If it has the ability to transcribe a new pathway or block a pathway to a neurotransmitter of inhibit or uptake, then yes it has the capacity to be bad. Ability to affect our sensory modalities would not be a good thing.

Well.. Then how can you know that these emoticons and cartoons are sending out subliminal messages? Just because a bunch of 'brain scientists' tell you? Unless you are the one adding in subliminal messages, technically no one else should know. After all, your definition of subliminal is below the threshold of conscious perception - technically you shouldn't be able to perceive them, and neither should the scientists (unless they're the ones who added them in). See my point?

Technology advancements in major fields like the subliminal science of what makes our brains tick of the mechanisms involved. So really, as long as humans go outside the house to interact with other real people I don't see any problem.
And our genes can not be changed by watching tv or surfing the net. Maybe one day there will be someone with 6 fingers on each hand being faster typing and thus being the fittest among us, so that in 500 years all humans have 6 fingers. So what? Evolution, baby ;-)

If you take a baby and you show it that while saying YES you shake your head and while saying NO you nod (common in some culture I don't recall), the Babaies brain will learn excaclty this!
So as long as cartoon faces show expression you find in real life there's no harm done.
In the end, ppl that just live their life in front of the computer will act a bit strange in the real world. It's not the Internet it's just the isolation taht causes the disorder of these ppl.

And yes of course new technologies can alter how the brain works. If before you had to go hunting for food (brain action 1), you now just go around the corner to buy a pizza at some 24/7 (brain action 2).
Brain action 1 is not needed anymore, thus rewiring happens.

Subliminal is an adjective and it refers to a communication that is not intended to be understood consciously, but to influence thoughts, feelings, and/or behavior at the subconscious level.
Subconscious can be a noun or an adjective and it refers to processes that take place in the human psyche of which we are not totally aware.
There is no communication from technology to human! While they are interrelated, subliminal is the wrong word to use. And why did you discard of my other post?

expression data forms. Ever been to an Indian Casino? Check out the graphics of the slot machines and
