  • How is that fun!!??

  • Ow earbuds not a good idea

  • Aaaaaa my ears it hurt more becuase my headphones

  • Bill nye really let himself go

  • that is murder on the ears DX

  • is it cool for scientists to have mad hair?

  • OH MY EARS! DEAR GOD! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!

-that's what I would have if I had plugged in my earphones :P

  • awesome!

  • oh no its a hobo!!!

  • Haha it sounds like an amp

  • good god my ears

  • Lets make an orchestra of it!

  • You seem like an awesome teacher

  • @megajandl umm. God didn't make dry ice. It's not found anywhere in nature.

  • @MrDrcosmo Umm... I don't know if there's any on Earth but there's a ton of it at the poles on Mars. Just Google "Mars frozen carbon dioxide"

  • Sorry but your wig makes you look like an idiot.

  • omg put a volume warning up

  • Isn't Gods creations awesome!!!

  • Oh, science. Please do not stop amazing me! By the way, who keeps their headsets on while watching a video with "screaming" in the title?

  • so this is how they made those sound fx for FEAR

  • And when you cut it,it farts.

  • Ow! I was wearing earphones!

  • @JShade808 Yeaah me too! It hurted soo badly :P

  • are you whering a mop on youre head?

  • Holly cow mr. Brunner p.s. I am the one that you talked to in the halls at the school.

  • @hobotron3000 its cuz dry ice doesnt go into the liquid state when it melts so the escaping gas causes the metal to vibrate really fast making a loud screeching sound

  • Never watching VIDS on iPod AGAIN!!!!!

  • Hi alex o. This is gman

  • Thats cool

  • OMG , thats so freaking IRRITATING !!!! but it is kind of cool , thanks for making me deaf anyway :)

  • I used an iPod to view it and it was so loud

  • that is torture, they should use this against the terrorists.

  • who cut yer hair?

  • ow my ears are bleeding T_T

do not use an iPod to view this

  • KJStudioafilms: me too! I am on my ipod.

  • I had

    My

    Headphones

    In

  • thumbs up if u went deaf cause you had headphones in

  • THis is sick . Im gonna make a song that starts with this noise.

  • that sound makes me cringe !

  • Nice didn't mean to flagg

  • I just died alittle

  • NO MORE PLZ

  • Lmao, that sounds SO annoying. I had my headphones on and I did NOT turn down my sound....derp. :P

Also: if you wana see my "let'splay dead space 2", check out my channel and sub if you like! Thanks!

  • hahahah that is loud, I will have to try this

  • lol, it's like something outta Silent Hill

  • How do u know I went to walmart lol:)

  • If you have indoor pets nearby, cover their ears or turn the volume down! :) My house rabbits just freaked out!!

  • skweak!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

  • bueno

  • nails on a chalk board!!!

  • thanks, you got me grounded!

  • they used that effect for the lightning that emperor palpatine makes in return of the jedi

  • I think I've just discovered how they created the soundtrack for the Silent Hill games.

  • Electrified Ice

    youtube.com/watch?v=GaTwP8jOAnk

  • I love your mad science smile when it makes the shrieking sound.

  • My teacher did this in class. EPIC

  • I wonder if its possible to play with this on guitar :)

  • EEECH I don't like that sound, thanks for telling me to turn down the volume though.

  • Sounds like a horror film.

  • "gotta try that at home".... wasn't it the other way?

  • this could totally be used for torture methods

  • haha my speakers were turned down but my kitten heard it and jumped up with her ears perked and all and when it stopped she looked around like 'i knew that would happen...heh...i was juuust acting'

    XDi luv cupcake

  • LOL! Also try sticking a dime on the dry ice, and it's gonna start dancing because it's so cold!

  • The creature has returned

  • what makes it do that?

  • How does this work?

  • sound needs a medium like air or water and there is no air in space but possibly water on the moon

  • OMG that hurts my ears that would drive me crazy

  • the sound sucked so much, my eyes imploded

  • ear explosion lol

  • it may be loud, but i bet a mandrake new born would eb so much louder. just ask neville

  • we did this to my brothers car before :D

  • doesn't beat a mandrake.

  • XD never watch this video on full volume

  • dude stop complaining about the sound. he warned you it would be loud. im wearing headphones too and i have no problem with it >_<

:D i really need to try that!

  • How are people complaining about this sound? I think it sounds wonderful.

  • why dose it do that?

  • :P i did this to my boyfriend when he had a really bad hangover!haha he was pissed!

  • i figured that out once when i was using a screwdriver to cut dry ice, and it made that noise and it surprised me! LOOL

  • My ears are bleeding lol

  • i need dry ice :P! now do i get dry ice?

  • @dadapopa Well you probably already got a reply but like in one of his videos he said that you can get dry ice at Super Walmart, they keep it locked up and if you ask the cashier he will sell you some for a dollar but they don't sell to minors

  • @CrazyAnimeChick45 hmm we don`t have a super wallmart in holland, and i`m 20 :P so i need dry ice :P

just looks like so much fun :P

  • whats dry ice used for?

  • @Dcforlife025 first sorry for the vote down, I ment to hit reply .. Dry ice is frozen Carbon Dioxide (CO2) it is used for shipping items that need to stay cold. It is also used at parties for smoke effects in drinks. It is safe to use in drinks, but is extremely cold (minus -109.3°F) safe to use in punch bowls for the smoke effect, and consumption. Just make sure that your guests don't get a piece in their cup.

  • @Dcforlife025 currently dry ice is used to create ice substitue ... which athlets use if they get hurt ... u can buy one from local drug store :P also helps keep cool other items for MANY hours like injections, drinks, foods etc etc...

  • @grafitasson

I think you are thinking of Sodium Acetate.

  • @Dcforlife025

Transporting items such as ice cream, or anything that needs to be kept frozen, but without a lot of water melting...plus things stay colder in dry ice longer.

  • Owwww...I just had to turn off that video xD

  • the sounds in 0:34 and 0:41 are 99% matching with a few sounds that NASA got from outerspace! Trust me, i used a lil' program i got and i compared the two sounds, they match!! maybe there are no aliens at all, maybe some kind of metal just crashed with dry ice in outerspace... but who is that possible? in outerspace there is no friction. WEIRD!

  • @grafitasson

    1. What's this alleged program called

    2. There is too friction in space, there are rocks and dust and plenty of other things for you to collide with making me less likely to believe in your claim.

  • @tyb4 Golden Sound Editor... this program "splits up" music and lets u see how the sound was created, wat was added... it can also add more sound effects to ur piece, like the tone when someone calls bad names. the point is u hav to find out how to use it, cause its very dificult. to download it, just google it. :D

  • @grafitasson

I would like to know how you would get sound from space anyways. Sound needs matter to travel through, like our atmosphere, and what matter that is out in space is too far apart to carry sound.

  • @grafitasson Uhhh... there's friction everywhere wtf are you talking about LOL.... There is no AIR resistance / friction... There is no AIR in space.. its a vacuum.. What that means is say when you fly or travel thru space, there is no gasses to slow you down. No air resistance. But there is ALWAYS friction between two surfaces... Its quite possible that there is frozen co2 in space that collided with the craft... very nice find!!!

  • @Mxracer6y watever u say... i just said wat i found out... i thought it would be best to let u all know as well

  • @grafitasson the sounds in 0:34 and 0:41 are 99% matching with a few sounds my grandpas hip replacement make when he moves! Trust me, i used a lil' program i got and i compared the two sounds, they match!! maybe there is no hip replacement at all, maybe some kind of hip just crashed with dry ice in my grandpa... but who is that possible? in my grandpa there is no friction. WEIRD!

  • @Speedow wow, ur grandpa sounds like a robot... perhaps if u played ur **** a lil' u would forget bout it...

  • @Speedow wat ru .. like 10 ?

  • @grafitasson Too bad in outer space THERE'S NO SOUND!!

  • @Jacen47 actually there is... ask NASA :)

  • @grafitasson and why would there be dry ice in outerspace? i'm actually curious 'cause i wouldn't think there would be lol

  • @grafitasson except sound doesnt propagate in space making retrieval of sounds from space impossible.

  • @grafitasson

Actually, there is friction is space, but there is little or no gas, so sound won't travel through it.

  • @SputnikSkull7 i think he means that the static electricity gotten from space....

  • @SputnikSkull7 you and @grafitasson are both wrong... Yes there is friction in space, but sound doesn't travel through it because of the vacuum of space.

  • @Jinclops That is pretty much exactly what @SputnikSkull7 was saying.... A vacuum means, guess what, "no gas"!

  • @sharpiemarker91

    Indeed.

  • @sharpiemarker91 and @SputnikSkull7 Well, a scientific person like myself, I did some research, and I came up with this website (I'll PM it to you) You might find it interesting. None of us had it exactly right. In science, making a mistake is an opportunity to learn something you didn't already know. So don't reply saying "told you so" because technically we were all wrong.

  • @SputnikSkull7 Goofball, the gas is what creates the friction. If there were friction in space, then they would have wasted all their fuel getting to the moon.

  • @KingWilliamI

There's a difference between friction and air resistance. Since space is almost a perfect vacuum (there are trace amounts of gas in space), there is almost no air resistance in space. However, if two solid objects collide in space, there will be friction between them. I hope this ends the controversy. >.<

  • @SputnikSkull7 By definition, air resistance is a type of friction.

  • @SputnikSkull7 yes but if nasa heard it then it had to be a radio signal

  • @grafitasson There could be another substance that substitutes for Dry Ice somewhere in space that doesn't require friction in order to make sound. Ya never know. :P

  • @grafitasson Maybe aliens were making an expiriment too?

  • @grafitasson There IS friction in outer space. There is no air so no friction from air and there is no sound since it hasnt got a medium to travel through. :)

  • @grafitasson What's the name of this "lil' program" of yours? Is it called ears? I guarantee that they cannot determine with that precision.

  • the space is ice cold then this can happen

  • @grafitasson you know that NASA lies a lot right :D we never know if what they tell us is true or not

  • @grafitasson Hell yeah, you've got the recordings from NASA and a programm to compare the shit? You sir, must be either Jesus or a liar.

  • @grafitasson why is there no friction in outerspace?

  • @rantendo there is no matter... Therefore, no friction =l

  • @WunderWaffel270 aren't the metal and dry ice you mentioned matter?

  • What would happen if you licked on that piece of dryice? It would be epic, wouldnt it?! I mean. streetlights are getting old. But dryice?! EPIC!

  • @mrchriss

You remember the scene in "A Christmas Story" where Schwartz sticks his tongue to the frozen pole? Well, the pole was around -10 deg F or so...Dry Ice is about -110 deg F...do the math.

  • why does it make that noise when you put it on the sheet? O_____O

  • @spartan1010101 wouldnt you scream if you got dryice on your bare skin?! :P Sheets do also have feelings, you know.

  • @mrchriss ahhhh we must experiment with more items then :3 we must find out what other things have feelings!!! >:3

  • @spartan1010101

    wiki.answers.com/Q/When_dry_ice_touches_metal_why_is_there_a_screeching_sound

  • why does this happen?

  • haha god damnit

  • dude that could be a new instrument in hard rock metal

  • i reallly like your videos

  • You think Movie sound fx makers use this in those creepy dark horror movies? I remember that grinding metal sound in movies like Saw, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, etc. Very interesting video!

  • You can also do that with any coin

  • My LEGG!!!!!!!

  • ARGHHHH! STOP IT!

  • GAAAAHHH!!! MY EARS!!!!!

  • turns out to be the case lol just found a powered pneumatic drill alr on youtube ... interestin

  • hmm if i read it then its cause the pressure brought on the co2 in the dry ice that causes the vibrations with the metal ... interesting

so what if u compress co2 incyde a cube or cylinder and see what kind of pressure or vibrations u could make ... then put some springfeathers around it to make power from them vibrations = new powersource?

  • @molligemozes

A rather inefficient one. It takes more power to create the dry ice in the first place.

  • You can do it with any coin too

  • thats just the best hair ever...

  • interesting, I have learned stuff today.

  • EAR RAPE lol

  • teeehheee i did this :D

  • try playin a guitar with it lol make a pick of dry ice :p

  • @molligemozes that would be fucking awsome im actually gunna try it

  • haha my bro would like this...muahahahaha >=D

  • but why the dry ice make that creepy sound when touch a metal!? :P

  • The dry ice "boils" at room temperature. you are hearing the gases escaping form the melting portion of the dry ice rapidly--causes a vibration and sound as the still frozen sections are hitting against the pan. it's just a very fast vibration--the harder you press the dry ice the faster the vibration and the pitch of sound goes up.

  • WoW! COoL, Got it and thanks!!!. Now, that i know how that works im gonna buy some dry ice in try it :P!

  • Those would make epic slasher film effects.

  • Ben Burtt used dry ice on metal for some of the sounds in his SFX library that he had made for Star Wars. A couple of the more tonally metallic sounds he achieved were mixed into R2-D2's vocabulary.

  • please don't do that

  • You also could make a less sound with a metal spoon

  • Wow it could be a new instrument t can be used in a metal concert :)

  • @PojekGwapzpo123 or Justin biber could use it in his next video, along with the vuvuzele

  • sound like my friend is singing

  • That's Mean

  • have you heard her sing?

  • hahaha

  • Sounds like vault 101opening in fallout 3

  • yeaaaaah

  • @cksugdad

    hahaha! true

  • @cksugdad i know hahaha

  • Cool, I just wondering where do you get the dry ice from

  • @opal1920able You can get dry ice from some stores, put a ad in craigslist, things like that! Theres alot of very fun expirements!!!

  • same here ^_^

  • DO NOT WANT WHEN HUNGOVER...ignorant

  • ARRGHHHH

  • Very cool.....But i would have love 2 hear u tell us y it makes that sound..u know brake it down 2 us...thank u

  • i t THINK it MIGHT be the extreme cold of it makeing the metal contract

  • @samtheman1234567able it is because the co2 gas is pushing up when he is pushing down so it is vibrating alot and makes that sound

  • omg that sound lolz

  • sounds like a chain saw.. you could use that trick in a haunted house.. lol!

  • who brought the power saws?

  • Sir the sub is sinking!

  • Sounds like the Second Death Star exploding!
