  • This version is lame becuz Pete is playing accoustic guitar! Long Live The Who!

  • Pete was never found guilty of anything! Oh, and this version of this song is lame becuz Pete's playing accoustic guitar!

  • drums are weak in this. i never felt like they tried to fully emulate keith moon when he was gone. and don't tell me you can't---you can. i'm a drummer and he's influenced me more than anyone, and i can probably emulate him spot on. his gift wasn't that he was the only one who COULD do it----keith's gift was that he was the one who DID. once he was gone, the who never tried to keep that energy alive.

  • Roger looks like Perry Cox in this vid...

  • men i hate the second guitarits.....the who only need one guitarrist and thtat guitarrist is pete

  • Yes ,Peter Dennis Townshend was convicted in 2003 for downloading kid porn, and excepted a police caution and placed on sex register for five years.

  • Roger must have been excruciating pain during this. The way he sings must have made his eye throb with pain. Ouch...

  • The second "drumkit" you mentiond is actually the percussionist, Jody Linscott's set up. She's an incredibly talented percussionist. She's preformed with not only the who, but toured with each surviving member of the group individually as well as David Gilmore (Pink Floyd), Santana, The Clash, Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton and many more.

  • I saw The Who at the Oval Cricket ground. Keith played the drums with cricket bats, well wrecked them really!!! In fact think we were all wrecked. The support band were Rod and the Faces.

  • Tell me I'm not seeing things. At 2:53. Two drum kits?

Well then, that means that Keith Moon, by himself, was...

    was...

  • this whole album is good

  • They're not getting older, they're just getting cooler & cooler :D

  • They were old in 1996. Lol.. What are they now, dinosaurs?

  • You at Zak hes having a blast

  • We are the mods...

  • @sicksicsix69

    We are the ROCKERS!!

  • DOOCTOR 3:45 LOL!

  • W.A.S.P. are inspired by the who and Blackie made friends with Pete Townsend. To be fair, W.A.S.P. made the best cover song ever when they recorded 'The real me', not an easy feat to cover The Who. Check out this cover from W.A.S.P. and tell me it is not better. W.A.S.P. have pulled off the same trick twice, when they covered Mountains 'Mississippi Queen', and made better and already classic. Long live W.A.S.P. & long live 'The Who'. Jul, 2011.

  • Wow, how'd you like to be at the end of that audience? Might as well have stayed at home to listen to records.

  • our doctor was born in obama, i mean our healthcare, i mean osama, i mean, mother

cant' you see what wheel is for within and the cogs of ignrance

    2011 KENYA BIRTHER POST RAPTURE

  • tell you about the weekends that lasted decades, doctor

    brother preacher post rapture 2011

  • man i just wish they didn't take it so slow

  • bass players get no respect! john was amazing!!! im a bass player and i wanna be as good as him when i grow up lol

  • can they get any farther away from their fans

  • jools holland looking young here :')

  • this shit is gold, first time I hear this band

  • Keith Moon dies but Travis Barker is the sole survivor of a plane crash : /

  • nice

  • A true anthem for the isolated and outcast.

  • I was at this show in 96 about 10 rows from the front. On the day we saw Jools Holland' s R&B Orchestra, Alanis Morrisette, Bob Dylan featuring Ronnie Wood then The Who and finally Eric Clapton. The Who were joined by an all star cast for Quadrophenia and the comperes included Frank Bruno and Billy Connolly.

Incredibly as it was a Princes Trust gig, tickets were only £8!

  • n yeah another thing is there r 2 drummers ... where 1 guy used to drum like a crazy bastard .... there r 2 idiots playing

  • no no no ... keith moon ... u cannot replace him ... i mean seriously The Who shld quit ... its not the same without THE GOD himself ... please guys ... i mean the guy on the drum was good but not crazy ... he cannot get bombs in his drums ... so whats the point ... it and will always be keith moon RIP

  • that drummer definately did keith moon justice

  • Fucking powerful!! Daltry nailed it!!

  • ohhh i saw this show in RALEIGH NC!

  • this song can only be played with Keith Moon on the drums, not even john bonham (rip) would be able to playe this piece as keith did..

  • wasp done a way better job.

  • whats with the eye patch?

  • @Flerg3 During rehearsals for this show Gary Glitter accidentally hit Roger in the eye with something, his microphone or some such thing.

  • @Flerg3: Gary Glitter was jokingly swinging a microphone during rehearsals and accidently hit Daltrey in the eye. I saw what Daltrey looked like without the patch and it was disgusting. Totally gross. He almost lost his eye.

  • @tomthefunky That explains why he screams doctor! doc-tor! so hard :-)

  • @fontanalu: Ha! They should have changed "Behind Blue Eyes" to "Behind One Eye"; "I Can See For Miles" to "I Can't See Ten Feet In Front Of Me"; "Eyesight To The Blind' to "Eyesight to Blindness";

    That's all I got.

  • I knew John Entwistle was a brilliant bassist but I reckon this song shows exactly how good he was. As others have mentioned it is basically a bass solo throughout. Its also more like a 'Lead Bass Guitar' with a rhythm guitar accompaniment! Awesome!

  • is this original song from the who?

  • @Groove1993 yes

  • @Groove1993 yes indeed

  • @Groove1993??? if you were a who fan you wouldn't ask such a dumb question, and yes it is~~~~~~

  • the best band of the world ^^

  • I know the who is incredible, its been said here plenty of times... but jools holland is a badass too, i can't imagine meeting so many incredible artists in one lifetime.

  • this is what i call rock n roll

  • wtf

  • merman153 Who the fuck are W.A.S. P ? Where the fuck have you been ? How long have you been alive ? Take your blinkers off. The Who ain't the only band on this earth.

  • W.A.S.P do it better

  • @2021962 LOL, so loud and hard!! Sorry mate. Just a unexpected reaction to what you wrote.

Yeah, W.A.S.P. does a very decent job with this song.

We're both oldtimers, or at the very least you're close behind me, having heard much music, and this song in particular for many decades.

But it's hard, (for me) to compare this song done by The Who, to anyone's version of it, with the utmost respect for your comment.

    Peace.

    Rock

  • W.A.S.P's version of this ain't bad :)

  • roger looks like the asshole doctor from 'scrubs'.

  • Yeah, this song is more a showcase of Entwistle's skills than anything, and you hardly see him. lol.

  • Why did they slow the tempo down so much?

  • jesus is that a young jools holland D:

  • what a shit show! eye patch says it all! god bless pete, keith, john, roger has always been a whore!

  • tis not the camera work its the editing.

  • @Sixshotreviews2 I agree. WASP rules!

  • who is at electric lead guitar ?

  • what's with Pete lookin' like a grandpop with the acoustic. Not right...

  • Hahaha....WASP....fuckin sissies

  • Wo the fuck are wasp ?,you fucking arsehole ,This is The Who ,the greatest live band in the world !

  • @merman153

W.A.S.P. are also great, they're one of the greatest Metal Bands in the World and much better than the fucking nu metal!!!!

  • Yes. Yes you are.

  • What the fuck are you going on about you thick cunt!?!

The Who were the ones that did the song originally in the first place.

    YOU TWAT!

  • i was there!

  • yeah and i'm pete townsend

  • was there got ticket to prove it ,line up included alanis morissette and eric clapton how do like them apples!

  • jajajaja great song, n a question is that any of u can see the real me??????R: NOOOOO

  • THEY R THE BEST! AMAZIN

  • meh... no keith :( but still great performance :D

  • RIP Kieth. We miss you.

  • whos on the green gitar

  • thats Jeff Whitehorn..British session player

  • That's Zak.

  • Who's playing drums? Zakk Starkey?

  • Great sound

  • John thunder finger Entwistle !

  • great memories,i was about 10 rows from the front.

  • I'm envious, Armjos!

  • @armjos1 Hei me to!

I was a little more far at the begining of the concert (when Alanis Morissette and Bob Dylan). But after hours and hours of concert I was so close from the stage when The Who (and Eric Clapton later) played. At the end I was exhausted but it was an incredible experience!

  • Did Daltrey loose an eye?

  • Yes dillhole...way to bring it up!

  • Love it - keep on singing ROger!

  • John's playing a rippin bass solo pretty much through this whole song and the camera gives him 5 seconds total at best. Totally F@#*ing lame! But typical.

  • @SunsetJunk fuk yea they always rip john off

  • @SunsetJunk I totally agree with you.And that is frequent. it`s a shame. Much of the Who strenght comes from his bass. At Amazing Journey film John`s mother says she was sad cause her son always appears much less than the others. I think she is right. Maybe that is the real explanation for that odd skeleton suit...

  • great song ...and he dont looks like pete

    hahahah

  • Roger has the eye patch Thanks to Gary Glitter whacking him accidentaly with a mic stand during rehearsals.

  • @bushface1327 Gary Glitter is nothing but a kiddie fucker these days.

  • why roger was using that in the left eye?

  • Saw'em in Philly on this tour!!!!!!!!

  • that was ringo's son zack on the drums right?

  • Yes it was, he still plays drums for the who.

    (The) Korot

  • Geoff Whitehorn on lead guitar

  • Is that Jools Holland announcing The Who to the stage??

  • Yeah it is, and I think he's still wears that suite on his show :)

  • Aha, I knew it!

You just can't miss his voice haha

  • is this on dvd

  • bass way too low in the mix

  • Roger's gotten pretty theatrical now - it's pretty cool.

  • Pete has tenitis. Doctors advise to avoid loud nosies that a concert or amplifier can make thus he went to acoustic.

  • pero que gran diferencia en el sonido de la bateria.... moon era unico!!

  • aun asi me tienes que reconocer que Zak Starkey es MAGNIFICO.

  • Why does Townshend play acoustic guitar on this one, and who is the one playing the electric one?

  • Comment removed

  • Looks like Ozzy haha

  • Pete was still having hearing problems. It took much prompting from Zak Starkey of all people to convince to go electric by 1999 ( although Pete did play some electric for the encores later in the US/Euro Quad Tours ). On electric guitar in this one is Geoff Whitehorn who has done work with Roger and many other bands. When the Quad tour got going in the US he was dumped as the band began to streamline ( which was great because they finally went back to the core set they still employ today)

  • When I saw The Who in 1997, Pete played electric on "The Real Me", "Is It In My Head", "I've Had Enough", "5:15", "Sea and Sand", the second half of "The Rock" and "Love Reign O'er Me". By then the female singers and Jodi Linscott and Geoff Whitehorn were ixnayed.

  • Not that any of the extra musicians didn't serve the purpose...Jodi & Geoff have worked with the Who as well solo projects with both Pete & Rog...There is no comparison between the quality of the 73 Quad shows to the 96-97 shows...it was just a slimmed down version. I hear recently that with the stage revival of Quad that The 'Oo may revive that...a mistake but being a fanatic, I'd end up going to multiple shows....

  • if u mean the one using the green guitar thats eddie van halen

  • thats gary glitter, not ehv

  • One of my favorite songs!

  • fuckin ozzy ozbourne on guitar amazing lol rodger daltrey can still sing like fuck

  • WHAT! Ozzy????? Where :P And since when....... I love Rodger's eye patch! Unlucky that he got hit in the eye with a mic stand...

  • Oh is that why he wears it? Hmm poor guy ;-)

  • Ahh yep. I see "him" now.....

  • i does look abit like him though

  • Too slow, I like the speed of the original.

  • the who are the fucking best band in the fucking world!

  • I love The Who, but why is Roger wearing Freddy Mercurys T-shirt?

  • Check out W.A.S.P.s version of this song. Cant beat an original but their version aint bad.

  • It was produced by Pete Townsend and to be honest (as a Who fan) it was pretty damn good!!

  • The bass player rips killer solos throughout, but god forbid giving him a close-up

  • Search out "The John Entwistle Band - The Real Me" and you'll see the master at work! Being his band he gets the majority of the focus, and deservedly so... this song is a 5 minute ripping bass solo!

  • basses dont get enough recognition in bands for me, its always a close up of the big loud guitar!

  • Too true! And why would you give any screen time to the Hair Pie guitarist who isn't even in the band? This is Entwhistles song all the way!

  • THE WHO ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This group is playing the Budoakn in Japan.

  • the film is well good

  • This song rules! Best band ever! Long live the Who!

  • Pete was innocent. No further charges were made nor material confiscated. There's a difference between credit card details being found on a website and thousands of pictures downloaded. Gary is a paedo, Pete isn't.

  • benefit of the doubt my ass, he IS innocent completely, and if you were a real Who fan, you would be able to figure that out. They have tried SOOOO hard to make it clear, especially Daltrey, and they even talk about it in their documentary about themselves. There are even press releases where the press apologise, so.

  • reply to gantock (5 months ago)

depends how you define "innocent". Glitter was guilty of pursuing his desires.

    Pete is guilty of conceit.

A conceit that drove him to be the best guitarist in the best rock band in the world, to kick Abbie Hoffman off stage, to bear his soul about his alcohol and drug problems. I have loved that conceit. But to think that it is more important for a rock star to know what kiddie porn looks like than to consider what his money will promote is mch less forgivable

  • Roger's eyepatch was the result of an accident during the soundcheck the previous day involving Gary Glitter (who was playing the Godfather at this show) and a mic stand. As I recall there was some doubt as to whether the gig would be able to go ahead. It was an incredible day in the end though.

  • the who best band ever and john entwistle best rock bass player ever

  • cool eyepatch - johnny kidd and the pirates, inspired. great vocals.

  • watch the WASP cover of this song, it rox!!!

I still like the who version though, because it is a rockin original.

  • I hated the who when they toured with thees extra phones! It was better in the 60's and 70's with keith, john, pete, and roger with no others!

  • That's the truth man. They definitely aren't the same anymore(or as good). They were never the same after Keith died.

  • Roger is wearing Moons necklace worn originally at Woodstock. Nice touch.

  • How'd you know that?

  • this song rocks like rockin roll

  • Like a one eyed cat...peeking in the seafood store....long live rock!!!

  • Thank you

    aguante The Who!!!

  • I WAS THERE!!!

    17.000 PESETAS BARCELONA-LONDON FLIGHT(100EUR)

Sleeping inside a car for three days.

Dirty and hard, but I saw Roger Daltrey,Pete Townshennd and John Entwistle and I had loads of fun Yeah!!!

    THE WHO IS THE GREATEST!

  • why is it so slow???i miss moon

  • ya ik srsly im 14 and i can handle the regular tempo of this song i wish they could

  • Where was this concert???...what city please!

    viva the who!

  • London, Hide Park, summer of 1996.

  • Keith Moon is the best drummer...

  • keith was mad as a hatter

  • Where can I get the rest of the video?

  • it's Gary Moore. I was at that gig. Fucking excellent!!

    WE ARE THE MODS!

  • I think you'll find the ugly guitarist is actually Geoff whitehorn, and the other guy is simon townsend (petes little brother)

  • Who's the bloke on the Electric Guitar, And why the hell ain't Pete on it. For God sake The Who isn't the The Who with out Pete.

Come to think about it The Who isn't the Who without any of it's members...... There all amazing

  • in the green guitar is "Eddie Van Halen" ... Gary Moore was on volcals in van halen...

  • amazing song.

u have to admit, its not as fast without keith. he was the one driving this song. and most of the the whos songs.

    bass is incredible btw

  • I'm big fan of The Who and Keith Moon is one of the reasons. It is impossible to predict what he is going to do in next secound, he was playing like he himself didn't knew that and that's why i don't get bored while listening to them, 5 concerts 5 different versions, mainly because of Keith ;)

zak is really good i must say, definitely the best follower and i my opinion great, but still follower.

  • The elec gtr is not quite up to snuff...its not just a matter of playing the right chords I'm afraid.

  • i love madmen. the bloody ooo!

  • Zak Starkey is good but you have to admit he can't replace Keith totally, no one can. His drumming definitely was great though in this video.

  • Who is that Jockey at the start??

  • Jules Holland. He was the original keyboardist for SQUEEZE and is an accomplished Jazz Pianist. He has interviewed Pete several times since 1982. He also has a music variety show on the BBC "later with Jules Holland".

  • jules is the man

  • HAH knew I recognised him,

did he hop on the keys at any point?? :/ Hope so.

  • yh i agree. Roger does sound rele gd here.

  • Roger sounds the same as he did then now

  • Entwistle is God. Zak is a fantastic drummer,

I was there, great day out.

  • I was there, too. This was an amazing show. The Who were the most memorable and this was the first time I'd heard any of the songs from Quadrophenia. What an introduction.

  • warm jet, he not a fake keith moon, he's Zak Starkey. Son of ringo star, and a very good drummer.

  • Who's the fake Keith back there?

  • what's with the eyepatch?
