    You *could* calculate everything and ensure safety by monitoring the colour of glow(or using an IR thermometer) and regularly inspect the engine for wear(if it was to be actually used). Or you could guesstimate everything to be on the safe side.

    Or, alternatively, you don't know. Then again, my guess is that a little pulsejet is unlikely to "blow up" very violently, and it would probably be just lame if it failed while running. Given you're smart enough to close the fuel valve.
