@TheKidCannibal Up here people use the name bullsnake and gopher snake to refer to the same animal (Pituophis catenifer deserticola ). What are the species you are referring to? That is the problem with the usage of common names - what is a bull snake in one area might be something completely different in another.
@CSItefla There used to be some huge gopher snakes here but I don't think they get as old as they used to. Too many cars, not as much habitat and too many people with shovels!
wow, thats awsome! I have lived here my whole life searching for yellow belly racers or gophers, but I can only seem to turn up garters. Is there any specific place I should be looking?
you forgot a very good one , my personal favorite the bullsnake ( wich contary to popular bel;ief is not the same as a gopher)

I've stumbled across a gopher snake along one of the paths at Peterson Creek Park last year. Definitely a big snake
