Their rivalry back then was great. It pushed the other to be at their very best. I hated Yagudin back at their "era" but i have to admit he was a great skater and his olympic 2002 was well deserved. I love Plushenko!!! I hope they can both compete with each other again.
I like them both,they are worthy of respect as the greatest skaters. However I've fans of Yagudin are as bitter as him towards Plushenko. Moreover I've found Plushenko is such a great fighter and with such great creative talents into his program. He is still competing for his country and his FS in all three Olympics, you tell me it is not passion then I don't know what is.
I do not understand why people hate one and love the other. For me, I love them both! I wish they would skate together more often! And I really, really love that shot at the end, where they're standing with their arm up, just staring at each other. There's a wry smile on Evgeni's face that suggests that the rivalry made him sad.
My favorit is Plushenko, because he diverse, and more original. Yag great great talent, but Plushenko is Genius, he is everything: jumper, entertainer, he is original, funny, passionate, ballet dancer...And his personality is adorable!! And he is the most graceful man in the FS history( he is higher than Yag) Elegant!

They are both absolutely fantastic skaters, St. Petersburg is so fortunate to have both. Both of them have top of the world skills in technical elements; their jumps and combinations are equally fantastic; Plushenko definitely have better spins owing to his incredible flexibility; Yagudin's foot work, on the other hand, is simply otherworldly.
They are both very artistically accomplished as well; although Yagudin's performances definitely has better musicality and flow, not to mention passion

Wow, that was so dramatic. I especially love the end, where you see them going from two kids as friends hanging out together to a respectful hug and then finally to bitter enemies. Such an interesting history behind two of the sport's greatest. Although I hear these days, they're getting along fine, and its is nice to see these two boys have grown up.
