you assign 'lethal damage' that would be sufficient to kill the creature (e.g. his toughness), and any additional damage just spills over to the player/planeswalker.
@13Cadavre13 Ah, then yes. Everything in the Leveler's Glory deck should be Standard Legal, as well as extended. If you can build it up to a 60 card deck, you can enter sanctioned events and tournaments. Check around your area for Friday Night Magic. And as for a Leveling Deck... I've played around with one casually, I don't quite them they're tournament viable. They can be very enjoyable though. I've only played them in Block setting. Venerated Teacher/Training Grounds are a must.
@13Cadavre13 Er... I'm unsure what you mean by fully playable. When intro packs first come out, their cards are standard legal, and usually also block legal. This goes without saying that they are allowed in the broader formats as well. By fully playable, if you mean "Can use them to build another deck", then yes... There are no over-sized cards... Which Intro Pack are you thinking of?
Glory deck... Unfamiliar with that deck... What's the focus? Got a link?
@13Cadavre13 Uh... If you're talking about Intro Packs that come out each set, those are usually a Pre-Built 41 Card deck, with a 15 Card Booster of the same set included. They're not enough to play Constructed. =X
There ARE some 60 card pre-constructs. If you can get your hands on a ____vs. ___ Duel Deck, they're usually a great starting point. It includes two pre-constructed 60 card decks. Garruk vs. Liliana comes to mind, each one is a good example of how one should build a deck.
@13Cadavre13@13Cadavre13@13Cadavre13 In the end, an Attacker must assign all of it's combat damage. Without Trample, excess damage must be assigned to "Overkill" a blocker. Multiple Blockers can be declared against one attacker. In this case, the Attacker decides what order their Creature will deal damage to the blockers. Check out: "wwwDOTwizardsDOTcom/magic/TCG/NewtoMagic.aspx?x=mtg/tcg/newtomagic/gettingstarted", the "Dynamics of a Turn" section should help a bit.
@13Cadavre13 is being attacked, declares blockers by using their untapped creature. In a normal combat case, One Attacker/One Blocker, the Blocker takes all the assigned damage from the attacker. If this exceeds the blocker's Toughness (Second Number in x/y), at the Damage Step, the Blocker is destroyed as a result of it's Toughness being reduced to zero. If an attacker has Trample, AND its damage exceeds the blocker's toughness, extra damage can be assigned to the opponent's life/planeswalker.
@13Cadavre13 During the Combat Phase, you have a "Declare Attackers" Step. This is followed by the "Declare Blockers" Step. In declare attackers, you tap creatures and declare what target they're attacking (Vigilance Creatures don't get tapped to attack, they can attack while staying untapped). Normally, you target an opponent, or a Planeswalker controlled by the opponent. After this is the "Declare Blockers" Step. In this step, the defending player, who is being attacked or whose planeswalker..
If let's say, a 5/4 Fuzzy Thoctar attacks me, and I block with an 11/11 Darksteel Colossus with Trample. Does the other 7 damage from Darksteel Colossus spill over to any creature or player?
So if I attack with a 6/1 Groundbreaker an it becomes blocked by a 1/1 Essence Warden (For example) I can assing 1 damage to Essence Warden and 5 damage to my opponent... then both creatures are destroyed?
what if the blocking creature is indestructible?

wait so even if you get rid of the blocker by destroying or tapping it, it still some how blocks you creatures damage, unless it has trample?
randomname002 2 years ago
@randomname002 Yes. Because your creature became blocked.
Torishaka 2 years ago
what if i block a 7/7 trample with a 1/1 indestructible creature?
does the attacker do 6 dmg to the player or does the indestructible creature soak all damage up?
(sry english not best :D)
Vazruden 2 years ago
the indestructible creature is dealt 1 damage and the other 6 is dealt to the player
jwmints 2 years ago
@Vazruden Player takes 6 damage, unless the opponent (For some reason) decides to assign extra damage to overkill the 1/1 Indestrucible.
Indestructible just means that the 1/1 will not leave the battlefield as a result of lethal damage.

Here's a question for the masses:
If let's say, a 5/4 Fuzzy Thoctar attacks me, and I block with an 11/11 Darksteel Colossus with Trample. Does the other 7 damage from Darksteel Colossus spill over to any creature or player?
WrightWindWrath 2 years ago
I think trample aplies only for attacking creatures =/.. when you block nothing happens
Teruk0 2 years ago
@WrightWindWrath No, Trample has no effect when blocking.
Torishaka 2 years ago
what I didn't know is if you destroy a blocking creature after it blocked, the attacking creature deals no damage if it doesn't have trample ability
liquidcat80 2 years ago
So if I attack with a 6/1 Groundbreaker an it becomes blocked by a 1/1 Essence Warden (For example) I can assing 1 damage to Essence Warden and 5 damage to my opponent... then both creatures are destroyed?
Teruk0 2 years ago
i think...yes,but I don't know,i haven't got a lot of experience in magic
1FlyingShades1 2 years ago
yes, exept it all happens at the same time.

Right, that would be possible (and probably the smart thing to do^^)!
