Hint.

Don't pull your finger back up just release (the desire of your hand to be in a "neutral" position, will bring your fingers back) and your thumb should stay in the center back (if you will), it's not an electric guitar with a small neck.

Well, it's been some time since your comment, but just in case you are still interested in this style, which our good friend lonlonjp already named, you can look for Tom Jobim, Djavan, Toquinho and Gilberto Gil, all brazilian composers with both Bossa Nova, MPB (Brazil's folk music) and Samba roots.

@TGreguitar Go out and buy a book called "The Jazz Theory book" by Mark Levine. It's about an inch and a half thick but within the first half cm it teaches you all about chords- in particular the kinds of chords used in this piece of music, 7ths. Trust me it's an amazing book. I got it from the library and had to get a half an hour bus home but when I got off the bus that day I knew the 2-5-1 progression and was able to pick my guitar up strait away and write a piece similar to this one.
