on the skype page you get the option of 32 or 64 bit,so if you have a 32 bit machine,you want the 32 bit version

you have to have admin right's,so not your normal password,but the root or admin password..

For those of you getting the 'wrong architecture' error this is because you are attempting to install a 32-bit application on the 64-bit version on Ubuntu. I'm not sure if there's a 64-bit version of Skype but if not you can install the 32-bit one by first installing the package 'ia32-libs' by searching for it in package manager. When it's installed you should be able to install 32-bit applications. :)

Having a problem here. I downloaded Skype for Ubuntu (I have 8.10) and I clicked on the file, but is says that the dependency is not satisfiable.

What should I do? Any solutions?

You should make sure you have an internet connection, then sys> admin> synaptic package. Reload then i should hopfully update.Find the file on mozilla, usually crl>j then it should install ok. Hope i helped. :)
