This song.. literally made me tear, the instruments to it and everything was so simply stunning and beautiful. In a way it leads to a heart break and thoughts about history of hurt, suffering, sorrow, and reminiscence in the world. This song should be cherished in a way..not hated. This song makes my heart come out, i spiritually bleed for this song.
to compare this to the original is like comparing frosted flakes to corn flakes. i mean U2 sang the song powerful and 'in battle' like 'you bastards should be ashamed' sound. Colins version is more of a reminiscence kind of 'in memory / rest in peice', not a mockery. i like both and respect both.
@mtpersz I prefer this over the original, Different views I guess, much more calm and serene which is more appropriate for the event sung about please it really does fit the song more. Plus it makes more sense to make cover that is entirely different from the original.
this song has a lot of meaning and i believe that his version didnt take away from the feeling that people should get from it.
