It depends on how conservative and orthodox is your family, it has nothing to do with religion. ;-)
Islam doesn't prohibit arts or having fun as long as you don't forget your religious duties, everything should be done on the right time.
However, mani conservative muslim make everything forbidden and haram.They think that they are applying "real islam" .In fact their practice is excessive and extremist.
