people often forget that Rotties were first bred as working cattle dogs and were also working dogs pulling milk carts for farmers who could not afford horses. They are naturally genial and very smart but a bad owner who only teaches them or supports their natural tendency to protect causes many of the issues we see these days.
I remember when i got my dog i got in my mom car from school and im like mom whos dog is this!? O.o Shes like our im like :O! OMG :D but it was weird my dog was all chill and stuff xD like she was a little smaller than the arm rest the the middel front of the laying on it lol
Awww! So precious! Makes me miss my doggie...may she rest in peace. She had a good life though, was very well loved.
I love rotties! They can be such good dogs! A neighbor of mine has one. HUGE boy, but an absolute teddy bear. Always in the mood for a good belly rub lol
I love how nice and gentle the mom was bein to the dog, she knows how he feels and doesn't want the girl to jump right at him like most parents let their kids do to new puppies
@happpyhalo I was at the MSPCA looking to adopt. I found a wonderful dog that was very shy. Based on what I have learned about approaching dogs, I ended up becoming very attached to it. However it was too old for what I was looking for. Before I put it back, a little girl ran over to it and put its hand in the dogs face. The dog ended up biting the girl. I really hope they didn't put the dog down :( People need to learn how to approach animals without scaring them
An at home introduction might have been better, but Rotti's are absolutely wonderful animals and are exceptional with children. With any dog of substance, the way they are raised is critical. This video is very sweet! Thank you for sharing.
My husband and I have a 13 month old female and have each owned several in the past...Wonderful animals!
Nice video, but please teach your kid not to run up to dogs and petting them.......she could get seriously injured by the dog. Not all dogs are friendly and let other strangers pet them instantly.
U ppl who say rotts r evil need 2 fuck off! ive been raised around rotts and german shepherds 4 a long time and there is NOTHING evil about them! its all about how u raise them! if u raise em 2 fite then yea they r gonna b mean but otherwise they make gr8 family pets!
ACTUALLY , the dog w/ highest attack percent is a pitbull . Which if you raise correctly , are magnificent dog . Its good that this kid is being raised with a baby rott, while she is young . They will grow very well w/ eachother since theyre both young (:
You obviously don't know the breed. You hear about it on the news because that's the big thing. When's the last time you've heard of a Golden Retriever attacking someone at a park or somesuch? If I remember correctly, those dogs have the highest attack percent.
I wouldn't let my kid jump into a car, or any small space with no way to get out with a dog. Rottweiler or not. I've had lapdogs who might bite just out of panic. It's just not smart: it is still an animal and kids are kids.
@FrauleinNess It's a puppy, calm down. The girl could get out, and she did not rush the dog or get in his space. He acted more curious than panicked and appeared to like her towards the end.
aww!!! I remember when got my first puppy! Although, my puppy pretty much attacked me with dog kisses when i met him XD He's a big muscly teddy bear bear now, but he still acts like a little puppy. like he still tries to sit in my lap for a nap, but he crushes me! XD
I got my female rottweiler when I was about 8 years old. She's since passed but I can say that she was hands down, the sweetest and most gentle dog I've ever known. A gentle giant, if you will. A rottweiler is the greatest gift for a little girl but socialization and positive reinforcement are key. Rottweilers require dedicated and responsible pet owners. Mine was my very best friend and I'll always cherish the time we had together.
m interested to hear about other rottie owners experiences on this:
I have a rottie pup (around 1 1/2 years). Both her parents are guard dogs. When she is around people normally, or outside of the house, she is as placid as anything, Yet, when we go upstairs and she is downstairs on her own, she switches to guard dog mode, waiting by the dog flap and growling and or barking at anything that looks or smells odd... anyone else found this or is my dog just odd? :)
aww, I remembered when I got my first Rottie...I wanted the chihuahua that was in the front window where Max was lol....funny thing is, when I rescued my second Rottie, Naomi, about 6 years ago she was in the rescue center with a chihuahua, so I figured it was a good sign that she was made for me and Max sent her my way :)
@angelbabiex2 nice play on the a wrong stereotype. I rescue and foster Rotties. I have witnessed the results of evil done to some of these dogs and they are still as loving as ever. If you make the animal mean, it will be mean. All of my dogs are over grown pushover lap dogs to anyone who knows them. To those who I don't want around, they are beg effing Rottweilers.
THEY ARE TOO FUCKING CUTE WHEN THEY'RE BIG! WTF ARE YOU ON? They're giant, cuddly dogs who, if brought up right (Not neglected in obedience training, or attention) grow to be a very loving animal.
When i was about 9 we went to go get our puppy, Yorkie Jackrussel mix. Mom couldn't pick one, she wanted a black silky one but this adorable little scruffmutt decided it wanted to go to its new home "now"
So we was picked by the dog, not the other way round. He's now 7 and a half years old, and still a little scruffmutt... just much fatter :V
@forknuts I hear what your saying but you can never fully trust a rottweiler or many other dogs- no matter how well you raise them, sometimes they just snap for literally no reason at all. A good friend of mine had a german shepherd for about 7 years, since it was a pup. One day it randomly bit a little girls face. They had to put the dog down. I love rotti's and german shepherds but i dont think id ever have one.
@fallingwatersnz You should always watch any dog around kids. They are animals after all. Im 32 and in our family with lots if kids we have never had a problem. We have had lots of big dogs.
