Even though a lot of people say that this game wasn't that good, I in fact like this game over SimCity 4. I like how, in this game, you have a more realistic look on a city. Everything in your city comes to life and it really makes it seem real and that's what I was looking for. Sure, it's not as fun as SimCity 4, some people might say, but I indeed like this game. ;)
All of you who want Will Wright back, trust me: you don't. Will Wright has gone to the dark side. Sim City Societies was a great concept and had good graphics, but execution was very poor and made it was a very boring game. I'd try to like it, but after 5 minutes I'd want to play something else.
Pros: Good concept, good graphics.
Cons: Poor game mechanics, poor music/not a lot of music (in this walk-through they use a Good song from Sim city 4), laggy even on high-end machines, extremely ugly UI, small selection choice of buildings, etc.
Where the zoning? no taxes? no rail roads? no monorail? no hi-ways? no airport? no neighbor city? no mountains? no tunnels? no bridges? why my building dosen't grow any bigger? where's the simulation of the game?

I think sim city societies is an communistic economic simulation because you plant very building yourself and you do not have to consider a demand as in sim city 4.

Put that all in another expansion, and there you go.

The heart of the game isn't the same. They just proved it in this walkthrough. I played it and its gets boring. Like everyone else, Sim City 4 or 3000.
And you can build towns. All zones are split by density. Low, medium, and high. The higher you can go the more of a chance your gonna make something like New York.
EA, why do you have to take creditable, Fun and brilliant franchises and ruin them! This is bloody annoying and now i know not to buy any EA game release. I WAS looking forward to C&C3, but you will probably ruin that. For gods sake EA, get your act together

Not enough freeway options (come on, either freeway or dirt road?) Not enough "Zoom Out" ability, and too many square buildings.
I was also hoping for some online work, be it placing my society in a "City" I share with my fellow Sim players, or play with a partner who builds as well.
Its not too bad but it doesn't feel as Epic as any of the predecessors. Its good for a quick Sim romp.
I think most people complaining do not have the system to run this. Looks like you need allot of ram and a good processor. This hatred is from EA games buying the rights to the Sims games.

its an OK game, thats it..... i was very disappointed at the view options.. i mean, if you are copying CityLife, at least make the viewing options better. For example, in Simcity Societies you cant have a wider view of the city, nor a view from the point of view of a Sim... Just put the "sim" view option by clicking the wheel!!! the only thing that the game does by clicking the wheel is to pan the viewing area, which is repeating the same thing as moving the pointer to the edge of the screen

Hm I bought this today, it's interesting, not only do the dynamic shadows facinate me (damn my curiosity) :P this game is great, I have sc4 and scsocieties both are wonderful games.

Sim city societies is dumbed-down crap. EA is terrible. Tilted Mill made a crappy game. Sim city 4 was awesome.

It looks like they tried to make a "Simcity" for a "The Sims" fan. Totally sucks. I'll just have to continue playing Simcity 4 until Simcity 5 comes out.. .. ..

to a certain extent, she is right, its still open ended, but the focus has moved from creating a city and managing it, to more of managing the people instead. I reckon in the future, one sim city will draw all these ideas of the last game together in a complete form.

Aside form the kiddy comments here, I didnt like this game terribly.
Not enough freeway options (come on, either freeway or dirt road?) Not enough "Zoom Out" ability, and too many square buildings.
I was also hoping for some online work, be it placing my society in a "City" I share with my fellow Sim players, or play with a partner who builds as well.
Its not too bad but it doesn't feel as Epic as any of the predecessors. Its good for a quick Sim romp.

I think most people complaining do not have the system to run this. Looks like you need allot of ram and a good processor. This hatred is from EA games buying the rights to the Sims games.

I have not played this, so I can't judge on those grounds but all the ideas mentioned in this video seem like random and arbitrary bullshit. You can only have one of a certain building in your city?! its an OK game, thats it..... i was very disappointed at the view options.. i mean, if you are copying CityLife, at least make the viewing options better. For example, in Simcity Societies you cant have a wider view of the city, nor a view from the point of view of a Sim... Just put the "sim" view option by clicking the wheel!!! the only thing that the game does by clicking the wheel is to pan the viewing area, which is repeating the same thing as moving the pointer to the edge of the screen
