Polyphony themselves will tell you... Standard cars are low-res models directly imported from GT3 & GT4. They have not been improved in anyway, and feature NO interior view. I should know, I own the game and play it a lot.
Forza is a better game, and has better graphics. GT5 has better lighting on the premium cars, which is nice... But there are only 200 of them. The tracks and everything else (especially the backgrounds of the tracks) look MUCH better in Forza

@geterhero You're wrong. Standard models only have 5-10k polys and contain NO interior detail other than a black outline of a driver's head. It's a fact that standard models were copy/pasted from the PS2 games. Only the very few premium cars are actually rendered using PS3 assets.

This is the worst comparison video I have ever seen. Side shots for forza, and not for GT. Looking around while in cockpit in Forza, and not in GT. Cockpit view in GT while most of the dashboard happens to be in the shadow (Forza doesn't have such advanced shadow details). All in all stupid video.

Forza 3's a great game! But GT5 at its best ruins Forza! Therein lies the question though, does the fact there's so little consistency with GT5 make it a worse game, even though at its peak it's better than Forza. That's where the debate is, as it's common sense to admit that GT is a better game mostly. It's newer, had way more dev time and has a shit load more included. It runs on the more powerful console, it's a no-brainer. But the fact GT can be just OK at times ruins it for a lot of people.

One reason why GT5 took so long time to complete (and still isnt but might be with updates) is simple, PD did actually TEST out the CARS and modelled every real life track by THEIRSELVES by being there in person unlike Turn10 who had a CAR catalog to covert cars from, Turn10 didnt even record the sound of every car so they made most of them by theirselves. IF you start to model a car, go ahead and let US know how well can you make it into a game with 2 days or so.... :) just mentioning

@Sampyla20plus turn 10 put a mic next to the motor of every car in the game and DID go to every track to model the tracks with gps markers that they put down in increments of about 50 feet.
it also only takes around 6 hours to get a car into a game well anyways. [30 minutes for sound tests, 30 minutes for the graphics tape, 1 hour for the interior, and the other 4 hours to render the car in-game and work out all the kinks and smooth the design.

This is the worst comparison video I have ever seen. Side shots for forza, and not for GT. Looking around while in cockpit in Forza, and not in GT. Cockpit view in GT while most of the dashboard happens to be in the shadow (Forza doesn't have such advanced shadow details). All in all stupid video.

Forza 3's a great game! But GT5 at its best ruins Forza! Therein lies the question though, does the fact there's so little consistency with GT5 make it a worse game, even though at its peak it's better than Forza. That's where the debate is, as it's common sense to admit that GT is a better game mostly. It's newer, had way more dev time and has a shit load more included. It runs on the more powerful console, it's a no-brainer. But the fact GT can be just OK at times ruins it for a lot of people.

One reason why GT5 took so long time to complete (and still isnt but might be with updates) is simple, PD did actually TEST out the CARS and modelled every real life track by THEIRSELVES by being there in person unlike Turn10 who had a CAR catalog to covert cars from, Turn10 didnt even record the sound of every car so they made most of them by theirselves. IF you start to model a car, go ahead and let US know how well can you make it into a game with 2 days or so.... :) just mentioning

@Sampyla20plus I disagree, Forza Motorsport 3 has hit the nail on the head for their car sounds, Atleast a skyline actually sounds like an RB or an RX-7/RX-8 etc actually sounds ike a rotary, GT5 is terribly unrealistic when it comes to their sounds. Don't argue this with me, as i'm a car enthusiast. :)

Atleast T10 pointed it out some time back that their sounds arent pure but mixed from various sounds so their cars sounds good, do you call that "real" ? :) :) Cant argue with the developers or can you heh

@Sampyla20plus turn 10 put a mic next to the motor of every car in the game and DID go to every track to model the tracks with gps markers that they put down in increments of about 50 feet.
it also only takes around 6 hours to get a car into a game well anyways. [30 minutes for sound tests, 30 minutes for the graphics tape, 1 hour for the interior, and the other 4 hours to render the car in-game and work out all the kinks and smooth the design.
gt5 only did that for 200 cars out of 1000.

@BudzMcgr33n Rebuilding a near perfect digital copy of about 300 cars, making ultra realistic sound recordings of each car, writing freaking advanced programs so that the game would always run at a super smooth 60fps even at a 1080p resolution, putting incredibly realistic driving and weather physics into a game.. etc. How about you go recreate a car in and out in 3D and see how long doing just that would take you? See you in 6 years. xD

2. when you have that kind of power things are prown to fail. not that the car is crap, but because u WILL slowly begin to twist the frame from the torque, twist drive shafts, slowly u will kill ur engine, tranny and diff.
thats why most peopel hold back and keep their supra's or muscle cars w/e it is at lower #'s cuz they slowly kill themselves if their not re-built frequently.
