As for A. Jones and Mr. Henery what they do when they leave our school is on them, not us. While they were at WVU, no problem. I'm from the Charleston area and I know Randy's past. His college time line: ND kicked off the team, FSU same thing. Marshall some trouble but he seemed to have grown up (some). Truth is I think he went to a new low last year and is ready to return to his old self (on the field).

Whether you like it or not, history comes into play in selecting a team for bowls/championships. In this ridiculous system of Div 1 college football, history plays a role. I keep bringing up ND. ND has history, so they are going to get a bowl bid over WVU who has 2 years...like it or hate it, that is the system...people selecting...not teams playing it out in a playoff...who knows what would happen then.

And people like HerdDrummer123 have to tell you (over and over) that 1. No claim has been made of Marshall being good this year and 2. This is a response to a video talking $hit about our band. Larger number usually equals higher percentages. Obviously you know nothing about statistics. Our apllication count is higher (for obvious reasons) and therfore we have a larger sample pool; a larger sample pool will usually show a higher percentage. Its like the percentages from an exam with 5 questions Vs. 50. Guess you never learned that

That's where you are wrong. I can't say that WVU will win a national title in the future, but I can say that the BE is becoming one of the better conferences in the BCS (yes we are a BCS conference). If things keep progressing with South Florida, Rutgers, UL, and WVU, the BCS will reach a point where an undefeated BE team will be chosen for the nat. title game over any other 1 loss team.

If you look at the quality programs of Notre Dame, Penn State, USC, Alabama, OSU, Michigan...they have been consistently good for many years. In my opinion, and it is strictly that...History makes you good. A team may have down years (Penn State did for about 4,) but they are on their way back. Winning is expected from these programs. WVU hasn't been winning as long as these programs so now that they are, all the "fans" are "coming out of the closet."

Fans coming out of the closet? WVU has had only two years of few than 52k since 98. Marshall can barely bring in 52k in two games if the stadium is sold out, but I guess then the whispers would drown out the band.
If WVU was such a good team, then they could have played through the injury. Penn State played through the Michigan game with their 3rd string and only lost by 7. At that time Michigan was at their peak.

I love how WVU people always have an excuse for everything (it was turf toe that caused the loss, it was this, it was that. You didn't play well in either game, nor did you play well in the Rutgers or Pitt game. You played well enough in the second half against Pitt and with Rutgers you got lucky that the reciever dropped the game winning touchdown at the end of the 4th Q. And you played absolutely horrible at the bowl game, But congrats, you won 3 out of 5 of those "sub-par" performance...
If you actually read my post, I gave credit to USF. Ah yes, the "you got lucky, what if this happened game". Guess what? It didn't happen. We played well enough. I know this is a difficult concept, but not every team brings the A game* every Saturday.
The comment about the Big East is when you were in it and when whatever team was in it as well...as in Penn State when they were there, VT, BC...etc. No, upsets are easy to understand...and Notre Dame is a good team because they have history. PSU was never in the BE dumbass. Even if you take that into account, WVU is 68-41 in the BE since they joined. "You have a combined losing record to Big East teams". Good one. Having a good program isn't the same thing as having a good team. If a program dictated a team every year, Notre Dame would win the NC every year.
You will beat Marshall. You will beat your weak schedule (as you said, you wish you would play more difficult teams.) But then again, you might lose to those more difficult teams, so maybe your schedule is perfect; play teams like E. Washington and Marshall, beat the teams you are supposed to, but then lose to teams that are decent, such as Louisville and S. Florida.

Sure you can talk about the last couple of years, but if you look closely you will realize, numbers don't lie.
Marshall may look better in a few areas on paper, but it's on the field that counts. Until recently, Marshall was in the MAC. No wonder they won so many games, while WVU was busying playing real teams like Penn State, BC, VT, Miami (Fla.), Pitt, and Maryland (yeah, they were good back then) every year. Until Marshall beats WVU in a football game (yeah, right), you guys don't have too much room to talk. Those three Heisman finalists never beat West Virginia.

Actually, I don't think you played Penn State in the years that Marshall has been in IA (in fact, you haven't played them since 1992 which you lost 40-26 since you like numbers)...against PSU you are 9-48, against Miami 3-16, against Pitt...37-59. And your bowl record is an amazing 10-15 dating back to 1922. Posting no bowl victories from 1987-1998. As for A. Jones and Mr. Henery what they do when they leave our school is on them, not us. While they were at WVU, no problem. I'm from the Charleston area and I know Randy's past. His college time line: ND kicked off the team, FSU same thing. Marshall some trouble but he seemed to have grown up (some). Truth is I think he went to a new low last year and is ready to return to his old self (on the field).

Whether you like it or not, history comes into play in selecting a team for bowls/championships. In this ridiculous system of Div 1 college football, history plays a role. I keep bringing up ND. ND has history, so they are going to get a bowl bid over WVU who has 2 years...like it or hate it, that is the system...people selecting...not teams playing it out in a playoff...who knows what would happen then.

Maybe people say things about you band because your band isn't very good... If you expect every single poster to go through and read through 8+ pages of comments, then maybe your standards are a little high. Sort of ironic when you consider the standards at Moo High.

And another thing that cracks me up every time is the "assumption" of wvu people that wvu's level of education is superior to that of Marshall. But the funny thing is, they never have any reasoning behind this. Going to a school with a good football team won't do $hit for you on a job application. Don't get me wrong, I think both offer a great education, but you do realize that WVU accepts a higher percentage of applicants than Marshall don't you?

Larger number usually equals higher percentages. Obviously you know nothing about statistics. Our apllication count is higher (for obvious reasons) and therfore we have a larger sample pool; a larger sample pool will usually show a higher percentage. Its like the percentages from an exam with 5 questions Vs. 50. Guess you never learned that

Both schools are in the top 30 or so in the country in percentages accepted. So basically, they're pretty even! It's freakin WEST VIRGINIA, anyone who's not a dumbass could get into either school. That's why on an academic level, they are very close.

I think I have succeeded in this video post. All the WVU people coming out of the closet to prove that they have a good team...well, you haven't won a championship and you aren't going to win one. With the stupid BCS, your out of conference and in conference schedule will keep WVU out of the NC. Good luck in the future.

That's where you are wrong. I can't say that WVU will win a national title in the future, but I can say that the BE is becoming one of the better conferences in the BCS (yes we are a BCS conference). If things keep progressing with South Florida, Rutgers, UL, and WVU, the BCS will reach a point where an undefeated BE team will be chosen for the nat. title game over any other 1 loss team.

If you look at the quality programs of Notre Dame, Penn State, USC, Alabama, OSU, Michigan...they have been consistently good for many years. In my opinion, and it is strictly that...History makes you good. A team may have down years (Penn State did for about 4,) but they are on their way back. Winning is expected from these programs. WVU hasn't been winning as long as these programs so now that they are, all the "fans" are "coming out of the closet."

That's an interesting point of view. Are we talking about good teams or elite teams. First of all, you seem to think that the "program" is interchangable with "team". They are two different entities. Fans coming out of the closet? WVU has had only two years of few than 52k since 98. Marshall can barely bring in 52k in two games if the stadium is sold out, but I guess then the whispers would drown out the band.

If WVU was such a good team, then they could have played through the injury. Penn State played through the Michigan game with their 3rd string and only lost by 7. At that time Michigan was at their peak.

I love how WVU people always have an excuse for everything (it was turf toe that caused the loss, it was this, it was that. You didn't play well in either game, nor did you play well in the Rutgers or Pitt game. You played well enough in the second half against Pitt and with Rutgers you got lucky that the reciever dropped the game winning touchdown at the end of the 4th Q. And you played absolutely horrible at the bowl game, But congrats, you won 3 out of 5 of those "sub-par" performance...

If you actually read my post, I gave credit to USF. Ah yes, the "you got lucky, what if this happened game". Guess what? It didn't happen. We played well enough. I know this is a difficult concept, but not every team brings the A game* every Saturday.

The comment about the Big East is when you were in it and when whatever team was in it as well...as in Penn State when they were there, VT, BC...etc. No, upsets are easy to understand...and Notre Dame is a good team because they have history. WVU has 2 years...give me 30, 40, 50 years of this type of play, then I will give you credit. Do you consider Rutgers a good team, they have been pretty good the past 2 years...

PSU was never in the BE dumbass. Even if you take that into account, WVU is 68-41 in the BE since they joined. "You have a combined losing record to Big East teams". Good one. Having a good program isn't the same thing as having a good team. If a program dictated a team every year, Notre Dame would win the NC every year.

You will beat Marshall. You will beat your weak schedule (as you said, you wish you would play more difficult teams.) But then again, you might lose to those more difficult teams, so maybe your schedule is perfect; play teams like E. Washington and Marshall, beat the teams you are supposed to, but then lose to teams that are decent, such as Louisville and S. Florida.

WVU has a phenominal record of 11-15 in bowl games, losing 8 straight from the years 1987-1998. You have a combined losing record to Big East teams and only 6 seasons where you have 10+ wins. You just don't seem to get it do you? Whine all you like. How can you just scoff at a season like the 1998 one? Or the 1993 season? You guys can't even have a winning season in C-USA. Talk all you like about I-AA stuff, its just that, Div. 1-AA. I'm not saying WVU is the greatest football team ever. We're making big improvements and we've won some tough games over some tough opponents.

I will agree that WVU has made improvements, but you still have a long way to go to say that you are are a powerhouse. You may not have said it, but most WVU people would say, we are a national powerhouse. The past 2 years have not defined WVU football. Keep that stuff up for 20-30 years and then you can talk, but until then...I think WVU is still a mediocre, middle of the road team.

This is the problem. Quit lumping all WVU fans together. Not everyone thought WVU would make it to the BCS championship this year. Anyone who did, well that was wishful thinking. Louisville is a bad ass team. However, WVU is making huge progress, so are other teams in the Big East, like Louisville, USF and Rutgers. Bottom line, I just can't wrap my mind around this kind of BS trash talking. Oh, 1989 Fiesta Bowl vs. Notre Dame.

That wasn't an official national championship game...hince the adoption of the BCS. So as this was a nice attempt to think you had a shot, you lost that game 34-21...hardly seemed close to me. Even if you would have won, Miami would have (and did according to the two polls that mattered then [AP and USA Today/CNN]) had the national championship.

Marshall may look better in a few areas on paper, but it's on the field that counts. Until recently, Marshall was in the MAC. No wonder they won so many games, while WVU was busying playing real teams like Penn State, BC, VT, Miami (Fla.), Pitt, and Maryland (yeah, they were good back then) every year. Until Marshall beats WVU in a football game (yeah, right), you guys don't have too much room to talk. Those three Heisman finalists never beat West Virginia.

You can argue that we didn't beat "real teams" (even though we've beat SCU, Louisville twice, clemson, Kstate(top 10 team), and cincinnati), but you can't really use your argument because they didn't do too hot against those "real teams." Actually, I don't think you played Penn State in the years that Marshall has been in IA (in fact, you haven't played them since 1992 which you lost 40-26 since you like numbers)...against PSU you are 9-48, against Miami 3-16, against Pitt...37-59. And your bowl record is an amazing 10-15 dating back to 1922. Posting no bowl victories from 1987-1998. Good job trying to make WVU look good, but face it, the last 2 years have not defined WVU football.

That beating at ECU felt pretty good, considering this year they put a plaque up at their school and had a ceremony to honor the victims of the plane crash, since we played them the night it happened. I'm thrilled to be beat by a team that has an ounce of class.

Second, I would make a video picking apart highlights of Marshall if they actually covered them on national TV, not just on the local Cuntington station.
I'm not going to sit here and try to make excuses. We lost, plain and simple. That's what happens when you lose 3 fumbles and kick a punt to the opposite side of the field than where your coverage is.
