green ws definetely the best album, kick ass, i like the style of this one an you are the everything, although stand, get up, pop song 89 and orange crush are also kick as
I love the song. I remeber when I first heard the wrong child at a mall record shop. It moved me so much I broke into tears. Watching your slide show did that to me again. It invoked a memory inside a memory if that makes sense
Yes it does make sense, I'm glad it brought back a cool memory. Ah record shopping back then indeed awesome. did you buy the tape/cd, or maybe even record then?
"Green" was like the 3rd cd I ever bought. I had just gotten a cd player for my 15th birthday. Rattle and Hum/u2 and "viva hate"/ morrissey were the first and second. I remeber the night very well because it was the night George Bush sr. was elected president. I also remeber that i was in the exact same store 4 years later when Bill Clinton was elected President listening to "automatic for the people." (great songs provoke memory and details)
Not to question you, but I heard that the song was written as a response to a young boy who suffered third-degree burns in a house fire and because the family couldn't afford the surgery, he had to go for years with grafts on his face, and thus the isolation from the other kids.
I really love what you did with this song! I have cried to this song a few times. I always thought it was about a disabled child who couldn't go out and run around like the other kids. I have a cousin with severe cerebral palsy and when I heard this song the first time (wow... almost 20 years ago) I thought of him.
Thank you, and thanks for sharing about your cousin. I thought of the song being about disabled kids too. It's interesting the many interpretations this song can have.
Maybe it's a little of it all. the outcry for any child that feels awkward when faced with going outside or playing
I love to see these positive remarks, especially on one of my virtual all time favorites. This is the best it gets. So totally depressing yet beautiful and magical. These are by far Michael Stipes best lyrics. I totally agree with quartzy about best slideshow, most slideshow/anime/homemade videos blow. This one is definetly worthy!

The most beautiful song R.E.M have ever done as far as I am concerned, therefore one of the most beautiful songs ever written.
Me in honey is also a big favourite of mine.

Me in honey, is great, They do write gorgeous songs, I love especially the slow songs on Automatic for the People, such as Nightswimming

Thanks gunther, this song has always been very special to me. it's so passionate and Stipe sings it like he's lived it, it's wonderfully raw
