age of empires 1 : good , but less options and bad graphics

age of empires 2 : very good game , a lot of options , and even now ( 2012 ) the graphics are still nice to play

age of empires 3 : a wonderfull game with loads of options and ofc now still very good graphics to play with

age of empires 4 : well , .... i don't know , it LOOKS bad ......... :( i don't like the cartoon design ......

Why Ensemble Studios didn't do this one i don't know but Gas always made sucky games.No wonder this is one of worst rated Age games its not just "fanboys"as you call them.

@Mariose123 I HAVE played them, ALL of them, dont call the graphics cartoony, call them different. Age of Empires 3 had different graphics but was still great and still felt the same. No one ever complains without mentioning 'cartoony'. Dungeon siege was not a sucky game. What do you mean 'really' want to play it? How many levels are you restricted from playing ? how many units are you locked out of ? Stupid as 100% of F2P games advertisements. just mad u cant pirate it? be honest.

@BC4Y It plays just like any other except 3 (cant train multiple units per building) Really it plays like aoe1-aoe2 with new graphics, but has the tech/rpg elements of aoe3 and a well done meta game.

I think a cartoony art style is good becuase it will never look old as tech advances. thats the problem with ultra realistic, it will look out dated in a few years. your kids will probaly think a game like black ops graphics suck compared to the games they'll play.

Its actually a very good game, mechanics arent bad ive noticed nothing that would prove that they are... Downside is the price of the entire game... its like 8200 points which is about 100 dollars, u have to choose a civilization and just buy the premium pack for that one else its too expensive. I have not seen one fucking positive comment about this game. The game is great, the graphics might not be "mature" but what does that have to do with anything? @SuperRayman1990 I agree. I also think this video review does not at all do the game justice. They really glossed over the customization options and didn't go into any detail about the depth it offers. The game borrows a lot of concepts from World of Warcraft and actually incorporates them quite brilliantly into the RTS genre. I also don't know what he's talking about with "sloppy mechanics". This is one of the more polished games I've played.

@ToriUke9 It's not a failure. It's not like they were "dumbing it down". They just came at it with a different art style. This vibrant, colorful mix is a fresh feel to this old franchise. Take a game like LoZ: Wind Waker. It's got a similar 'cartoony' feel to it, but it's by no means a kid's game.
