  • The melody of her voice actually sounds more german than the guy's. She just messes up the sentence grammatically, though.

  • Whatever language this guy speaks, it's not German trust me. I am German. Can't understand a word.

I think I get what he's trying to say but it's just German words fitted in an english syntax... with an english accent. .

    Like really NBC?

You couldn't manage to find ONE actor who actually speaks German XD

    The scene is funny anyway

  • her pronunciation is actually pretty good, only the sentences don't make much sense :P

  • @Trashcansam123 yeah. Think she just practiced everything she just said and when that german guy talked in a really fast, fluent german language, she can't understand anymore! Hilarious!

  • @ledhicks I think it's disturbing that in US television, Germans are so often played by people from the scandinavian area. We speak German in Austria, so I can tell you that this man is not a native speaker. In fact, I think that Tina is doing better than him accent-wise.

  • I'm guessing the joke here is she can't really understand native real German.

  • He says: Wir fliegen heute ab nach Deutschland zurück und müssen [talks so fast it's gibberish, even for native germans] Es gibt keine Zeit für Ambivalenz. Was ist ihr eigentliches Angebot?

  • He said something about and ambivalent English answers at the end of the sentence, didn't he? I need some German language lessons.

  • Wow, this is even worse than the German scene in 24. And that scene was quite horrible already. XD

  • lol, the subtitles when the man was speaking German were funny

  • I'm german, but I don't understand the meaning. I understand the most part of the words, but the last part is not understandable :) greetings from Germany:)

  • @DieSpinnerinxD

    my words exactly :)

  • Hubcap(?)

  • This is me with Japanese. xD

  • hahhaaaha her german is really good!! she sounds like she´s been practising for a while. The guy though has a very strong accent. He´s definetely NOT (native) german

  • Hey native german speakers, don't you just love that, when the german on american shows doesn't make any sense. This makes it even more funnier.

  • ikr lmfaoo

  • This is SPOT on.

  • To clarify, this is the German text: "Wir fliegen heute abend nach Deutschland zurück und müssen nicht hier Trauen verspielen. Es gibt keine Zeit für Ambivalenz. Was ist die eigentliche Angebot?"

  • @saeepaliwal I think you've got it dead on. Here's my English translation of that: "We're flying this evening back to Germany, and we must not gamble with trust (Vertrauen verspielen) here. There is no time for ambivalence. What is the actual offer?"

  • god i love how they didnt even make the effort to make it correct german, I bet they used google translate to come up with the German text. Epic.

  • Oh my god, those subtitles for what she understood were perfect. Exactly how I feel when I hear someone speaking a foreign language I've studied a while ago xD

  • HAHA DAS IST MICH

  • Hab kein Wort verstanden...

  • It's so true...

  • Woah, I didn't understand as uch as a word of what the german businessman said. O would have screwed up worse & I'm a native speaker. :D

  • There's a German word for ambivalence?

  • @maxerAA yeah, it's Ambivalenz ;)

  • Sie spricht nur krüppel Deutsch und er nur sehr undeutlich.

  • I'm German and even I don't understand everything that guy says. o_O

At least it's not over-portrayed as an aggressive language (like most; just look at Sarah Chalke)

  • what episode is this from?

  • @SuperFuturama Episode 210, the one where they all sing "Midnight Train to Georgia," which btw has to be one of my favorite 30 rock moments ever.

  • @Samuraiiamawry amen. sorry for waking you, gladys night.

  • @Samuraiiamawry mine too!!! I love that scene!

  • I don't speak German but I can if you like OW

  • She learned more than I did in two years of high school german.

  • I LOVE how she's wearing the same outfit from the pilot when she went to a business lunch with Tracey.

  • wow der "Deutsche" nuschelt so stark das ich fast nix verstehe ;-)

  • LOL....I t hink she understood more than I did.

  • man noch nihct mal der "DEUTSCHE" kann deutsch

  • well the episode in german they're saying that instead of NBC buying that german network they now want to buy NBC!

  • what are they really sayin?

  • @theoilysic We're flying back to Germany this evening and have to play "something (didn't quite get it xD)". There's no time for ambivalence, what's really the offer here?

Something like that xD I've only learnt German for 7 Months... so not very good yet :P

  • @stevtomato they say they're going to be late for something, although i'm not sure what, he speaks so damn fast! liz's german is good though, her accent is nice
