But to clarify, isn't the Groupe d'Intervention de Gendarmerie Nationale a bit like the GSG9 or the Finnish Karhu team in that they are a part of the national police or border guard and as such may only operate inside the nation's borders?

Muslim extremists mostly originate from the Middle East, however, most Muslims in France originate from Northern Africa (Algeria, etc...), and those areas are known to hold more peaceful types of Muslims.

The TFUE (sort of the european constitution) mention almost explictely that the eu financial interests is more important than the people of the countries. For examples, the eu authorize up to10% of motor oil in the cooking oil.
