  • great cover lml

  • the solo sounds completly different but it still sounds awesome

  • jesus in the solo that was some fast picking :L

  • Love this shit!

  • Solo made me shit a brick...why couldn't it be gold, damnit?!

Excellent cover! That guitar has some balls if those are the stock pickups :D

  • Great job man, not an easy tune to play. Probably metallicas best ever. eh?

  • Very nice!!

  • The tone was so great...

  • Wow very good, I'm playing this song for years still havnt mastered it!

  • awesome job. im a huge fan of this song and just getting into using vegas to put a video together. huge props, big inspiration.

  • Awful timing.

  • @cursedswordsman Thanks! Yeah I know I have some hand-hand coordination issues. The alternate picking machine doesn't always sync up with the fret-hand fingering. Oh, sweet drawing of Kirby, btw. Judge not lest ye be judged. Yeah, I didn't have to say that, but you could've been slightly more verbose and/or helpful with your criticism. Thanks for dropping by!

  • @jsd1982 Hah. I got to hand it to ya man, you're a great sport in the face of my scathing criticism :D

  • @cursedswordsman Go fuck yourself

  • @cursedswordsman Awful comment :P

  • how do you make the videos like that? duets and stuff?

  • damn man you need to be in a band your like kirk himself holy shit

  • Comment removed

  • PERFECT!

  • Fuck Ya!

  • Great, Thanks.

  • Fucking sweet solo dude!!!

  • u look like james hetfield with glasses!(:

  • epic solo at the end

  • really this is the best cover, the sound is so perfect

  • I can do that ¬¬ 8:58 - 9:36

  • its close to the original, keep the good work up man ! do you play through an axe fx? cause the tone is awesome !!

  • @StefanIbanez No, the tone is all through the MESA/Boogie TriAxis. All tubes. :)

  • would you say the solo is difficult?

  • What kind of pickups did you use?

  • @sonymetallica1 The stock ones from Ibanez for the JS-1000 model. They're sweet.

  • @jsd1982 I have Ibanez RG321ex with infinity pickups and comparing with your tone it's sucks and i'm little confused with Seymour duncan or EMG

  • PURE

  • This is fucking amazing. Good job mate!

  • It's just perfect...x)

  • RAPED THAT GUITARRRRR

  • woowwww best¡¡

  • and dave mustaine went on to rearrange this to become hangar 18!

  • quick someone pick kirk's jaw off the floor

  • holy fuck!

    solos=nailed!!!

  • You're best!

  • Is it a Kahler tremolo?

  • @elldorado1991 No it's an Edge-Pro Tremolo, by Ibanez. Came with the guitar.

  • @jsd1982

    Thanks for the quick answer

But it really looks like a Kahler :D

  • HOLY FUCK!!!!!!! HOW THE HELL DO YOU DO THAT!!!!!!!

(you have superceded chuck norris as far as i am concerned)

  • @Blaklite101 Very carefully :-). Also, stay tuned for a new cover coming soon! This one's going to be perhaps even more badass than Ktulu.

  • yep, the 256th time is the best

  • @cmarvell1 Interesting that you chose 2^8th

  • EPIC!!!!! :D

  • What recording software was used?

  • Epic cover. Good job!

  • U know that shiver u get when u hear a song that is about to change ur life? Or did so twenty years ago? Oooooooohhhhhhh.....

    There it was again

  • damn thats a pretty good cover.............sick

  • listen to 3:25 again, not quite, very nice over all thought \m/

  • a solo so amazing we get to see it twice, and btw @jsd1982 i am absolutely envious of your impeccable timing

  • that solo was sick dude

  • I see you you are using economy picking in clean intro.

My question is what is better, economy or alternate picking at that part?

  • @vladj2 This is just finger-style, not economy picking. Economy picking involves using the pick and fingers, generally alternating between the two, for economy of motion. I can't say which is better. On the album it sounds like it was played using a pick.

  • @vladj2 if u learn alternita picking u can play faster and it is less work for your picking hand

  • everything about this screams quality. they should have youtube "elite" for shit like this. thumbs up bro

  • And yes tabs are available! It's called google you idiots! Or drive your lazy asses to a music store and buy the tab book.

  • @dbenc Hahaha absolutely. I just ignore tab requests now.

  • Wow! That's impressive!

  • very very good

  • this guy has how do you say.....BIG FUCKIN BALLS

Smoothest Metallica cover I've ever seen.....

  • gooooooooooooooooooooooooood!!!!! so fuckin what. nice

  • man, can u give us your tabs of this? :x

  • Insane!

    You're great

  • HOW can 1 person don't like THIS!!!!!!!????? That was soooo awesome you saved my day Dude!!! perfect sound and playing.. thanks for that!!!!

  • @DiboRapMan Lol. Can't please 'em all. Don't even try.

  • That was pretty good. You are def using a different tab then what I have found. Where did you find yours?

  • @Raider2845 Depends what parts you're talking about. For the main rhythm it's more or less straight from the official tab book as I remember it. For the lead/harmony parts it was by ear and some fuzzy memory of the tab book.

  • Dude i have a question, how you record your videos, the guitar sound !

  • @Imthegrffitymen Guitar is run straight through Triaxis preamp; direct in to audio interface. Use Cakewalk Sonar to record from the audio interface while recording video clips with video camera. Each guitar track gets a convolution plugin that simulates the power amp, speakers, and microphone to get a good sound. In Sonar, mix all the tracks down with the backing track to a master WAV. Import WAV into Vegas or Premiere, manually align all the video clips to that.

  • hey jsd...mind if I post a video response? btw...sick friggin cover..best I've seen on the net and esp on youtube

  • @bmbbmx Hey thanks! Yeah, knock yourself out! I'll approve it if I like it.

  • nice guitar dude ;) what is it an Ibanez....?

  • @21aap Ibanez JS-1000 BP, Joe Satriani signature.

  • That was awesome man, really love your tone. Check out my cover, i think you'll like it. I tried to make it close to perfect

  • AMAZING!!

  • wich how software you do this video?

  • very very nice man !

  • monumental cover, you are a beast!

  • すバラすぃ

    good job !

  • one person does not like guitars at all =\

  • the best cover of all times

  • Rewelacja. Super, super i jeszcze raz super zrobione.

  • just 1 dislike and whoever disliked this shouldn't own a guitar!

  • @13pointsin33seconds Couldn't agree more......... how could anybody not like this man's cover. Excellent JSD, truly excellent.

  • Hey dude, awesome guitar timbre. I just think you, how do I say... "toned-down" the drums and bass a bit. A tip from a fellow recording guitarist: Instead of lowering their volume to bring the guitar up, try opening a good EQ on the axes' tracks and finding which frequencies bring them up in the mix, and which ones you won't need. For example, I like to hi-pass everything below 80~100hz on the axes. Sure, it'll sound hollow at first, but that space is just what the bass' gonna fill on the mix.

  • @defuntoba Yup I'm aware of how and why to do that :). I'm pretty sure I did that in this mix, but the problem was I didn't have enough low-end in the drums and bass to accommodate for the cut on the guitars. The raw drums were actually toned up quite a bit from their original sound coming from EZDrummer. The bass you hear in this video is a synth; I have an MP3 download with a real bass recording in the description.

  • @defuntoba Oh also I have no problem tossing all the raw tracks your way somehow if you ever felt like you could improve on things (assuming you had the time and/or desire) and show me some other cool mixing tricks! Always willing to expand my skills in that area :)

  • Guitar nerd. :P

  • @TheUltimateCannel That's stating the obvious. :)

  • Daaymn ,, the solo part looks like "FAST MOTION"??

you did it better than kirk himself

  • @MuziqueFreeek Other opinions seem to differ on the solo. I think it's pretty good for a complete improv on the spot. :) Of course it's not perfect to the recorded solo. My justification is that Kirk pretty much sucks live so if he can't play it note-for-note live, I shouldn't be expected to either :P. Who knows if he was _ever_ able to reproduce the original recorded take live?

  • nice one dude!

  • i wish i had ur guitar skills

  • this song is a masterpiece, i love it. very well played mate!

  • Very nice, but it would sound better if you used plectrum in the intro too.

  • @ToaTheBoa I think it's easier to play the intro with fingerstyle. I always trip up when trying to pick it so I went with what was reliable for me to record it and that was fingerstyle. There's a small flubbed note in the intro which irks me. That same clip was repeated in the outro too.

  • Great Ibanez

    and Great guitar Effect

    and Great cover :D

  • i have the slightest feeling that on 3:33 you played the song slow and then put fast motion. cuz even in the beginning of the solo your hands look a little too fast

  • @13JimiHendrix If you're implying I purposely sped up the video or audio or something like that to make me look "faster", I assure you I did not. I had to manually line up the video clips to the audio master, so probably what you're seeing is just some slight desynchronization. It's either pushed a little ahead or a little behind, but it is definitely not sped up or slowed down.

  • @13JimiHendrix 1, if you look at his picking hand, it's alternating at a nice speed. 2, even his fret hands aren't going that fast... it's not a difficult part of the song... why would such a master like jsd have to cheat?

  • @ytsuckskillthem I'm certainly no master, but thanks for thinking so anyway :P. Yeah, cheating is actually harder to do than just doing it for real! To actually "cheat" I would have to record the track at a slightly slower tempo and rely on somehow "speeding up" both the audio and video clips to where you couldn't notice the obvious effect. If I did "cheat", then where did the audio track come from? Ever heard this exact recording anywhere else? :P

  • your guitar is pretty :)

  • Nice one!

  • BAD REALLY BAD SOLO! ¬¬

  • @FeRmAsTeRgH Really??? I think you might be slightly wrong there mate!

  • 1 guy got raped by Cthulhu....

  • My hands are retarded...

  • can you send me de tab pleaseeeeeee??

  • omg, the best cover i ever heard!!!!!!!!!!!!

what progam did u use to make 2 screens go nexst ot each other?

  • @koenikick Sony Vegas.

  • I am just in awe. You are amazing. I wish I could play like you, I have been playing for about 6 years and I still suck!

  • Real nice job bro

  • whoever is the 1 person that disliked this video, better be kirk hammett himself, or you deserve to die.

  • dude, where did you get the backing track ???

  • @genteuno Made it myself. Link is in the description to download it.

  • what programm did you use to make this video?

  • @FatZombieTV Everything is in the description. I used my JVC Everio HD 20GB video camera which records straight to its internal hard drive so there were no video recording programs in use, just a video editor.

  • balls of zeus this is amazing!!! The Call of Ktulu is my favorite instrumental that Metallica's written! It's so amazing!

  • Only let down by the solo. Sometimes less is more. Ask Dave Mustaine!

  • Excellent !

  • Great job man, I'm gonna upload my version of this song on bass here soon. I'm using your cover to practice along with. Also, I thought the parts at 6:20 and 8:44 was bass, not guitar.

  • @Evin07 They very well could be - didn't even realize that! Cool I'll check it out if/when I remember to.

  • @jsd1982 ya im pretty sure its bass

  • The best cover of any song I have ever seen! The Metal Gods are pleased.

  • insane!!!!!

  • That riff at around 3:30 is just fucking genius, where did that come from. i know you didnt make it by the way xD

  • @thomastw374 When I was born in '82 they came and asked me for some input so I gave them that riff. You're welcome.

  • how did you record the guitar???? are u using sony vegas as DAW ????

  • @arzaem1991 No, I use Cakewalk Sonar Producer as the DAW. I only used Vegas to compose the video clips together. I had the final audio mix all ready before I started with Vegas. I recorded the video clips as I tracked in Sonar so you are watching exactly what was recorded. Before each clip I spoke the measure number I was starting at so that I could find that in Vegas. I also had the metronome 4 count lead in audible on the video clip so I could find exactly which frame to start at.

  • @jsd1982 so u mean that you recorded it separately???? i still didnt get it....

  • @arzaem1991 I had the video camera running while recording all the guitar tracks into Cakewalk Sonar. I recorded all the guitar tracks first and then mixed all those together in Sonar with the backing tracks I also created from synthesizers. The last step was in Vegas where I just took the final mixed-down audio track from Sonar and sync'd in each video clip of the guitar parts. I didn't do any audio mixing in Vegas; just moved video clips around and applied video effects.

  • i wont stop untl i cover this song as good as u

  • Could you please tell us what gear you use, preamp, pedal and more ? Thank u

  • @morbol64 Ibanez JS-1000 BP guitar, Planet Waves cables, MESA/Boogie Triaxis preamp, Dunlop Crybaby 535Q wah-wah pedal, and Voxengo Pristine Space convolution reverb plugin in Cakewalk Sonar for the power amp and speaker simulation, also a Cakewalk Equalizer plugin pre- and post- convolution to shape the tone more and add definition to make the guitars cut through the mix. Then splash some reverb, multiband compression and limiters on top of the final mix to polish it up.

  • wow!! amazing cover dude

  • holy shit i am so glad i saw this..

  • God I wish you had 3 clones!

  • @daltonsalt4700 So we could play with ourselves? That's gross, dude.

  • Very Impressive

  • WOW YOUR GUITAR IS FUCKING SEXY

  • good job!

  • WOW! I'm practicing this song to make a youtube video of it but with your video up I don't see a reason to make one! It's been captured already, lol Great job guy! Any tab links for us?

  • @Metalguitarman1000 Nope! The lead was mostly improv, if you couldn't tell. I've known almost all the parts of the song for a while and the harmony parts I had to figure out by ear.

  • @jsd1982 Now I see the improv. and FYI it sounds GREAT! I'm going to be putting up this video on my channel soon. I've been trying to study the leads for exact accuracy but I will probably improv as well, Kirk is just too dam fast! Anyway, Excellent video and keep rockin out!

  • @jsd1982 Hey , Whatever you did, sounds AMAZING!!! Nice job and Keep the videos coming!

  • hear this song is like feel an orgasm

  • @thecallofthemetal i heard that if you play it al the way on the guitar, a demon's hands will burst from the ground and pull you under :O
