Larry...great post, almost forgot about this great song by Gogi Grant, I feel this was her best, and thats 73 years of loving our music Dave....Boston
I was a kid when this song was on the radio and remembered the tune and some of the words all my life-I'm 63 now. The garbage that is called 'music' now will not be in people's memories 50+ years . Thanks for this song.
Her other big hit! I would liken her voice to that of Jo Staffords with her pitch and breath control. She truly is a beautiful and talented singer. She right up there with the very best America has to offer.
Great song. One of my earliest memories is of my mum singing this song in the lounge room. She was always singing around the house. Brings back lovely memories. Thanks.
boy: gogi grant, eileen rodgers, gale storm, doris day, dinah washington, sarah vaughn, timi yuro, jo stafford and the list goes on and on and each one was instantly recognized for their own interputation of a song. today all sound the same.........and thats sad because there is talent out there.
@emb1st ....I like your list but you did leave off Tony Fisher and her song "The Big Hurt".... you didn't forget Yimi Yuro though.....we are pretty much on the same page.....how cool is that......I love those women, they were so great.....
@MrWeedpatch....I would also lie to add Kay Starr and her 'Rock and Roll Waltz'. I really believe that the woman who deserves to be on this list is Edith Piaffe one of the greatest international female singers of all time. So many but I still love Gogi and Timi and Tony.............
My mother used to sing this one to me when I was three or four. She would sing often. I inherited her record collection a few years back. I always felt/feel exceptionally moved for this one. It stirs up all the sincere emotions of courageous devotion she was as my mother and as a loving wife to my father.
Thank you so much for uploading this. She was an angel on earth.
So beautifully put LittleAddiePray. This brings me back memories of my late Dad and how I miss him. He'd remember hearing this song when he came back from service in Korea in the Fifties. Great music and sad memories
This is such a great song. It almost brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it -- and sometimes it actually does bring tears to my eyes. Gogi really "hit her stride" with this one in late 1955, and she went all the way to No. 1 with "The Wayward Wind" the following summer.
Larry, this video has touched so many people I am sure. I have sent this to many friends and they too really love it. Your pictures are wonderful and so perfect with the song, to think you took them all but one! Thanks again!
Thank you Jlarrys. This song was one of my all time faverots I never thought I would ever hear it again!! till I checked You Tube! I also loved the great pictures that went with the music. I have really been down in the dumps lately. Till I found you Video.
Thank You For Signing the comments. That makes me well rewarded for the video. I too love this song especially.I remember it from a child. All the photos except one I took.
Thank you for this wonderful video. This is one of the few songs that fills me with a sense of peace and satisfaction. Nothing in the hymbook brings me closer to the love of God and who I am as his child than this. Your images are almost exactly what I always imagined when spinning this 45 as a little kid. It is like something that stepped out of my prayers. Thank you very much for bringing me peace today.
@jlarrys Well, there are some lovely tributes on this page. 'Young and Foolish' is my favourite of Gogi Grant and it would worth seeking out. It's not on Youtube unfortuanely but is available on CD.
Beautiful Thank you
