Great memories; as a child I lived in Singapore in the 1970's; we flew SIA to / from London and I remember what fantastic service they gave. I also remember being given a model plane by one of the stewardesses as a gift at the end of each flight. I would love to go back one day.
How come I know it is 1973? Because SIA was only formed after 1972, but definitely not 1970. I remember these adverts on TV. However this one is much longer, probably only shown in cinemas.
The interior cabin shows a 747. SIA only got their first 747 in June 1973 and MSA (predecessor to SIA) got their air traffic rights (which SIA then inherieted) to London in 1972.
Singapore Airlines flight attendants are the one of the best in the world. Classy ladies. The US carriers flight attendants should take some lessons from the Singapore Girls, on beauty and customer service.
MSA was actually Malaysia Singapore Airlines, however there is some controversy because it was listed in some sources as Mercury Singapore Airlines, interestingly.
Because it was called Malaysia Singapore Airline (MSA) up to 1973. It split up that year, and became SIA and MAS. And I remember watching these adverts, but this one was not shown on TV, probably made for cinema. They showed the shorter version on TV.

Dear All,
I have some questions about sociology:
(1) Why do we love flying?
(2) From this airline TV advertisement in 1970, what can tell about the global social values at that time?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)

It's not as Mercury Singapore Airlines. MSA means Malaya Singapore Airlines.

@MatMelayu Upon the split of MSA, Singapore was going to keep MSA as Mercury Singapore Airlines but then changed to SIA - Singapore Airlines

MSA split into SIA and MAS on 01OCT1972. Before SIA officially took off, it was once called Mercury Singapore Airlines (MSA)

@greatsia Singapore Airlines began operation on Oct 1, 1972, after Malaysia-Singapore Airlines split

@greatsia SIA started late 1972 so it must be 1973!
