I bet this will be about 10 times more than a price of a regular remote...And how will you be able to record shows? Also, I am not that lazy to just pick up a remote and press a button on it to change a chanel or turn off the tv...
@roidroid actually she said "its under development right now, the piezo film and the solar panel" it seems quite clear from context that they are talking about the tech. If not then I stand corrected.
As for the negative comments: you guys are missing the point. This is about combining piezoelectricity with solar cells in flexible films, the remote is just to demonstrate this technology. No one is expecting you to buy the remote.
I guess the problem with that would be that a standard remote controller has tens of buttons on its surface so ud need to put the solar panel on the back plate of the remote which would be problematic.
Interesting...

I own one that responds simply to a full range of voice commands. Can't be more of a couch potato than that... lol

It's a novelty. Not an improvement since it takes two hands instead off one. Did she say solar? Must work off very little light.
BushPilot444 3 weeks ago
what is all this bend crap, we already have remote controls with fucking buttons that work perfectly, this is not an improvement on that design.

This "invention" is shit.
I mean, WHO would want this.
Ppl do not want
1. Solar powered remote control
2. an remote or device that u need BOTH hands to operate simple things
3. a device you have to use with effort
Why we dont need this.
1. give me one good reason we need ANY of the tech in this technology that we do not have before this "thing" was invented.. ONE good reason.
This "invention" is shit

i think this is more a concep to demonstrate the technology, of course this would be a ridiculous tv remote, imagine wanting to watch channel 859...
