Maybe businesses and special interests shouldn't be allowed to make large donations and that donations should be completely transparent. I'm not sure if some of those rules are already in place or not.

Americans want it both ways: they want their social programs and they want their tax cuts. Conservatives are good at criticizing communists for being impractical, but I think they are too if they cut SS and medicare.

@syzygy502 I have mixed feelings about campaign finance reform. I don't think tax payers money should fund people to get elected yet I don't think politicians should be bought out. Maybe businesses and special interests shouldn't be allowed to make large donations and that donations should be completely transparent. I'm not sure if some of those rules are already in place or not.

@skylermiller29 More wars? It's called defense, fool. The only war we've every "started" was the one we finished in Iraq. Saddam started it in '91, and bush 41 should have taken him out then. Trillions for military? we don't spend trillions on our military unless your adding multiple years together to get that figure...we spend more (almost double) on education than military...and are kids are stupid compared to rest of the developed world. @Kashmir70 You are right it does not make sence to spend more on education. Its a known fact our military is better served with uneducated kids. Yes the war in Iraq is over, and we are no longer in Iraq, and Iraq has total peace now. Also we need to cut wasted spending on welfare, and the old people in this country. That money would be better spent on our military. The USSR did real well spending trillions on their military. And Liberal media wants us to believe the old USSR crumbled.

Funny. All the righties still think Obama was "the most liberal Senator" just because Hannity, etc. told them so. During the campaign, he was actually ranked around 14th or something. @UncleIrv Point is that these tax cuts are supposed to be economic stimulators - they're not just handed out for fun. GW may have felt that way, because he inherited a surplus, but the Clinton days are gone. The fact of the matter is that Rush, and folks like him, have received a TEMPORARY gift - which was to create jobs and stimulate the economy.
Tax cuts for the very rich are not very stimulative - believe it or not, welfare payments are the most stimulative, followed by unemployment ins.

@UncleIrv It's not my conclusion - it's Obama's bipartisan Debt Commission. Tax cuts for the rich was at the bottom of their list, which included somewhere around another 10 more effective measures to stimulate the economy, welfare payments being number one. Look it up.

@UncleIrv And, besides, the last round of tax cuts didn't do much good, really. Since the majority of it went to the rich and the middle-class got screwed again. Tax cuts for the rich, after 10 yrs of proof that they don't stimulate, is stupid and wreckless. Rush, and my own acquaintances who make a million or more, are getting a good laugh out of it.
Even estate tax lawyers are rolling their eyes at the deal the super-rich got.
But, the point, it's the least stimulative move u can make.

@UncleIrv I do know one place that money went. Rush's extravagant $14,000,000.00 apartment on 5th Avenue in New York City. Garish isn't even the word to describe that place. He's complaining about taxes in NY, though..or he may have already sold the thing. There's some good tax free property in other parts of the world.
Funny thing is, he spent only about two weeks a year in that apartment, mostly to avoid hurricanes coming to Florida (his own words).

Rush invests his money, which in turn is used by those who take his investments and grow their companies (by hiring more employees) which put out more goods or services, which increases their profits and then Rush gets a dividend check from said investors....rinse and repeat. Grow a brain, liberal.

This caller needs more faith that America is smart. Conservatives were smart to sit home in November 2008. I hope this caller saw that we were not represented in 2008 and in 2010 we were represented and we kicked the crap out of the U.S. House Democrats electorally. I hope the Republican party took note of this too because as Marko Rubio said, this Democrat shellacking was not about people embracing the Republican party but rather conservatism!
