Running out of room it seems in these windows. I get what you are doing and most designers recommend a buffer front and end of chain for optimum effect so you could get the best of both worlds. I actually prefer my OD to goose the higher gains or after them as a thickener. You have given me the urge to get another PB1 and rig it at the end of the chain. I am curious now as to what it will do to my OD tone. At any rate the Radial is a top shelf buffer circuit. Read the info on it.
Actually I got the Radial as a 1st in chain buffer pedal, I seldom use the clean boost and I keep it set pretty low with the dampener load adjust all the way open. There was an immediate lifting of the board signal load when I hooked the buffer up. I almost got the Lehle buffer Sunday Driver but it was more than the Radial and the Radial is a superb pedal. The buffer circuit is amazing. I do not see the box as boost. It drops the impedance from hiZ to low and lifts the cap load from a chain.
A clean boost after drives makes the dist louder and takes off some of the gain and changes and rounds the tone some. I prefer the Radial PB1 1st up as they recommend, not so much for the boost function but just the impedance load lift of the buffer circuit. I seldom use the boost function and I have one in my wah. My amp has two clean boosts post gain so I have tons of options. An A/B of the 1st in chain buffer made me a believer. It's boost option is just an added thing for me.
@CarvinTone Guess putting the booster 1st works for you - great! I found that it messes with my dist boxes - it makes the Zingy Drive and BB sound different than what I'm used to, it affects them in a way I don't really like (takes away some of the dynamics, the headroom). The signal that gets fed into the dirt boxes is boosted, making the overdrive pedals compress more. So yeah - this setup works for me. 2 clean boosts post gain - what have you got, a Rivera or a boutique amp? Sounds cool...
Nice board, nice pedal options seems be laid out as an experienced player would render. Hard to go wrong w T-Rex although I find them a bit much in price. Interesting drive, is that more like a Klon? Xiotic always a good choice. Fulltone Wah is the choice of Trower. I recently became addicted to Wampler pedals although I use the new TC series for chorus and delay, Hardwire reverb. Since you have all bypass might I suggest a buffer pedal up front you will really like the signal load lift it does.
@CarvinTone That's exatly what the Radial does! I use it as a buffer (after the drives of course - buffers always mess with dirt boxes... not in a good way) and have the loop patched. Love the way it brightens up my setup, gets back some of the high frequencies I lose in the chain. Thank you for your compliments! Zingy Drive is a Zendrive clone (with more tonal options), the BB has a Bluesbreaker type drive. Trifecta is an awesome fuzz, very versatile (3 modes, boost option, wide tonal range).
