This video really does confirm Pittsburgh's status as the 2nd hilliest city in America, after San Francisco...especially at the very end, with that breathtaking view, looking down toward the western parts of Pittsburgh. Interesting; I never knew Pittsburgh had an HOV facility, outside of I-279. Thanks for showing off the "back way" to Mt. Washington, since I've never even been thru the Liberty Tunnel before.
Did you ever get a chance to ride US 19 Truck northbound and merge onto Interstate 376? That's probably one of the most interesting (and confusing) interchanges in existence.
Pittsburgh is a wonderful city. You have your good areas as well as bad areas like any other city but we are different, we have confusing roadways and amazing scenery. The best part about it all is I get to enjoy it all 365 days a year :)
Man, my memories of going to the top of Mount Washington are flooding back, after seeing your vid. Nice to see what the rest of the neighborhood up there looked like, I only saw a few blocks around the top of that incline, then came back down.
I wish on that vacation, I could've checked out the Oakland neighborhood, and the University of Pittsburgh campus. One day, I'll finally do so.....
I love the street tours! Perfect city to do one for too. Definitely one of the worlds most interesting cities. Imagine how great it would be to be a civil engineer for this town! Thumbs way up!
Jim, I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this awesome production of yours! I absolutely love videos like this that showcase a variety of road scenes and neighborhoods within a city. I wish more road filmers would do videos like this one, since (I think we can both agree on this) this is the only way you truly get to know about a city rather than zipping through it on the interstate. Favorited without a doubt!
@CosmoPhotography Thanks, videos like these can be a lot of fun to make, I approach them differently than the standard freeway videos. And you are definitely right, you do find out more about a city this way. Glad you enjoyed it!
super groovy music and great depiction of PIttsburgh, the modern with the beauty of the old architecture gives this town such charm and warmth, even when it's colder than......cold! Something about the carved stone on the sides of the roads well, just a beautiful place - when I was a kid I could not wait to be able to drive through the Pennsylvania Tunnels!
@0marigolds Thanks you, I agree on the carved stone, I'm also a fan of the old metal railings/guardrails along the roads too and there is plenty of it in that city, and tunnels are definitely cool!
I have been on a few of those roads before a Pirates game once and I agree, nice VIEWS. Wow. I may be a Browns fan but Pittsburgh has awesome views and a beautiful city. Wow. Dude, I love your vids and I am glad I am not the only freeway/highway nut out there! For years I thought I was alone in that interest lol. Have an awesome day!
@gladef Thanks, I really appreciate that with regards to Satriani, I've been a fan since 1988 when I first heard him in a record store (remember those?).
Pictures don't do the view any justice...it's just spectacular in person. And Woodruff is usually plowed when it snows, so it's not horrible. The side streets, however, get VERY interesting...I helped push many stuck cars back in the day (you know, the rear wheel drive 1970s boats that did NOTHING in snow.) I grew up on Mt. Washington and know almost all the streets you recorded because I walked them a lot. Your videos rock, keep 'em coming!
When in Pittsburgh, or western PA for that matter, you have to get gas at Sheetz! Coolest gas station ever!

@onorebakasama I've been that way before several times, a very odd interchange indeed.
