What I want to know is: How are you supposed to march in 3/4 time. That would be a little confusing, seeing how in the beginning 4/4 time is there. Then when you switch, you have to remeber that beat 1 doesn't always start with your left foot anymore.
I did this in 2006 with my drum corps. Counting 3/4 as 6 (two measures) makes your ones consistantly on your left foot.. I did this with 5/4 time - by counting it as 2 measures - 10 counts. The drill was written that way too. This approach will always result in count 1 hitting on your left foot.
If that's not making much sense, you'll just need to actually have an odd-metered piece to trial-and-error with. Experience is the best teacher.
Unbelievable that this is the same band I was in just a year and a half ago!!! You guys are awesome, I hope that maybe I'll get to see you on day soon!!!

You march in 6s - problem solved.
radiosteele 2 years ago
How are you going to march in 6s going 165 bpms? You would be going too fast to make a good sound.
