J'aime bien votre interprétation du "Bransle du Chandelier"... mais pourquoi en avez-vous retiré la partie lente, au moment où les couples échangent le chandelier?
I like your interpretation of "Bransle du Chandelier"(candlestick dance) but why did you take off the slow part, where the couples are supposed to exchange the candlestick ?
With the way they were dressed they would have all been royalty or high nobles, I would like to see how the peaseants would have dressed and danced as well as there choice in music but it seems as if that is lost to history with how little you can find
hmm I just think every country has its glory in one type of Music; Italy -Renaissance; Germany & Austria- Classical, etc... I honestly wonder if cavemen had forms of music, and how did they sound like ? If they did, I still bet it`s better than modern pop haha
This is a delightful presentation. It would be great to see a full hour documentary on PBS on your work - I bet it would do much to popularize this genre. I guarantee that a thousand years from now people will still say this is a beautiful art form!
Is there a site to know if the renaicense dances and music like these the dances was coreographiated o pre danced?, because I can´t imagine all the courts partys with coreographies i think they was some dances coreographiated and somes inprovised
-- When teaching "Romeo and Juliet" and trying to explain the importance of dance in Renaissance society (and the play), I showed my students some of this video. It made the whole dance sequence in the Zeffirelli film a lot more relevant (despite the film's deviations from Shakespeare's play)... Thanks so much for uploading^^
Yeah, people dressed in clothes that have probably been washed in a washing machine within the past week, probably took a shower the very same day they perform standing around with film cameras avoiding petty bickering gather around and think they are being "authentic".
Sorry, but picking only the great parts of the past while ignoring the problems (witch hunts) is not "genuine" or "authentic". I like renaissance music because it speaks to ME in the 21st century.
Beutiful music! When I was in the Czech Republic six years ago, I was blessed to hear such nice music like this along with the Renaissance dance complete with weapons! :-D
With love from a Free Vietnamese living in America
How lovely! The Cortesia ensemble capture the atmosphere of the Renaissance fabulously. The music is beautifully played too. I wish I could dance like that! Congratulations on an excellent work.
I remember when my great great great grandfather in year 1786 all of his life is wriiten in his notes so anyone can read his stroy he said when he was fighting those spanish scoundrels he said Come my fellow noble men all is lost! Retreat! retreat!! he always fight the spanish just to save his tribe in philippines and he was the father of our first martial arts eskrima
i have to play this song on my recorder for our spring concert. :( it is hard...

Beautiful dancing and costumes; but what of the hair? :-) It seems a pity to be so thorough in every respect and neglect the hair. But I truly enjoyed the video. Wonderful!!!
@mxylpx this is the equivalent of what modern music is now but back then because thats what the current trend is, and around renaissance times this would be considered modern, and although you may find it boring every style of music takes influence from every other style somewhere down the line so it is only so different because it has evolved for so long, the same way we arnt like monkeys if you get what i mean
@mxylpx How bout this? Rock and most pop is good like Michael Jackson but any of the new music now a days is complete crap... well most of it few that are good! <3 this thou
I much enjoyed the free ornamentation/variations the flutes brought in when repeating the parts of the melody. It shows that they have dealt a lot with practicing ancient music. Bravo!
