The reason its very low is because Switzerland is a biased example. It does not consist of the average population, with working class, middle and upper class. The population in the country is not representative nor compearable to any other nation, thus it must be left out when statistics are looked out. Any state scientist knows that. Look at other nations instead, and the picture is compleatly different.

this is completely misleading. there is a difference between an overall crime rate and the deaths by gun rate. crime rate encompasses all aspects of crime not just the crimes committed by guns. in terms of developed countries, cause you cant realistically compare crime rates in the developed world and the non developed world, the US still ranks very highly and gun deaths is a major cause.

@arsenalongao what do all school shootings have in common? They are gun free zones and all the shooters were on mood enhancing drugs such as prozak and zoloft. Synthetic pharmacy LEGAL drugs kill more people then cars or guns combined. Why don't we get rid of them? Cars kill 4 times more people then guns but you can't get rid of them can you? @ArkDiscoverydotCOM are you seriously suggesting that the cure for school shootings is to allow students to have guns? once again, you have to look at things in context. people who commit school shootings usually have a dark history and struggle to conform with society. their mental and emotional distress is far more the cause than the drugs that are proscribed to them to cure it. furthermore in most cases those drugs work, but some people just cant be helped by medication.

@ArkDiscoverydotCOM furthermore cars, usually, are not used as weapons. accidents happen, irresponsibility happens, but its grossly morbid to compare gun deaths to car deaths. the heart of this issue is whether or not as a society we value peace. if we do not, as has been proven, we will continue to allow the existence of destroyers of peace to thrive. in a perfect world guns wouldnt be banned, in a perfect world we wouldnt need guns. but because we cant be perfect, everything but would suffice

Actually gun control does help depending on if the country is isolated and shares no borders.

When Australia introduced tough gun laws, the murder rate in Australia dropped by half and gun related deaths dropped 10 times.

yes and there are swords and knife deaths also. Actually more people die from stabbings then they do guns. Is a sword or knife a tool? Is a bow and arrow? Is a stick and stone? Yes in a perfect world we would not need weapons to defend our families. But as you can see it is not a perfect world. Far from it.
