Los deep purple no estan nada mal,yo he tenido discos de vinilo de ellos,y cintas de cassette grabadas como por ej el perfect strangers y el de la orquesta sinfonica de londres ect.....
@mc9crusader he is the current guitarist that's why gillian's not singing it either, but he's in it. get over it. he is doing a slideshow of Deep Purple, not just Mark III/IV
I usually don't like Joe Lynn Turner's voice, I've always thought that he had a "fm" voice typic to the 80's ballads, but I should admit that he's sounding pretty good on fire in the basement!
@nazzare79 Is it just me or does the opening kind of sound like Nazareth's "Glad When You're Gone"? I am just wondering I am not saying it is I just want to know your opinion.
@hermygagala the groove is similar but the riff, the melodies and the chords are totally different...anyway I love a lot "Glad When You're Gone" too...
@nazzare79 Is it just me or does SOME of this song sound like Nazareth's "Glad When You're Gone"? I am just wondering. I am not saying it is. I just want to know your opinion. Well not the opening but from about 30 seconds to 45 seconds in.
Great slide show...too bad the singer wasn't Gillan. JLT is a total hack, wanna-be Gillan-style singer. You should try and make some videos that match with the lineup.. I enjoy them nonetheless...
This song and 'Fortuneteller' are apparently songs recorded in 1988/early 1989 w. Gillan, but reworked w. Turner. Doesn't matter, I love all Purple. This song was amazing Live.
@zenlikestate Definatly other lyrics. Turner tries to "copy" a lot of Gillan's type of humour and songwriting style on 'Slaves & Masters'. 'Fire In The Basement' is about getting sexual diseases. They allready wrote about almost the same in '87 in 'The Unwritten Law'. Lord confirmed that they were recording a new album in late 1988, and in '89 Gillan got the boot. The song never went under the name 'Fire In The basement' w. Gillan, but the riff, an main song was there but with different lyrics.
@zenlikestate I got to talk to Glover after a gig last year and I asked him about this, he confirmed that 'Fortuneteller' developed during the 1988 tour during soundchecks, they had the title and everything in late '88 w. Gillan lyrics etc. I aksed him if the songs for a proposed 3rd MK.II(b) album w. Gillan that were recorded in the late 80's, would see the light of day, but he doubted it. He said Ritchie sat on most of the tapes, and apparenlty neither him or Gillan wants it released.
5 stars. This is a really great video. This song, seems to get over-looked, far too often. Very nice song choice, and great pictures, also. Thank You Very Much, for helping to keep rock music, alive and well.

@nazzare79 I agree that is exactly what I was thinking I didn't find that the chords sounded similar, more the groove as you said.

Possible to find the tapes w gillan? ;)
Seimh 1 year ago
@SilverTounge85 Not sure how that could be. Both songs have Turner writing credits. Unless Gillan has alternate lyrics for the music.
