh well. I'll be a noob then.

And I never have a problem with killing another AL user. Keep your distance and stop relying on meleeing to kill someone. 60% of the people i've encountered with that opinion tend to favor meleeing shit over using their DMR. You have a gun. Stop punching people.

  • @WtfteamALJM Not everyone who used AL is a noob, but nearly every noob uses armor lock.

I have very little problems killing AL-idiots 1v1 to, but it slows the game to a crawl, hands out kills to people who don't deserve them and lowers the skill-gap.

I mean honestly, every single game I come across where AL is not used (much) is just so much better then the boring, noobish, sluggish game that AL-users turn Reach into.

  • @uninterestingentity I just ordered Reach online today. I should get it on Tuesday. I'm definitely going to use armor lock just to piss off nerds like you.

  • @WtfteamALJM I think most people's frustration with Armor Lock comes with the "bugginess" of it displayed in the video. I personally think it slows the game down, but as you point out, it has its valid uses. However, in a close quarters scenario, AL is superpowered, and also as the video points out, using the DMR doesn't really work that well. (I know your response was from 2 months ago, but I still felt like replying.)

  • Great vid man

  • i love AL lol this just shos how sweet it is. kids need to stop haten

  • @Over9000Wolfz ihateyou

  • This definitely needs a second episode about turnaround speeds coming out of AL, and the speed the armor locker can melee and AL or AL and melee. Bungie had the right idea with Armor Lock, the problem is that it needs to balance itself with the other armor abilities (which NEVER grant invulnerability AND being able to make an offensive move). It feels too much like its trying to balance out player skill, which is something that should never be put into a competitive gaming situation.

  • AL should stay in, all the other AA offer extreme advantages over regular play.

removing it from the game is not the solution. increasing it's cool down time or decreasing uses per charge are not the solution either.

what needs to be fixed is the ability for those using AL to shoot or punch before the effect wears off completely.

The instant the effect is gone the player should be able to move and shoot, not before as illustrated above.

  • ill just say this... if u get killed by an armor locker who was alredy aware of ur presence and AL'd just to last a little longer, u were outplayed. if this happens to u and u say AL fails. then u r the noob for not being able to counter it. i use it alot (300+ rejections) and i do have a +K/D. but i can get around almost any AL user easily. so if ur hating on AL, ur obviously a noob. get over it.

  • 40 people abuse AL.

Also don't go thinking that you can just assassinate any AL user because they can instantly turn around as soon as they leave AL.

  • @leeringpaladin

    REALISM MAN.

    /sarcasm

  • @leeringpaladin

They dont instantly turn around, they actually punch through their own stomach outwards of their back and into the other player, at least thats what it looks like <_<

  • im untouchable wit armor lock lol i own

  • While I understand the reasons people complain, I think it should stay in the game mainly because it is a really good team armor ability. What I mean is that it promotes teamwork (not the entire team should have it). CoD is more of a FFA game, Halo is more of a team game, and teamwork is important, even with armor lock.

  • @Hydrosion61 It promotes non-team gameplay because you can survive just about any situation

  • Nice video, I can now see why some people get really upset by it, I don't seem to have to many problems with people not dying when they use armor lock.

  • People don't hate Armor Lock because it's not 'counterable', they hate it because it makes the game NOT FUN. It slows down gameplay and is a crutch for players who put themselves in a situation where they SHOULD have died.

  • All I see is a shit load of Q.Q over AL.

  • AL is not a get out of jail free card. If you die after waiting for someone to come out of AL, then you dies even with the advantage, and are truely bad at this game.

  • AL SUXKS

  • running riot!

  • Why is Armor Lock balanced? Simple! Because Bungie is removing it from Arena, and going by AL lovers' logic, they are Gods and are always correct.

  • You forgot to cover the 360 degree vision with instant turnaround upon leaving AL. This makes beat downs and assassinations impossible (especially when added to frosting melee).

So this means if they use the full AL in one use, you need a rocket to kill them upon coming out. At least we have a single weapon to work with..... one of the rarest weapons that you just come across. And all of this is without Lag.

  • One word: fuckarmorlock.

    ruined halo.

  • You got a Running Riot! Proof Armour Lockup is easily defeated!

  • 2:16 does he kick him in the head? thats cool.

  • And the whole point of this video is to what? Make me quit using it? Sorry but I like having the advantage over a kill if I can..I'll have fun Armor locking all you people in Halo and then teabag you because I got the kill and you didn't. It's kill or be killed!!!!!!!

  • Thanks to this video, i hope it makes rage-quitters quit less.

I honestly have no issues with armor-lock and i myself rarely use it .

  • Don't be an idiot. You shot them while they were still coming out of armor lock.

  • @WhtButterflyliz you forgot to add, that if you apply damage while someone is using armor lock their shield doesn't recharge or prep to recharge, in another words their damage remains the same.

also for everyone who reads this FUCK ARMOR LOCK!

  • Reach sucks. GG Bungie, -1 sale for you, I'm selling it to my friend.

  • sick map

  • AL is for the noobs

  • Weird.

When I use AL, my shield never come close to recharging.

  • @neerdy5 Yes, but it starts recharging; giving a need for at least 2 dmr shots to pop the shield again.

  • @neerdy5 Yes, but it starts recharging; giving a need for at least 2 dmr shots to pop the shield again.

  • More people need to learn how to time a plasma on a spamming locker. I mean, really guys.

  • So much mad in these comments I sense. I deal with it appropriately, and never have a problem. Learn to adapt, it really is a free kill for a team.

However, I can agree with removing it from Free-For-All. It often gets you and them killed by someone else.

  • Lulz, thanks for the great AL tips. >=)

  • When is the MLG playlist coming out so I can stop dealing with this shit. I'm not even good enough to compete in the MLG playlist but at least it's fair and it doesn't look like Bungie's fixing it.

  • @tittydonut123

Bungie is also taking out AL from Arena..soo yay!

  • @tittydonut123 Mid december. At least according to the latest bungie update.

  • @DanScoLew

You're just too pro, brah! This game is not uber leet enough for j00! That's right! Up with the Pro! Down with the Noob!

    /sarcasm

  • @DanScoLew im sorry but at what point does someone in armour lock gain an advantage? if you are better than them, you should kill them, it shouldnt matter how long the battle is drawn out...

  • @DanScoLew fucku

  • @siggibiggy Note the typical Armor Lock user: illeterate, easily angered, thinks names like "siggibiggy" are cool.

  • @yaladay :D and here we go again...just because u got many thumbs up and is like a celeb on THIS vid(the comment...u know what i mean) u can counte with everything u want and win..so i wont even try to figth this shit....but i just want to say that please dont talk shit about them when u couldnt do a better job

  • @DanScoLew end of dicussion? bullshat. Armorlock haters only hate because it presents them with a challenge they cannot beat unless its a 1 on 1, otherwise they will get rushed by another opponenet who *gasp* kills them.

Armor lock does have its flaws, your just too damn busy crying your balls off to realise they are there.. next time do research before you start complaining, or people like me will make you look like an idiot, time and time again.

  • @TheGodfasher

No, it slows down gameplay, and a player can do everything right and still geat beat by this trashy get out of jail free card. I'm good at this game. I know how to play. AL sucks and breaks it.

  • @TheGodfasher No I beat it every time. The annoying thing is when you bad kids use it the whole fucking game and win because of it. I lose against people when they user Armor Lock but when we play same settings and everything without armor lock I get a steaktacular on them. Armor Lock is BS, it's broken, and it should have never been in Halo.
