  • May 25th at the Manchester Apollo, can't fucking wait!!

  • i envy those who lived that age in that place, london

  • One of the best punk rock songs ever. No flaws, just a perfect harmony

  • Thee most killer song I've ever heard!!!!

  • can Oasis write songs like this?

  • lived in a small town when into town to buy never mind the bollocks, instead they had BuzZcocks Another music in a different kitchen, god it barely left the turn-table

  • Hate totp

  • howard devoto and co would piss on the stranglers

  • good song

  • They sound like The Stranglers who came before. If you like this song, which is great, you should check out "Get a Grip on Yourself".

  • 15 people are deaf!

  • what's with the boring ass crowd not dancing or anything???

  • God, who set up that mic.

  • Fantastic

  • Was that Daevid Allen introducing the Buzzcocks!?!??!

  • @sakalak bears a resemblance, doesn't he? Actually, it's Jimmy Savile, sometimes TOTP host and long-time TV personality in Britain. He just passed away about 6 weeks ago, RIP Jimmy. Search his show "Jim'll fix it" for a few hours of laughs!

  • ah, the good old days!

  • so the whole 'quiet loud quiet' was invented by The Pixies was it ? Props to Pete & Steve & the other 2 'cocks for still going out there and blowing everyone else away..quietly loudly, brilliantly...

  • Bloody hell they sound so much like The Who is this. Pete Shelley is definitely doing a Pete Towsend impression here!

  • @ParagramTree That's not Pete Shelley singing. It's Steve Diggle.

  • oo godd no

  • whenever I'm in doubt about the things I do ..

  • Comment removed

  • soooo fucking cool

  • love this song, but the only harmony is in his head! paradox

  • So, this is still Epic even though they are playing over a track.

  • The Audience.

  • wow

  • Brilliant!!!!!

  • chad bartie.

  • Does anyone know the name of the guitar that Pete is playing?

  • @Donutsmasher1 It's a Gibson Les Paul gold top.

  • @Donutsmasher1 and Pete Shelley has a Gibson Marauder. Steve Diggle also played a Fender Telecaster Custom and a Gibson Les Paul Junior as well as the Les Paul Gold Top. Steve Garvey always played a Fender Precision Bass. H/H Amplification was very popular with the band back then

  • I like how the cords aren't plugged in lol but good song they're so great live

  • the chorus sounds like mick jones vocals- clash feel)- this is a classic and one of my favorite buzzcocks tunes

  • The audience dont seem to give a fuck.

  • These guys were the existentialists of punk rock!

  • Most of the punk groups of that time could hardly play their instruments, but not the Buzzcocks. They had some real chops. The drummer is so solid.

  • @jab3785

One of the best drummers in the business.

  • dressed a bit Townshend there,, fucking great track awesome drumming,, tight as hell,,

  • They always wrote great lyrics, an awesome band

  • Buzzcocks Rule! Thanks for this.

  • - Saw 'em at Llangollen Fringe this Summer-50 year old punks in the mosh pit with their 20year old sons great stuff !

  • god damn i could listen to this track over and over

  • i'm forced to click the "LIKE" tab because unfortunately there's no "LOVE THIS!!!" tab. this guy is awesome on vocals! Pete Shelley is great too though.

  • hahahahah about Joel! Good one!

  • osteen wishes!

  • you can not beat this class track

if you have seen them then you will know what i mean

  • @jago544643 When did you see them? They were fantastic - true PUNK

  • Jimmy Saville introducing the Buzzcocks.

  • how is it possible that 14 people have no harmony in their heads?

  • @johnbowen1973

14 Assholes. I'll never forget my second year of high school when Singles Going Steady broke out. Then I seen them in Cleveland in law school in like '92 as well..... NICE.

  • DON'T CUT IT OFF! DAMN ANNOUNCER! YOU HAVE TO LET IT BLEED OUT!

  • it wasn't their choice to mime, but the buzzcocks were happy to get as much tv coverage for their music to spread their sound to the masses - ffs, the music back then at the top of the charts was quite shocking! good on them trying to put good music back out there. im in the middle of getting diggle's book 'harmony in my head' onto itunes for the writer, terry rawlings, and if u read it, u might learn a thing or two!

  • Just saw them in Long Beach and they sound better than ever...AMAZING BAND!!!

  • the crowd is just in still shock !

  • Granie jakie Kocham!

  • i fucking love this song

  • one song i would go mental to back in the day if i did it now i would be in hospital brrrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiilllllllllllllllll

  • I can never figure out if bands played Live on Top of The Pops?? They never have leads in their guitars and it never makes any difference how close or far away they are from the mic?? did bands really play live or was it all just prerecorded?

  • @Meavis93 they didn't play live.

  • @Meavis93 the ones that could play live mostly did till sometime in the 80s when they stopped all of the bands from playing live

  • @Meavis93 TOTP was mainly mimed, the very small audience used to get shoved to each of the stages and told to clap. TOTP was shite but that's all the UK had until Revolver came on air and later The Tube. The bands had no time to play live although some later did and usually it was just live vocals, depended on how high up the artist was. Robert Smith of the Cure used to loosen his guitar strings to make an obvious comment about TOTP policy as they always wanted to play live.

  • love the intro guy ahaha

  • @freudastaire That's Sir Jimmy Saville mate... British Legend... Bit of an oddball but a legend nonetheless!!!

  • @noeski100 thanks for the info, didn't knew him by his face just by name. goodness gracious!!!

  • @freudastaire Google him... big charity man... Wouldn't let him babysit for me though if you know what I mean!!!

  • i prefer this guy singing more than the main singer shelley- love the buzzcocks but the voice was always a bit off putting - its a great song regardless!

  • Yo its funny cuz ive never felt this song like i do now and the Buzzcocks will always be a band that stayed true and hype is hype but a good song does live forever...even if i9m playin on me acoustic

  • I'd never stand for that. What? Being called something like "the Buzzcocks". What are you on about? I don't know. I don't mind the Buzz, but calling themselves Cocks. I don't get it. They're not calling themselves the Cocks, are they? They're calling themselves the Buzzcocks. Still got the word "cock" in it, though. Just saying I wouldn't stand for it, that's all.
  • @KazakageoftheSand Someone's been watching Control.

  • @battyramone haha it's what introduced me to the buzzcocks!

  • Comment removed

  • The first chord sounded like the beginning of Ever Been In Love...

    great song!

  • @chchchcherrybomb37 yeah i noticed that! also check out white denim - let's react to it - it really reminds me of this song...

  • magic n mental n nnnnnnnnnnnn....fuck it lets get pished......

  • Been there seen it.....classic

  • why isn't anyone in the crowd dancing? I'd be all up in that biz.

  • Its pretty punk rock to lip sync and play instruments that aren't plugged in! Well, not really.

  • My favorite band will always be the Ramones, but I think the Buzzcocks are just so fucking brilliant, so brilliant, and this song is one of the greatest songs ever written.

  • @pbot2029 buzzcocks > ramones

  • @KazakageoftheSand Ha ha, its all personal preference at the end of the day, but for me, the Ramones will always be the best band of all time BUT I adore the Buzzcocks.

  • Diggle is sexy

  • @0mgwtfbbq21 Not the guy singing. He's the one in center back

    .

  • that is not pete shelley, or is it?

  • Anyone who argues about what is and what is not punk, doesn't actually know what punk is.

    But thanks for playing.

  • I had never realised that Eric Idol was a punk rock singer before.

  • playback!!!!

  • The singer is howard devoto or pete?

  • @interpol8694 neither it's Steve Diggle :-)

  • @interpol8694 neither it's Steve Diggle :-)

  • @interpol8694 Howard Devoto has left the Buzzcocks at this moment in time and was with Magazine (my favourite band), Pete Shelley did most of the vocals after Devoto left the Buzzcocks and Steve Diggle did a few turns here and there, but Steve was mainly backing vocals

  • Chad Bartie, fuck yeah

  • Favorite Buzzcocks song, Diggle's voice is awesome!!!

  • buzzcocks were brilliant - check out diggle's book if you can get hold of a copy - it's a bloody good read!

  • Fucking rules..fuck all you fucking fuckers and your girly laptop comments...too bad you WEREN'T BORN YESTERDAY!!

  • Diggle sound like The Pub Singer but it works strangely well. And talking of strange, Jimmy Saville ha ha. Mad Genius.

  • does he is pete shelley? who Sings there

  • @94ivancho usually the front man,the main singer its pete shelly, but that song its singing by the usual guitar steve diggle. Pete shelly its just behind steve with blue jacket and white shirt.

  • doesn,t seem steve diggle a little bit to richard gere actor when he was young? ;-)

  • @bilicana First knight was on this morning and after that I came here and was like wtf, it's lancelot.

  • @bilicana wrong.

    gere looks like steve ;)

  • Dick in my head!!

  • I didnt know joel osteen was in a punk band before he was a preacher

  • @wheelworker1 i dont know why but that made me laugh really, really hard!

  • @wheelworker1 He aint no preacher son. The poor guy couldn't even tell Larry King how to get to heaven on national television.....that's sad

  • LOVE it!

    Cheers me up immensly!

  • aye so that was good for 2 seconds till Jim will Fix it went off, kinda downhill after that!

  • One of my fave Buzzcocks tracks. I like how Steve Diggle grimaces whenever he sings!

  • BRILLIANT!!

  • Like this song - check out a new version on youtube via The Brewing Calm. Completely different.

  • this video looks like the undertones teenagekicks

  • lip... synching... why?

    fuck!

  • @cumshotfeminist

An unfortunate hazard of Top of the Pops. Another great example is The Monks playing Nice Legs, Shame about Her Face. (Also on Youtube).

Clive Pearce is playing a fucking equipment cabinet.

  • @cumshotfeminist TOTP would not let bands play live, rarely did it happen so it was not the band's fault. As TOTP was the only mainstream TV show punk bands had back then so they were held by the balls. A lot of punks bands refused to go on TOTP but those that did had to mime. The Old Grey Whistle Test mainly focussed on prog rock bands but later succumed to the influence of the punk movement but not as much as had been liked at the time

  • wish i could get this on the tube nowaday.

turn the thing on and all i get is crap, best to keep it off.

  • What happened to music now in days

  • @FuckYouzGuys it simply got gay over time

  • fooking GREAT fooking song!!!

  • boys

  • the dude on the right at the beginning makes me crack up... goofiest smile ever.

  • When music mattered.

  • I like the aggressive looking singing on this. Definitely a fave Buzzcocks!

  • What's wrong with the people of the public? is like they are not meant to be there...I would be jumping!!

  • SIR JIM!!!

  • Jimmy Saville. :)

  • worse song i think my ears r bleeding

  • @scullbashnash talk shit

  • @scullbashnash So will be your nose if we see you

  • @jverlander35 Lol call me neird too ... I was thinking about Anti Flag but if you say so ... Get your rage against one other please ...

  • freedom

  • Brit pop

  • Great band, great song, great clip !

  • Banda grande musicalmente si las hay!!! Aguente Buzzcocks!

  • I love the Buzzcocks and this song is cool but for some reason, this TV version sounds like he's saying "There's a Homo-ooohhh in my Headddd). js don't PM me any PC bullshit. I'm sick of you tards being all serious about what's Politically correct or not. I'm not running for office so fuck of ;)

  • @coptersoisoi it really doesn't.

  • diggle is excellent here, and this is certainly one of their best tracks.

  • 70's FTW!!!! Only wish i was born then =[

  • Stevie Diggle would have made a better full-time vocalist imo.Cracking Song..

  • The Buzzcocks got greater, and darker, as the top 20 simpletons wore out.

A band is greater than the sum of their numbers.

    Espesh this lot.

    Harmonies and the lot.

  • Pondo got taken away by the cops to this tune.

  • joy division is better

  • @fakiefool

no, joy division is different. But both bands are great

  • in my HEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Greatest Buzzcocks song..and no howard or pete

  • @MsBabster

Pete Shelley is on Guitar behind Steve Diggle for most of the clip... Also, have a look at Google for Harmony_in_My_Head

  • saw them a few months ago in Wellington New Zealand Diggle is a ledgend!

  • honestly, i dont care what this genre is, punk or whatnot, it sounds good so, it is good. ok, so yeah, dont argue because it doesnt matter

  • punk forever !

  • I notice Steve kept on his toes with Pete Shelley behind him...

  • steve diggle is a top artist !! but lets not forget howard devoto !!

  • fuckin brilliant song

  • this was the buzzcocks moving on. That Steve bloke is a bit of a genius too. Saw the Buzzcocks live in 2006, and he still has the attitude of a teenager. Good on you Steve!

  • Anyone else not give a shit what genre of punk it is, it's a funking great song so enjoy it and stop quarreling.

  • Manchester's best

  • @Froggtherigger one of manchester's best, but there's too many good manc bands.

  • my understanding was the Ramones were huge fans of Bay City Rollers and wanted to be like them, didn't turn out that way. Lucky for us.

  • I love cocks.

  • @Darkside626 you dick

  • the audience look shell shocked and the applauds at the end come from motionless onlookers?

"The tortured faces expression out aloud

And life's little ironies seem so obvious now"

  • Power,Passion,Feel,&Agression thats wot it takes......who"s with me!!

  • @LeavingOnAJetPlanex I'm not even entirely sure why I placed that first comment I think I was drunk or high or somthing along thoughs lines

  • too bad its over dubbed. would have been cool.

  • one of my faves. why did they cut off the song early? :(

  • I agree with billie joe... they suck

  • @GreenDayfreak717 shut the fuck up

  • I HATE THESE MOTHER FUCKERS

  • @GreenDayfreak717 I hate Green Day so, I don't listen to their music because they "suck"

So please explain why you are here commenting?

  • @GreenDayfreak717 why? because you like fake poser crap punk?

  • @GreenDayfreak717 get the fuck outa here then and go listen to that wanna be punk shit you call greenday.

  • Wow that crowd sucks so much. The Buzzcocks are basically creating musical magic infront of these people's very eyes and they're completely silent and motionless. Silly Top of the Pops crowds.
