blade speed for this and any saw really is much to high, so it tends to build too much heat and prematurely wears the blade out. that said ive done it, and as ive said ruined blades.
Good video ...thanks.. im still going back & forth on what BS to buy...this vid helps. If you could please post some comments on how your saw has performed since you posted this vid...Thanks again
I have had no issue with this saw. Since the initial setup all that I have had to do is adjust the cool blocks from time to time. I use it on just about every project through the shop. Even after selling off a bunch of my other tools I have a hard time letting this saw go. I use it mainly for linear cuts so the wide Olson blade stays on the saw.
just bought this saw and am having problems with vibration. mounted it on a 3/4 inch piece of plywood, but that didnt seem to help much. should i keep the rubber grommets under the motor? i removed them when i put the plywood on the base. Also the wheels seem to be balanced and I changed out the belt.
@4cbutters , I removed the rubber grommets. I tried with and without. Without grommets the vibration was less. On my saw the combination of wood base, ridgid mounting the motor, and swapping the belt seemed to do the trick. I have also balanced the wheels, but they were pretty good to start with.
great review, i have the triton b/saw its great but i dont know the actual difference between crap blades and a good blade.. what q's do i need to ask of a shop?
I just put my ridgid 14 ' together it work ok but i see the upgrades will make it much nicer.I would like to see your base. i need to make mine mobile. Thanks for your vid.
Not much to the base. I bolted the stand to a piece of mdf scrap I had about and put some spare casters on it. I used the stock leveling feet with some thread inserts for locking the saw in position to work.
I just picked up the Kreg Fence. Mounted it tonight when I got home. Seems pretty good, was wondering how you liked it. I paid about $97 bucks for the fence. I have a 14 Inch Delta.
Kreg fence has worked great for me. Only complaint I have is the sharp machined corners can grab you as you are walking through the shop and that smarts :-)
I have the same saw and am curious why you dont think this is a good candidate for a riser block. Is the 3/4 horse power motor too weak? Or is it that the max saw blade is 3/4 inch? Thanks for the post.
Yes and yes. If you want to do massive amounts of resawing then a bigger and more powerful saw are in order. That said, for what it is I am just as pleased with the saw now as when I posted the video.
With the right blade can you cut metal with this saw?

Pretty sweet saw. I have a grizzly 14" model g0555.

Similar saw. The Grizzly has more features stock. I really just wanted to pick this tool up locally though, so the Ridgid won out.
