No one's probably gonna read this, but I’ll say it anyway cuz I feel at least 1 person will. I'm a young designer and graffiti artist, I know there's a million out there but I feel like my art has a unique individual style.
If you just take a min and give me a chance I'll make you a believer. I would love nothing more than to have a loyal following on youtube. If anyone who reads this could press the "THUMBS UP" others will see it. Just a simple button push will make a huge difference.
It's U2. it's not my place to not like. They are the master we are the students. If they wrote it, it must be good. I will just wait until i realise it..
U2 haven't written "obvious on first listen" songs in years - and that's good cause if they did they would be Linkin Park or Britney Spears - they are ALWAYS deep slow coooking "growers" that withstand the test of time!
I LOVE EVERY song on that CD - genuinely and sincerely - I LOVE EVERY song on that CD. That's why I get SO FUCKING PISSED when some "supposed" U2 fan comes along and knocks it.
And I'm like, OK shithead, tell me, WHICH SONGS are weak - because there ARE NO WEAK SONGS on that CD!
I've seen the new video already! they look like they are in space and there are lots of graphics in the background! Bono with no shirt on towards the end of the video! lol
I'm really hoping a band like QOTSA will take that "you don't know how beautiful you are" riff and make an entirely new song out of it. it's the only section of the song worth listening to.
I was surprised when I found out that this was U2....
OMG...well done! U2 is looking for Zepellin and Lake & Palmer so they are opening a new gap in the horizon and we are so proud of it...as future is continuos & UDos ( Spanish pronunciation )
Come on I am waiting for run across the love border... on the next corner
I see somebody mentioned Stackridge and their song "Boots And Shoes" . You can't mention the 2 bands in the same breath. Bono & crew could never hope to write a song or melody anywhere as near as good as anything that Stackridge have written or recorded.
There you go.....the average U2 Fan ? Articulate, able to have an adult conversation, have rational discussions, able to at least consider another point of view. Bono ( who is a well read & well spoken person) would be proud of you, son! When you grow up to be a man you might just understand.
Listen you old dickhead - you're not a U2 fan, fine we get it - but don't come trolling around here and knocking them while promoting some old crusty boring band - Just fuck off back to your Stackridge videos.
Been a rabid fan since I saw Red Rocks and was blown away by Achtung. If this represents the direction of their new album, I'm extreemely disappointed. This song is very weak. Dance pop crap. Unfortunate since I was really anticipating this album.
I used to be a U2 diehard and I thought they finally made it back with How to Dismantle and Atomic Bomb looks like they went back to the PopMart era when they plain sucked. This song is absolutely horrible and I am very disappointed. I cant believe they charged $200 a ticket face value last tour. They are definatly not worth it. Do yourself and like I did become a Springsteen convert. more mature and seemed to care more than the Joshua Tree Era. Your success has clearly gone to your head.
Sorry but The Korgis & Stackridge got there first!!
Plus they had 'Boots **and*** Shoes' and not just Boots.
Go check out the Korgis song 'Boots And Shoes' from "The Korgis Kollection". And you'll see/hear what I mean.
Incidentally the song 'Boots And Shoes' as also been rerecorded for the forthcoming Stackridge CD - 'A Victory For Common Sense' due for release in May 2009.
If this U2 single is owt to go by I'm in for the Stackridge stuff - I think I'd even be in for theb latest Craig Marcus and the Vibrant Sinews LP at this rate. Bono should stick to impressing Bob Dylan or whatever it is that he does of a day job.
Buzzy Linhart would never have let things get to this state
Tell you what, I've listened to it a few times now, and it's growing on me, which is what U2 songs have always done, when I first heard "The Fly" I thought "god this is rubbish not the U2 I love" and then I went on to think it was fantastic and "Auctung Baby" was a masterpiece, same happened with "Discotheque" and "Pop" and the same with "Verigto" and their last Album. So I say listen again and give it a chance, the Album will be great to!! This is what makes U2 great!
I think it is Obama...new era, Ghosts aren't real (Weapons of mass dest),...america the beautiful...the hawaiian sound (Obama from hawaii), get on boots go to work...Pop Song? everything you know is wrong...it is very deep if you look past the literal linear meaning and look at the implied and then the poets unconscious meanings...
check them out playing Bad (Bad is a song-not how well they played) at Live Aid -U2 listen to the whole 12 minute version....try to ignore the mullet....THAT is unbelievable...U2 Bad LIve Aid--then check out the one from Rattle and Hum...but don't get the one that is sped up---not as good
This is not good enougth! Come on Mr Bono get your ass into gear! A comeback single has to standout, like Vertigo, Beautiful day! This sounds like a left over from the Zooropa, Pop sessions!
"ELECTRICAL STORM" was the BEST "MAINSTREAM" U2 SINGLE ever released & it never made it onto an album...thats a (PRIME EXAMPLE) of how good even U2's B-sides can be! Dont judge an entire album you havent heard yet on the basis of a first single which is track No.6 on the album!
I CHALLENGE ANYBODY to listen to "ELECTRICAL STORM" & watch the video (directed by Anton Corbijn) & not be "AMAZED" at its LYRICAL, MELODIC & VISUAL GENIUS!
I LOVE this song. A return to the Achtung Baby standard for me. It has the vibe of a sountrack for a Rodriguez Mexican shoot-out movie - Antonio Banderas could be strutting around in his Sexy Boots creating mayhem, Salma Hayek on his arm. Bloody Marvellous!!
Having listened to it a bunch of times since yesterday...it has grown on me. "You don't know how beautiful you are" I think gives it a "universal message" touch.
Not my favorite U2 single, but new sounds are what make them great. They change with the times so they never get old. Maybe we'll find something incredible on the full album.
Big U2 fan. First single that I can't really get into. I think the song would be much better if the chorus was different.Instead of "sexy boots," or "get on your boots;" maybe a deviation of the bridge for the chorus:
"Get into the sound, sound, sound,
Can you get into the sound?
Get into the sound, sound, sound..."
Something like that, almost anything rather than POYB and "Sexy Boots."
Bright side...Bono' kids can sell it, it would make a good commerical song...for boots, of course.

I am looking forward to hearing the entire CD. Out of all of their previous singles they have released, this is by far the wrose. From I Will Follow to Vertigo, all great. I have loved them all, The Fly, Numb, Discotheque, Beautiful Day (Even though the rest of the CD was very weak, Beautiful Day was great). This song does nothing...listened to it five to ten times...leaves me flat. Still looking forward to the CD.
Amazing, how I drive my car tonight along with "Get on your Boots." It's simple; it's U2 unpredictable. No more prohibition, just the best U2's salad. Brazilian fan, familiar way to be crazy! If I don't go crazy tonight...
I think it takes a bit of listening to before you realise that this is a good song. It grows on you. Takes a while to get used to coz its a completely new style... one of the reasons I love U2.. every album has a different sound.

The "how beautiful you are" bit's o.k. but the rest is a rip off of "pump it up" by Elvis Costello (from 1978!)

DEFINITELY grows on you - I just hope there are "deeper" songs like "Between A Man and A Woman" and "Kite" on the new CD.
Usually U2 puts out rockers as singles and then have "mature" music on their albums.
