  • Going through a contraflow in roadworks like that would have a width restriction of 6' 6" .... a class 1 lorry is more than that i can assure you

  • I think that sign applies to the main cariageway not the contraflow lane. But how did he get into that contraflow lane? He must have been in lane 3 before the contraflow! So he is in the wrong lane.

  • At 18 seconds look at the road sign - he is in the correct lane

  • are you people thick??? he's driving in a contraflow lane!!! any vehicle is allowed to drive in a contraflow lane''''fuck me dont people read signs within roadworks?????..

  • @cockerius Not in this case. There were signs limiting width of vehicles in that contraflow lane

  • @catman2007 ...yes which is 3.2 meters thats more than enough for a normal truck ...its industry standard that a contraflow lane has 2 be that big!!!! oh im not some idiot by the way lol...i set up contraflows all the time

  • @cockerius Fair enough...so I now know who to blame!

  • @catman2007 lol sorry

  • @catman2007 If you stop it at 0:06 you can clearly see the yellow line saying "Get in line" without any width restrictions. So im afraid your either mistaken or your lying one of the two.

  • @cockerius 90% of UK roadworks that have a contraflow lane are reduced to a limited width to encourage cars only to use them and reduce traffic for larger vehicles that are using the remaining lanes on the correct side of the carriageway.

  • Marvellous the Royal Mail are putting their customers 1st and getting mail delivered as quick as possible whatever the cost .

  • rm only employ ex formula one drivers

  • So what???

Everyone pls get off royal mails back as the do a brilliant job!

  • the quicker that lorry gets to the deopt the quicker we get our post

  • If it was any other company, I'd say "so what?" but the RM tends to employ grunting thickos who share a communal brain cell, so he should be reported. worst of all are the RM 7.5 tonner drivers.

  • @mrspivvy

I would not go as far as saying that, but in the interests of 'free speech' I will let you post this comment.

  • @mrspivvy Actually because there were roadworks there the constructers probably set up a 'get in lane' system where a certain type of vehicle has to be in a certain lane during contraflows/roadworks for health and safety.

  • Who gives a shit, at least the post will be on time

  • I have nothing against the Royal Mail, although the sooner it is privatised the better, or it will lose out to competition from UK Mail, DHL and UPS.

There was a sign at the start of the lanes dividing banning HGV from the outside lane. The sign referred to here is for the left section only.

  • @catman2007 if it gets privatised itll get fucked

  • @catman2007 The sooner it's privatised the better? The postal market has already been privatised. The quality of service has gone down the pan as a result. All that's left to do is for the government to sell Royal Mail off but none wants to buy it because it's not possible to make a profit while maintaining the USO.

  • there'sno stopping the pony express , they alway's get through

  • so he might of got it wrong and dint know what lane to choose with out knowing , you know you are braking the law by filming it

in my book thats lack of due care n attention

  • @britdemo In what way is a passenger on a National Express coach breaking the law in filming through the windows?

  • @catman2007 i would like to know how that was against the law as well

  • pointless video

  • I have to disagree. Just look at the reaction to the video from all the comments made. A VERY worthwhile video illustrating the driver acting illegally.

  • @catman2007 that's still OK.. Here they swerve right and left like nobody's business

  • thats why there's barrier between you and the hgv because your on a slip road!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I see what you are thinking, but this was during the widening between J6 and J10. Southbound the motorway was split, with the two left lanes separated from the fast lane, which is why there is a barrier between the lanes. The royal mail lorry was in the third lane, which is banned to lorries and coaches.

  • What fast lane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The outside lane that is banned to lorries, buses, and Royal Mail vans!

  • Prob a manager driving if its in the middle of the dispute!

  • this truck is in road works which is incidentally a 2 lane road, being 1 lane is coned off he is permitted to use that lane by law.

  • Royal mail goes that little bit further to deliver your mail

  • Hope you weren't driving whist your were videoing this.

  • I was a passenger on National Express.

  • i'll be sticking to couriers from now on and nothing relating to royal mail.

in fact, they ought to have the name 'Royal' taken away.

    shite company, low standards

  • what courier will take a letter from one end of the country to the other for 39p, let me know

  • unprofessional company.

I'm only getting mail now 3 times a week if i'm lucky. They deliver to my block when they want too and theres 7 flats where I llive but wait until they have a stack to bother to deliver.

In the last year the delivery times and frequency has deteriorated badly.

I can appreciate a laugh at work but it's plain to see by this and the lack of care in delivering on time and when they have my post is down to managers not managing

  • I actually doubt your claims sir/madam regarding the "3 times a week if I'm lucky" does it occur to you you might not actually get any post some days? Do the flats where you live have access all the time or is there perhaps a security code for access to them, a time lock maybe? Quite often flats don't allow access to the public at all or at some periods of the day and therefore access not available.

  • He went even in the 3rd lane there were road works with forced him to go in to single line traffic so all car bikes hgv trucks will all be in 1 lane it dosent mater if it is 1 2 3 land

  • I would agree except there were width restrictions in place on that lane, which meant that lorries and other wide vehicles were not allowed in it.

  • And you think filming while driving is perfectly legal too?? LOL!

  • I am travelling as a passenger on a National Express coach.

  • You would all complain when your f**king amazon wasn't there on time or dole money. I worked the strikes & was a pro driver. Though now have a new job cause all the long term staff think they get all the benifits and bugger the young ones.

  • He should not have been driving in the third lane of the motorway. It is illegal.

  • No, he is a ROYAL MAIL driver. Nothing professional about them. Never has been, and never will be.

  • lol that isnt the "fast" lane just because there are 3 lanes. There are arrows pointing in the opposite direction (0:12). Its simply for roadworks where the speed is usually reduced to 50mph. If you pause it correctly at 0:18 the sign says "get in lane" the 2 arrows on the right were for the M1 and do not show a weight or vehicle limitation. He is not in the wrong.

  • Interesting observation. To carry on into that lane the driver had to have been in the outside lane in the first place, from where he is banned. Hence my comments in the first place.

I was on a National Express service a few days ago that did the same thing, but other drivers have said that they could be stopped if they did that.

  • The sign at 0.18 does not show anything to do with the lane shown in the video, which is single and follows on from the overtaking laner earlier. There is a width restriction in that lane through the works, but I don't know if there is a weight limit.

  • aye not all agency drivers are eastern european, i work for a agencey and royal mail, And i am ENGLISH but yes poo driving though

  • i am a royal mail driver. and when we were on strike, the only drivers who crossed the picket line were managers and eastern european agency drivers. so i rest my case.

  • You Grass

  • Geez ppl, its The Royal Mail! The Queen waits for nothing, lol.

  • How is that driving in the fast lane?? Looks like he is driving through a contraflow, which means the roadworks took him into the fast lane, idiots

  • Yes, it is the fast, outside lane on a three lane southbound motorway, open to cars only! It is on the M1 between junctions 10 and 6, which is being widened.

  • Maybe he made a mistake, anyone can make a mistake, who to say he deliberately drove in that lane?

  • Drivers who use motorways are expected to know the law. Ignorance or error is no excuse. Large vehicles are not allowed in the outside lane on three lane motorways.

  • For starters its not a proper 3 lane motorway is it? A Contraflow is in operation, so there are speed restrictions in place with digital speed camera's. You don't know the circumstances so who are you to judge? Plus it's Royal Mail, they have privileges.

  • just to add to the debate, that lane also has a width restriction, so its obviously not a professional hgv driver

  • you need to get a life mate honestly

  • probably a scab manager then. wouldnt suprise me

  • well obviously a scab. and itd have to be a manager coz the drivers have more sense than to scab
