@St112103 orly... Remember what i said, or your arms will bend to a 90 degrees position and you won't be able to extend your arms completely. If your actually taking me seriously then remember to stretch your arms... i'm deadly serious. You'll fuck up your body if you don't take care of it.
these guys and girls are amazing!!! i don't expect to make it as far as they are, but i'm not gonna stop training as hard as i can and seeing where it'll take me
the other countries actually support weightlifting. Our people basically have to do it part time while studying or even while working.
If weightlifting gained more acclaim in the US we might get more people focusing on it the way we do the other oly sports. But as it is now? Its not worth it for most people; those with the strength level to make it will instead choose the NFL or some other strength sport if they want to devote their lives to athletics.
Although I'm not american I fully agree. The athletic abilities you have to posses to be a good weightlifter are enormous. So if a kid has these abilities it will most of the time choose another sport that actually can earn him/her enough money in the future (and who does mind it). Its basically the same here in Germany. Talented kids are drawn to the more popular sports. If there were enough money in the game (like in Football, Basketball, Ice hockey) things would get better.
@SpinningKick flexibility is just as important.,without good training, people can end up with huge muscles that literally bend the arms at the joints...
these are kids?

I didn't know world class 69k lifters clean and jerk 210k. Before you dog on American lifters, count the weight on the bar. Thanks.
