This movie was brilliant!!!!!! In a way, this movie along with In the Heat of the Night defined me as a person. I understood this as a 10 year old cause my granddad always talked about dignity, and not getting that honor we deserved cause of what he used to call "bottom of the barrel negroes".

Wow! More power to you. I totally forgot about this film. Your upload came up on my recommended file. I am an out of work actor, who lost an agent, couldn't get a lot of work, but who is really good. But in England (where I am from), you have to be a monkey-ghetto youth or a nice, sexless, non threatening negro who speaks the Queen's english to get "ahead" in acting. If you're just a good actor, with talent and range, but you've got brown skin, man, the resistence is strong. BUT, persist.

This movie was brilliant!!!!!! In a way, this movie along with In the Heat of the Night defined me as a person. I understood this as a 10 year old cause my granddad always talked about dignity, and not getting that honor we deserved cause of what he used to call "bottom of the barrel negroes".

Chuck D (public enemy) said once, that he went to an all white school and the students were surprised he didn't act like JJ Evans from Good Times. Kid Dynomite, was one ignorant negro (not Jimmie Walker) but the character "they" made him play.

I saw Lakeview Terrace last night, and you was right, it was crap. Everybody should have a right to date/marry/fuck who they want, but that flick was way outta line.

Placing black people in a positive light wont make life better for many black people in america that's living in poverty .

Its' like with Indian caste-ism, if you believe some one is a polluted, out-caste, then, you'll look down on them no matter how rich or educated they may become. In fact, you might hate the rich ones more for being "out of their place." . . . . Blame the hater !

Damn good clip. However, if you watch the movie, one can deduce that the "Ignorant Negro" wasn't CJ: itr was the Sargeant, as played by Adolf Caesar, and Denzel Washington's character.
I understand what you're sayin', but I must disagree. No one has the right to judge who's fit or not fit to be Black. That's up to God. Those who act ouuta pocket will get theirs in the end.
