The person below is almost right. But the song is about 4 people 2 men and 2 women they are planning to rob a bank. But when they go to leave to get away after they rob the bank the cops are outside and catch them. They die in this order Bugsy, Mary and Buster. Michael gets away.
it's talking about 3 men michael marry and bugsy who are creating a plan against the cops. i'm guessing the cops either captured or killed them in the following order: bugsy, marry, but then michael drove off and then he "was hit, until he was it" .. the soup part is just artistic. it can be seen as however you want. for me i think about it on the stove and forgotten about, but it also explains hot (which the men were in a hot mess) and then i think about the soup exploding (the men dying). etc
