  • i swear, when I heard the K5LA, I almost cried. It has been so long since Ive seen an Fl-9 in action. You need to tell me when an Fl-9 is scheduled to run again on the Naugy. I heard that also # 2002 is in repair for the same line, is this true? Im subbing u .

  • Cool to see an F unit with a K5LA.

  • he's keene at 3:03!

    cheerful at 4:43!

speechless at 6:30! very noble indeed!

  • he's keene at 3:03!

    cheerful at 4:43!

  • he's keene at 3:03!

  • was 1246 one of the engines that was at Steamtown in Vermont?

  • @rushs11 It surely was!

  • Cool they got an F9! I rode this back in like 2003 when I was 6. I think they had an RS-3.

I'd wish the metro-north still used the old NH scheme on some of it's engines like they used too..

  • @USMCnBNSFdude Metro North didn't use it, the Connecticut Dept. of Transportation used it. FL-9, BTW.

  • @USMCnBNSFdude We have three RS-3's at RMNE. We have NH 529, B&M 1508, and MEC 557.

  • Nice video. Two things though. The 2203 is infact the last of the U-Boats. And the B&M loco is a GP9 not a GP7. Overall nice Vid. You picked the best spots for runbys, and you got great shots of 2019. I couldnt really see in cab windows too well but I think I may have been engine crew that day. Not sure though. Also a little "fun-fact" for the F-unit lovers RMNE also has the last F-unit EMD ever built. NH 2059 (FL9)

  • @cybertrain92 Thank you for the correction on the B&M unit. It would be great to see the B&M unit operating again at some point! The RMNE by far has one of the nicest shop facilities I've ever stepped foot into. If I lived closer, I would love to be a volunteer at the Naugy.

  • @CSX6000 Well B&M (NAUG) 1732s prime mover is slowly getting worked on as we have other projects that are more of a priority at the moment. Once we get the prime mover is back together I believe the plan is to sand blast the loco and put it back into the original paint scheme. Blue hoods, Black cab, White doors. (forgot the name of the paint scheme). She will be a very nice running and good looking loco when she comes back to life.

  • @cybertrain92 I do agree that you guys have other projects that have a higher priority. I can't wait to see some of the coaches with a fresh coat of paint!

  • @CSX6000 Oh yes, you and me both. 4992 is in the shop now for roof work. Then I beleive the plan is in January 5046 is going in for wheel work and new paint. I've heard its going back to Canadian National paint. (green, black stripe, and red leaf emblems) but im not 100% positive yet.

  • @cybertrain92 The paint scheme your thinking of is the McGinnis Paint scheme (blue body, black cab, white doors). McGinnis also painted the New Haven railroads F-Units, PA`s, and EP-5s in their classic scheme like #2019.

  • @alcolovr190 You are correct. I am familiar with the NH version of the McGinnis scheme, but I wasnt aware that B&M called that a McGinnis scheme also. I was talking about it in the shop one day with the guys and they called it something else but I cant remember.

  • @cybertrain92 What your thinking of what they called it is the Bluebird paint scheme. #1732s current paint job is the latter Bluebird paint design. The earlier design had the black cab, blue body, and white doors.

  • 4 in the front? 6 in the back? wtf?

omg thats my fav class CP pacific!!!!!!

please tell em to restore it!!!! lol jk

    great video

  • @shininghappyperson7 Thanks, but did you not read the description?

  • @CSX6000 @shininghappyperson7 i did,it just looks very odd, like something is missing, lol.i think there is the same locomotive in maine in the maine central scheem too

  • @shininghappyperson7 The reason for the 6 wheel rear truck is to support the extra length that makes that engine an FL-9 and not an F9. The "L" stands for "long" and the reason for the extra length is the HEP or Head End Power unit that is housed at the rear or the locomotive.

  • @seagraver peeps i know, i just personally dont think it looks that nice!! thats all.

  • @shininghappyperson7 Well you better call up EMD and tell them that their design sucks!!

  • @CSX6000 ahahahaha, yeah i do like their SD series like the SD-70 and any of their 6 axle "nose" units with a normal cab ,any of the "jeeps". and actually just about any EMD with no turbo chargers.they ruin the sound of the engine.

  • @seagraver the three axle truck isn't for the added length ;). It's to support the original steam boiler in the back and then afterwards the large HEP unit. It also had to do with weight regulations for the Park Avenue viaduct and axle loads.

  • @FL9AC I am very familiar with the FL9, as I regularly work on and with 2019. You are correct. It is indeed because of the support needed for the boiler and the later HEP unit. The FL9 is 9 feet longer than the rest of the F series though. I should have been more elaborate in my original comment. My apologies.

  • @joneau261 Thanks! It's a Twain!

  • awesome video thanks for sharing it

  • @pennsouprod No problem!

  • Awesome video Adam! I like that NH F-unit!

  • @KyleVideoDesigns Thanks! It's pretty cool isn't it?

  • I've always loved the New Haven Bulldogs.

  • @CaptainDarthy They sure do look good!

  • @CSX6000 Great video Adam! I`ve been trying to go there but never have had the chance to. They do have a nice collection of F-units (4 EMD and 1 Alco FA) as well as 3 RS-3`s (ex-NH, B&M, and MEC). Nice to see the GP-9 in her old Bluebird colors. Do you know by any chance if they are planning to restore CP #1246 and/or B&M #1455 to operation again? Any way, Great video.

  • @alcolovr190 The B&M steam engine is down at Danbury. They own the 1246 and the ex-VALE 103. Glad you liked the video.

  • @CSX6000 Ok, I forgot about #103 ... I know they moved her from Essex about 2 years ago. If you know off-hand, does the RMNE have any plans to have #103 or #1246 restored to operation for use on their excursions?

  • @alcolovr190 In the far-off future. Right now they have passenger cars and diesels to get in working order. They're still expanding their yard/shop facilities as well.

  • @alcolovr190 No immediate plans to restore steam to working order... That would take a lot of money and resources that are not available to us right now.

  • @ovondrak Thanks for the better insight Otto. Hope you liked the video!

  • @CSX6000 Absolutely - great video!

  • Excellent video Adam! The FL-9 sounds great!

  • @GenesisSanctuary Thanks! It sure did.

  • Excellent Video Adam

  • @21stCenturyLtd Thanks Kevin!
