Lara holds the world record of scoring most runs in a single over (28 runs). He is one of six batsmen to make a century before lunch. He has scored the most runs (351) on a losing side in a Test. He was the fastest batsmen to score 10,000 (with Sachin Tendulkar) and 11,000 Test runs in terms of number of innings. He was the all-time leading run scorer in Test cricket a record he attained until surpassed by Sachin Tendulkar after he retired. Sachin is 4 yrs younger than Lara so work it out nigga!

Whenever he entered in a stadium, everything just seemed to bow itself infront of this fabolous cricket star. Always full of confidence he was, if you watch this video keenly you'd witness that he miss timed 4 deliveries only while scoring 400 runs.

I still remember, I was on my honeymoon when Brian Charles Lara was batting on 36. My wife entered the room and asked if we were going out to have lunch and I without noticing said that, dont disturb me for next 2-3 days, Lara is going to score 400!

Brian Lara is a great batsman, so is Tendulkar, no doubt. Tendulkar get more career runs, Lara gets more innings runs. Lara is the only one to get 400 in international cricket and is the only one to get 500 in first-class cricket. Tendulkar has the most runs in international test and ODI's. So everyone who says one is better than the other, these two can only sum up to "Their both great batsman"

Brian Lara is heads and shoulders above Sachin Tendulkar in any book. Please go through the stats on both the players and you will get to know. Brian Lara scored 11000 Test runs in much fewer innings than Sachin Tendulkar. If you take out the 'not-out' factor from their innings (Tendulkar has more than 20 and Lara has only 6) then Brian Lara's average is greater than Sachin Tendulkar. So average wise Lara is better.

On the other hand, strike rate wise Lara is above Tendulkar by all means.

Lara was way more entertaining than tendulkar is. Sure tendulkar has a higher average, but he played in a stronger team than lara. There was more pressure on lara because he captained his country in more games than tendulkar and he usually had a weaker batting line up.

ok guys. even cricinfo says that lara was the most pehnomenal in accumalating runs since bradman.....lara accounted for 32% of his teams ouput, which is 2nd to only Sir Don and Sir Headley!...besides....ponting did not face arne mcgrath, the west indian battery as well as the Pakistani battery......Ponting averaged high only after year 2000!

Sachin tendulkar would have to be the greatest in this day an age..you cannot rate lara that high.For example when he bats he falls on his technique to much espicially agaist spin. Tendulkar duz not hes perfect.And when lara isnt scoreing hundreds hes always very low scores so hes consistant in either high or low but he cannot perform all the time. Tendulka can

yeah like 365 or a 400*, or the most runs in an over in Test Cricket, or the most double centuries, or having to break a record, lose it and break it back. When Lara retired he had scored the most runs in Test match history at that point. Lara is more entertaining and has more shots than Tendulkar!
