Does your storm need to be active with a verizon account in order to do this process? because i once was a verizon customer but switched to tmobile and now i have a blackberry storm that i want to unlock but im not sure if it will work since I dont have service on it.

@windowsvista113 Yes you can use it with most GSM Networks worldwide using their SIM cards. You always have to make sure that the phone is compatible with the frequencies the provider uses but 99.9% of the providers worldwide will work. No 3G on GSM in North America, only overseas and Asia.

You need to go to Options/Mobile Network and change Technology to GSM/UMTS and then select 2G. You also need to do a battery pull after the unlocking.

That sounds like a problem with the phone. Unlocking does not affect the phone. Try updating the OS

NO, this will not allow the Storm to be used on another CDMA network, the only thing this does is lets the Storm be used with ANY SIM Card on any GSM Network, the CDMA modem ESN would have to be inserted into your CDMA provider's network, and MOST CDMA providers will NOT allow outside ESNs, even if your provider will put in your ESN, most of the data and MMS/SMS functions won't work right due to the way different CDMA providers provide these services.
