i agree with timetogo888, "idiot". This billy guy has no fucking idea what he is talking about. He must have got his qualifications out of a corn flake box. Notice that all the names he mentions are "former" students.
pretty much has to change to allow for a prolonged flying wedge.one thing the swing is trying to accomplish, is stay closer to the impact position,it's a great concept. When you see the motion a RSSer makes they still move the center of the shoulders off the ball. When they swing their arms back into impact their spine tilts more to the right, from the force and momentum of the arm swing. It's physics. tilt spine left and then rotate. the only way to stay closer to what you want at impact.
Just thought i would add that the aim is to have the body FEEL like it its at address when at impact BUT in reality the right hip has slightly turned the left hip out of the way.
Thanks Fred, ya it's all alittle different when it comes down to impact. I like the stuff Gary talks about, I hope you understand that I'm in America. No one really knows much about this style as a Right Side Swing. We have Homer Kelley's Book called The Golfing Machine. He came up with all the stuff Gary Edwin talks about back in 1939. It's better to be talked about than not talked about, Gary is actually getting some recognition. I'm going off more GM stuff
One last thing and I'll leave you in peace. What really turns the left hip out of the way is some plantar flexion, a bi-laterial extention of thelegs and an exterior turn of the left hip flexiors and an interiorturn of the right hip. You see it can be explained so differently, yet mean the same thing. How can we put a name tag on it? Did Hogan put a name on what he figured out? It's a streatch to cliam Hogan's style as a RSS, 50 years after he played
Very Interesting. Pretty much what I have ended up with after reworking my swing for the last few years. Still tend to slide the hips around too much, but we all have tendancies.
Billy, its alright to admire someones golf swing or coaching style BUT your video looks like you are trying to cash in on a subject you clearly dont know not enough about. Appelby is definitely not a right sided swinger and Gary's players do not have a one plane swing. You should really pull this video off youtube coz its pretty embarassing for you...
Thanks for what you said. The info that Gary says he came up with is all written about in "The Golfing Machine" by Homer Kelley and this revse K Tilt was The old John Jacobs way of teaching back in the early 50's. I can appreciate that you want to stick up for one of your country men. It's just that you don't really know the facts. This is other people material. Beauty of freedom of speach. I'm just doing what Gary did. I also do appreciate your comments.
I have watched alot of Gary Edwins videos. I notice impact to the golf ball is always cut out. You never see swings on U-Tubes in slow motion. Mr.Edwin wants the student in thesame position at address as impact, but it is different at impact. The body turns for impact, if it doesn't the left arm and wrist will collapse creating in most cases snap hooks. In my videos I am tring to show how simular these one plane swings are. Edwin, Hardy, Mac O'Grady and Plumer and Bennett
dear billy you took your right shoulder under your chin thats why you hit it straight -if you followed your own advise with the driver you would be hooking it over the fence every shot-no wonder recreational golfers have the same handicap as they did 20 years ago with teachers like you making a good living keeping golfers coming back for more lessons and not getting any better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These are some of my past students. Loranea Ochoa, Natalie Gulbis, Ricky Barns, Scott McCarren, Glen Day. The comment you made really shows a lack of knowledge with the golf swing. Take a look at Tiger Woods down the Line or Rod Pamphling.
Just so you know, Gary does not coach Stuart Appleby. That would be Steve Bann. He does coach Pampling. Watch some of my videos on the RSS. I think a few of your ideas and impressions on what we do are not quite right.
